Unbelievable (that's pretty funny that Hitler-meeting story) Well, I try to keep faith in Burton. He's obviously a guy who KNOWS what's up. Some of his movies I just love, others...I...expected more. I'd like to see him make some more non-genre flicks. This new project seems like a step in an interesting new direction. As far as 3-D, fuck yeah I wanna see more. You guys that haven't seen the latest 3-D tech just need to not even say a word until you have. Oh, and Ripley's with Jack Palance was the btw.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Italian Black metal Legends Opera IX are proud to bring you special guest...CHRISTOPHER LEE!". Burton's movies are best when they are personal ala Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, and Big Fish. Planet of the Apes made me want to kill myself with its badness. Corpse Bribe was visually nice but had no soul. And kintar0, "Because fat Goth chicks fucking love that movie.". Hmmm that's catty. It was phrased with enough cynical wit that would sound great with a lisp...ok THAT'S The Gayest thing said in this TalkBack. Congratulations!

What's all the hubbub on the Ripley's flick? Just Googled it, and I got this - "After locations had been scouted, the studio pulled the rug from under director Burton's period epic with Jim Carrey because the budget was too big. The studio canceled this big biographical movie when director Tim Burton's proposed budget apparently reached $150 million." Wtf?

"Catty" has to be Gay...
by DOGSOUP

...to have your TB be considered for MOST Gay. If your comment was merely snide then it could be anything and not specifically "Gay" per se. But it has to have that "catty" quality to be a contender for Gayest Thing Said in a TalkBack. I had to make a judgement between snide and catty and having reviewed your entry I felt it had that Catty Quality to give you the prize.

If he's using the style he's best at (weird, dark-fantasy), then he's a damn fine director. On the other hand, he's not really good at crossing into other genres. Films like Planet of the Apes remake, the Wonka remake, Batman Returns, and the aborted attempt at Superman show him to be a bit too...wacky and overly reliant on stunt casting. Still, flaws and all, he's an okay director who's really good if he hits that one note (edward scissor hands, beetlejuice, etc).

Great Interview, Harry. You touched on all of the right topics. I love Tim Burton as a director. I may not love everything that he does, but he's certainly a refreshingly dark director with a very unique style. I'm always interested in his projects. Although I don't share his love of Jim Carey.

This is the same shitty pop-up book process applied to Superman Returns. The ONLY 3-D that looks good is: Live Action shot with 3D cameras (Ex: Imax3D Documentaries), or CG movies that can just be re-rendered in stereo (ex: Monster House). Fuck off Tim, go read a comic book!

The 82-year-old Lord of the Rings star is taking part in the Earthshaker Festival in Geiselwind, Bavaria. He will sing with two bands, Manowar and Rhapsody, according to concert organisers. Lee will be accompanied by a live orchestra and a choir and will perform alongside heavy metal bands such as Grave Digger, Dragonlord and Forces of Evil." Corpse Bride sucked

Oct 25th, 2006

I don't know, I love the design, it's gorgeous and the animation astoundingly good and nice to see the old styles being trumpeted, BUT I get left cold with the stories. I could just about dig Nightmare but the Corpse Bride, what with crap non-story, crap songs, crap character development and crap voice acting by Burtons wife, the first thing she's actually sucked in (well this and Apes) I really thought it sucked a dead one. Maybe Burton should use someone elses story for once and stick to Production Design instead.
