THE OFFICE is the best and most beautiful show on TV

How many shows can make you bust a gut and break your heart? SCRUBS accomplishes that often, too and that is a solid hour of television. 30 ROCK is okay, MY NAME IS EARL is crap and I haven't watched ER in 30 years, so who knows...

I do corporate communications for a living now, so I know what it's SUPPOSED to mean (even though people are deluding themselves if they think spouting this kind of jargon makes them sound important), but we would NEVER put something like this in a press release. It's strictly the kind of space-filling bullshit you tell your boss at a meeting to make him think you're working harder than you are. Nice to see Scrubs back, though.

I've been waiting for this lineup for a while now. The DVR will be set on cruise control on Thursay nights now. And look fellow Scrubs lovers - this show has been moved around, stopped and restarted at so many different points that there is nothing to really worry about. NBC knows who its demo is in regards to Scrubs. Do any men watch Grey's? Barely. And the audience Grey's has gained has come at the expense of CSI not whatever NBC has been putting out at 9pm - whcih by the way was the slot Earl and Office were at last year whilst building there fanbase. NBC will finally be able to proclaim Must See Thursdays again! Although based upon the first two episodes of 30 Rock, they have a lot of catching up to do quality-wise when compared to The Office, Scrubs and to a lesser extent Earl.

It's not nearly as prestigious as they make it out to be. That aside, this news is fine. Seeing that SCRUBS wasn't really planning on lasting past this season anyway (and if it does, Braff still says he will be leaving after this season), this is a great place for it to finish of the brilliant show that it is. And sorry, "20 Good Years," but you were just awful. Now, it's not necessarily done, but I can say goodbye to it much more easily than the other new sitcoms, those being "The Class," "Happy Hour," "Help Me Help You," "'Til Death" and "30 Rock, that I've caught.

NBC should have done this long ago. Scrubs is a big cult hit that its fans will watch no matter how many CSIs and overrated, soapy hospital shows are up against it. So why not bite the bullet, put it on in a timeslot you're getting killed in anyway, and offer up a nice bit of counterprogramming? Earl, Office, and Scrubs back-to-back-back will be comic bliss for those of us with taste.

With Dwight's power play, and Ryan's sales "initiation," and Michael's sugar rush, it just seems like they're abandoning character-driven episodes in favor of cheap, goofy laughs. The best stuff seems to be happening at Jim's new office, where the tone is spot on with the previous seasons.

I'd buy that argument if this were the 1960's and most people still only had 1 tv in their house. And for the record, I watch Grey's Anatomy by choice, and yes, I'm a straight guy. Its a great show, which I think people at AICN would realize if they weren't completely biased against it from the get-go. And seriously, I'm guessing most talkbackers watch Veronica Mars and watched Buffy, which while great shows aren't exactly "guy" shows. I'm just hoping my RSS feed will be able to grab Scrubs and have it ready to watch by the time Grey's goes off at 10.

but I saw some of it replayed on Bravo. Maybe it was just odd timing, but every time I saw Tracey Morgan on the show, it was funny. Tina Fey & Baldwin, not so much. Still, of the over-hyped SNL-esque behind-the-scenes shows NBC has, I am suprised to find this one the watchable one. I've been disapointed with the current season of Earl, but I still watch, and it is still better than most TV shows. The charm hasn't been there as much so far this season. I like that the Office is expanding its horizons and the new office (even though they will obviously be combined during the downsizing) is entertaining and adds new life to the show. I tend to think people who say the show is too wacky have never worked in an office environment before, or at least not in an office that was being run into the ground by a bunch of corporate morons. I could do without Scrubs unless they manage to get Tobias to show up like Zach is trying to do. I'd watch According to Jim if they got Tobias on it. Since Thursday is the night where movies are advertised, at least NBC has a niche that should be profitable, even if the ratings don't compare well with the competition's shit. These shows will probably also do really well on download sites, DVD, and syndication. I'm glad they're trying to build something substatial rather than throw in the hit of the week gameshow. Also, fuck FOX for the way they handled Arrested Development.
Unfortunatly, I think the lifecycle for Gray's probably has at least 2 or 3 decent years on it before the ground falls out from under it, and some good shows will probably fall to it.

Zach Braff's contract ends at the end of the season and he'll almost certainly bail, NBC is basically sending it to Thursday to die--but luckily it works out for the best since it's paired up with The Office. Looks like everybody wins--Scrubs will have had a solid 6-year run. Smart move by NBC (although 30 Rock's ratings have been terrrrible so I have a feeling they're kind of using it as a placeholder for something else.

That comedy line up is damn great. Also ER has really improved this year with Stamos. Scrubs and 30 Rock are going to get crushed, but NBC are invested in the shows and they aren't expecting too much. 30 Rock is actually pretty good, everytime Fey and Krakowski are on screen the show falters badly, but Morgan (who I hated on SNL) and Baldwin are magnificent. Zach Braff says he is open to a 7th year. Finally Green Wing fucking sucks, a terrible show that thinks it is great.

