A whole movie of "Yes, he's a singer who's ironic about being a singer--that's the JOKE!" is gonna make me beg to watch the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers stillie (as opposed to movie). What can I expect from a site that considers Weird Al a genius?

Sorry to post an unrelated question, but what happened to Harry's reviews for "older" movies on this web site? This site used to have an alpabetized section under "reviews" but now I can't find it. Thanks.
sorry, but this movie is 5 years too late...

-that's the JOKE!" - The internet: providing a forum for uninformed fools to vent their ridiculous opinions since the early nineties! ------ Seriously, I can't even decipher that particular meaningless word-fart of a sentence. However, if I assume readingwriter is about 11, he might get points for effort with his 'stillie' attempt at humour, abortive though it was. Time to go purify my mind with the Tenacious D album and practice my cock-pushups.

It's pretty dumb all around, but has brief moments of greatness. The rock and roll cameos are by far the best part of the movie, and a bit about Pete Townshend's powerslide is genius. There's an end part after the credits, just FYI.

Obviously all you can do is "practice" cock pushups. Black's whole schtick is that he's "playing" a singer--every phrase, every expression has air quotes around it. If you had a brain where your internet sarcastic "pwned!" 'tude is, you'd realize you're the pathetic perfect example of the audience for all this ironic crap. Instead you think this ancient creaking "I'm a singer, but I KNOW it's ridiculous to take singing seriously, so I make these funny faces and act like I'm really into this" Dean Martin -cum- Motorhead thing is cutting edge. Now go listen to the greatest ripoff since The Return of Bruno, you retarded twat dribble.

"Thank you for letting us know what is in and what is out." Holy Christ, you're not doing that cobwebbed old chestnut, "You're taking a contrary opinion so I'm gonna pretend you claim it's more than just an opinion"? Jesus Christ, talk about pretentious douchebags! Everyone knows only someone who takes a name from a Shane Black film can lay down the Accepted Wisdom! Now hurry up and buy that new issue of Entertainment Weekly so you can tell us all what's cutting edge!

I guess if you're 14 or under you might enjoy this steaming pile of manure but please. Jack Black is one of the most irritating, overrated people on the planet. Next time I see his smug squashed face on a cinema screen i'm going to put my fist through it.

I agree 100% with ZombieSolutions... Tenacious D were very funny back in the day but there's only so much you can make fun of when it comes to heavy metal. Particularly since that kind of "excess" metal is pretty much dead these days. The kind with fantasy art and big curly hair and 10-minute songs.

I use to love watching their fifteen show when it would pop up on HBO. It seems as though they haven't wrote any new material since 98...I mean: same songs, same jokes! KG and JB should be ashamed trying to push the same stuff again! When I heard about this movie, I was estatic. Now, not so much. The D seem exhausted. If this was all new, then Hells-to-the-yeah bring it on. Some of the lines in the song are either ripping off old sweet ass lines or just blatantly the same. Suckitown 5000.

Calm down, fella. So Black's 'stage presence' is ridiculously overblown, the album is still a hoot, where the music is good and the 'joke' is not the 'irony' of his physical mannerisms, but the funny lyrics. And given the extreme ridiculousness of most rock front men, don't you think they're ripe for a little parody? ---- I must say though, "he's a singer who's ironic about being a singer" still doesn't actually make sense (in a strictly linguistic sense, sorry to be anal), and I've never typed 'pwned' before in my life (until then). Also you're putting words into my mouth about the D being 'cutting edge', I couldn't give a crap what isn't cutting edge, I just know what I like. As for the slavering, frothing insults (come on, was that supposed to upset me? I've posted here for years, by now my skin's thicker than Dubbya Bush, and I've heard far worse), I'd be offended, but if I read the implication right and you can actually do cock-pushups, then I must bow down before you and give you respect. Unless your line about me only practicing was another attempt at a witticism, in which case, no respect for you. 'Cause that was worse than 'stillie'.
