Never once have I watched a 2D handdrawn feature thinking 'I wish this was 3D CG'. It's the execs that think that. They think 3D = a better product because the quality of the storytelling doesn't enter their heads. At least Pixar still have integrity.
I'm so sorry...

"Do you like laughing until your stomach feels like it's been pounded by the biggest bully in school?" You must have a very sad childhood, and are most likely to soon commit a suicide and/or become a serial killer.

You know... I was watching a commercial for 'Fox and the Hound' on DVD, and I thought to myself, "Boy, for some reason that movie feels a lot better to me than some of the 3D animal ones we've seen, what could it be?" Then I figured,"Maybe it's because the animals in old Disney flics actually act like animals except that they can talk, and there are no reliances on pop culture references or the need to have a gag every 3-5 seconds..." I was watching Ice Age the other day and I was rather annoyed overall... That's the problem... All these 3D flics are being made solely as comedies! I mean all of them! Not a few... And it gets stale... How about Disney, Dreamworks or whoever come up with some flicks that are begun as some moving sensible heartfelt good stories first! And then sprinkle bits of humor here and there? Try aiming for somwhere between a PG and a PG-13 fare... C'mon!

It's sad to see him quit sound work, but hell, I can't blame him. Any word on whether he's attached to a feature yet? And isn't Ben Burtt going over there too, what's he working on?
A feature, yes

I was at the screening in Chicago, and Rydstrom is in fact signed to direct an unannounced feature at Pixar. He also did the sound direction for Lifted, and plans to continue working on sound for his projects.
