Even Janeane Garafolo looks cool in this movie. Macy does indeed look like a badass. I can't wait for this one. -jay

The Mystery Men are: Ben Stiller as "Mr. Furious", a super angry guy. William H. Macy as "The Shoveler", armed w/ all sorts of gardening implements. Janeane Garafalo as "The Bowler", an expert shot w/ her bowling ball (thats her dead father's skull in the ball BTW). Hank Azaria as "The Blue Raja", able to throw all sorts of kitchen utencils w/ great aim. Paul Ruebens (Pee Wee Herman) as "The Spleen", I'm not sure what he can do, but it has something to do w/ him being a victim of toxic waste. The fat kid from the "Keenan and Kel" tv show plays "The Invisible Kid". Greg Kinnear plays "Captain Amazing" (or somrthing like that) the only one w/ real super powers who is tired of the Mystery Men riding his coattails. They fight Geoffry Rush's evil disco bowler "Cassanova Frankenstein" and his "Disco Boy" henchmen, played by comedian Eddie Izzard and Pras from the Fugees. Lena Olin plays some evil woman, and Tom Waits plays a mad scientist. Most of this info has been posted previously in Talkbacks.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but I read an interview with Macy in which he said The Spleen's special ability/power was that he vomited on evildoers.
"Serious" Superheroes

Oh MAN is this movie gonna rock! I was looking forward to it before, but after these stills, I'm totally psyched. One question, though. This movie is intended to poke a little fun at the super hero genre, right? As big a comic book geek as I am, I have no problem with that. But why the hell can't Hollywood make a "serious" superhero movie that looks this good?
Paul Reubens

Boy, I sure am excited to see Paul Reubens on screen again. I enjoyed him in his last couple monkey movies, but this looks like a more substantial role. I hope he is able to get his own projects off the ground. His NBC sitcom in particular sounds fantastic from what I have read about the pilot. Unfortunately the article I read said that as scripted by Reubens, the pilot would be incredibly expensive and it wasn't clear where they would get the funding. I am here to say that if I were some rich fatcat, I would gladly write Mr. Reubens a blank check. If all of you moguls out there knew what was best for the planet Earth, you would too.

Good Burger is one of the funniest movies I've seen(alongside Dumb & Dumber, UHF, Strange Brew, and MST3K: The Movie), so I'd put Kel tied with Ben Stiller and Paul Reubens as the actor I'm most looking forward to seeing in this movie. Then there's Hank Azaria, William H. Macy, Janeane Garofalo and Geoffrey Rush just to name a few. WOW!
Oh yeah.....

.......Kel is the skinny one on Kenan & Kel, BTW! Ben Stiller is no stranger to dark and bizarre humor, so it makes me wonder if this is supposed to be a retro/black comedy.

I have to admit William Macy looks great. Although I'm no Ben Stiller fan and Hank Azaria help ruin the legend that was Godzilla. I hope Bob Burden had alot of input with this project. I would hate to see this ruined by creative differences.

Any one know if Flaming Carrott is going to make an appearance, perhaps in a sequel? Now THAT would be a movie!

Does anyone else find it just a little funny, if not outright ironic that of the cast of ER, William Macy seems to be the breakout star?
Wes Studi will rule in this

Wow, this looks funky. My prediction for coolest role in the movie goes to Wes Studi. He is absolutely fantastic as Magua in 'Last of the Mohicans' so here's hoping he can do it again with 'Mystery Men'.

Where's Screwball and his pet shoelace?

My big worry is that this film is not going to feel AT ALL like what Bob Burden wrote. I can't think of any director who could deliver that, except maybe W.D. Richter or David Lynch. Still, from what little I've seen, it looks like they're going to play it with a straight face, and let the inherent absurdity carry the laughs - which is key. Of course I wish the Flaming Carrot would put in an appearance, or especially Screwball (my fave!). But the actors they've chosen for the Mystery Men they *are* using are dead on target. Ms. Garofalo especially is an excellent choice - she looks a LOT like the way Burden draws women, except that she needs to be wearing a tank top and no bra. I'm also a little worried about all these references to the Mystery men not having any powers - the point in the comic was that they *did* have powers, just not good enough powers to make it in the big leagues. Mr. Furious, for example, was supposed to grow more invulnerable the angrier he got. And what's up with the idea of a character named "the Invisible Kid" if he hasn't got ANY powers? But anyway, the stills look GREAT, and I'm looking forward to this film in a big way. Cop: "Flaming Carrot, there are more criminals here than we thought!" Flaming Carrot: "Then SHOOT MORE BULLETS!"
Alas, poor Yorrick.