Scrubs, Grey's and ER. Now Fox just needs to put House on Thursdays. I don't know if people watch shows because of the setting, but I agree that Scrubs should be on after Earl to avoid a hospital comedy going up against a hospital drama. I guess that The Office is more important to NBC at this point.

Gotta wonder how long this lineup could last, even if successful, given that NBC want to put reality shows on at 8 in the future. Maybe they're just preparing to cancel Scrubs and 30 Rock.

It's ironic that this is almost the exact lineup that people here were suggesting a few months ago. With the exception that Arrested Development should be where 30 Rock is. Now that would have been sweet. Regardless, that's a solid 2 hours of good comedy without the crappy filler shows that would have been there in the past.

It mystifies me- here's a show that's had a steady cult for 5 seasons, in spite of lackluster promotion and multiple shifts in timeslot. Can't they at least give it the dignity of premiering in September like any other veteran show? The only upside of this, as far as I can see, is that it won't be competing with VERONICA MARS anymore- the latter show needs every viewer it can get, and HOUSE is more than enough competition.
Great lineup for NBC...but I actually watch Grey's.

Sure, it's a total chick show, and it has no subtlety whatsoever, and it's a complete soap opera, and the main character is a whiney unlikable bitch, and worst of all it rips off many elements from scrubs (a much better show). But it's still entertaining in a guilty pleasure way. Some great cast members playing great characters, some genuinely funny bits, some twists didn't see coming. Not the best show on TV, but one I find worth watching. Too bad it will clobber Scrubs, but it's proably the last season for that anyway. As an example of how bad the Greys/Scrubs ripoffs have been, recently on Greys they've taking to having characters refer to George by the nickname "Bambi". Pisses me off every time I hear it.

The (commercial) art school in question was in Seattle, but the dorms themselves were on the campus of Seattle University, a Jesuit school. The dorm buildings there housed students from those two schools PLUS the nearby community college AND a local fine arts school. We were a rather eclectic mix, so I'd argue the "nerd-hive" thing. But, after 20-odd years of hindsight, I'll agree that we weren't nearly as cool as we thought we were at the time. Add to that the sad fact that there wasn't much else on TV in that era on that night of the week that was much better. Nobody had cable or satellite, so rabbit ears were the order of the day. VCRs were also in rare supply. Thursday night drinking didn't work well when classes started at 7:30 am on Fridays. Does that answer your question?

The newest sitcome from the UK, stars the most irritating man on TV comic Lee Mack, god that show is abysmal. and the american actress in it, oh dear god, someone put this show out of its misery. Green Wing was a very a odd show indeed, but most people in the UK wathced it for TAMSIN GRIEG and sarah alexander, the 2nd most beautiful woman on UK tv after Lauren Laverne.

But if you're from another country or the coasts of this one, I doubt you can "get" it. That isn't meant as a put-down -- it's the same reason middle America doesn't "get" Studio 60. Or why people who have never worked in a cubicled environment don't "get" the Office. Shows appeal to different, distinct audiences, and obviously there are way more Americans who can relate to "My Name is Earl" than "Studio 60", which is why it's higher in the ratings despite Studio 60's better writing and acting.

I had to laugh at how many men needed to prefix their comments about Grey's anatomy by stating clearly that they are heterosexual; who am I to buck a trend? I started watching Grey's at the behest of my, at the time, girlfriend who insisted that it was one of the best shows on TV. I wasn't that keen at first, but surely enough the show grew on me. (I happen to find Sandra Oh immensely attractive, which helps). The two-part episode in Season 2 (with the bomb) were excellent, I thought; however Season 3 seems to be a little lacklustre- plots are already becoming familiar and obviously circular- specifically the central Ross/Rachel will-they-won't-they? conundrum. That said, I continue to watch and I continue to enjoy, but in more of an habitual way than at first. I'd also add that I've missed Scrubs and was surprised to see it premiering so late in the year. This may wekk be the last Season, so I hope it is well written.

The royale family returned for a last time one off special. Did anyonefrom the UK see if so what did they think of it. a bit hit and miss, I thought. But the scene with dave reading mills and boon to nana was the highlight of the episode. He is my favourite character dave. Over on ITV Lord Bragg was interviewing Sue Townsend.

I hope Scrubs busts out this year ... it's been so good for so long. I just think it's hard for a sitcom to gain an audience this far into it's run, even if they finally made the right move with it. As for scheduling, The Office should be at 9 and Earl at 9:30. How Earl gets away with the "jokes" it makes at 8 pm, I'll never know ... nothing says family hour like blow job jokes and faggy subtexts.
