I heard he got to go to the premiere, as the WWE people WANTED him there. This might be a decent Saturday matinee or drive-in movie, just good stupid action. ~ÐL

I clicked on the link hoping to read about how everyone laughed and found this film to be so idiotic. When I saw the trailer in theatres last week so many people were laughing their ass off by the end of it. I'm not against mindless action movies and I'll watch them from time to time, but this just looked flat out retarded as all hell.

have been to a RAW show lately? Do they edit the boo's from the televison feed and choose certain crowd shots to make it look like Cena is popular? They did some stuff like that back in WCW, and given the MAJOR change in reactions as of late, when his movie debut is about to hit, something smells fishy.

I'm thinking Vince and Co. are doing everything they can to prevent this thing from bombing. All year long John Cena was the most hated superstar on the planet, and for those who don't watch wrestling, I'm not saying he was a "heel" (villian), I'm saying people just flat-out hated the sonuvabitch. Hell, even the announcers admitted it. For awhile there, the only interesting thing on WWE programming was tuning in for the negative Cena chants, yet, after the great Lex Luger debacle of '93, they keep feeling the need to keep pushing him down our throats, just for the sake of the movie's box office.

I hope the thing tanks. There's a ton of of other WWE superstars, past and present, that deserved a movie before this hack.

This film was doomed when they cut out all the violence to make it suitable for the majority of Cena's barely pubescent fans. The inevitable unrated DVD will be fun though, of that I'm almost ceratin.

What timing. Who is the major league moron that saw this as a good idea right in the middle of this clusterfuck known as 'Iraq...er...Vietnam, part II?' Wow. Why not put out a movie called 'THE CONGRESSMAN' about a steroid induced roid head who battles cardboard baddies who abduct little boys and try to look at their pee pees. The CONGRESSMAN then kicks that baddies asses six ways to Monday. End with glorious shot of American Flag flying over a setting sun.

Why this movie will suck
by The Game Master
Oct 9th, 2006
03:29:40 PM
This movie will suck dead moose balls because of McMahon's ego. Vince owns Cena, and as always, he puts his ego before good business sense. Now, I would have welcomed a new "Commando" style movie, and Cena has just as much non-acting ability as Arnold did in his early days. However, Cena will not be allowed to grow any more than he is allowed to be his naturally schoolyard bully-heel self on RAW, as McMahon is determined to tell his audience what they're supposed to like (i.e. Cena the hero on RAW). I agree with those who say this movie will be edited unecessarily. McMahon will chop up the violence (the only thing a movie like this has going for it) to make it "family friendly" to his supposed Cena fans, thereby cutting out the teens and adults who would pay a lot more to see it. Like the audience on RAW, the movie will be a feeble attempt at audience mind-control rather than letting it become its own entity, and all because McMahon can't stand his audience preferring something different than what he originally intended. In other words, instead of going with the audience and making say 20 or 30 million, McMahon will do the same as editing out the boos and catcalls on RAW to appeal to pre-teens and make maybe 5 million. That genius, McMahon. Rock was smart to get out when he did.

It's better than a good percentage of the shit thats on tv. And just like World of Warcraft, you guys are into it too, but don't have the balls to admit it.

Despite the "Cool" in this site's title, you know damn well it's a geek haven. So there's no need to remain in the closet, and hate on everything just because "hating" is the popular thing to do around here.

And no matter how ridiculous wrestling may be at times, it's NOWHERE near the level that 24 strives to be at.

Yeah, I went there.

My comparison was not so much between the two's content as much as it was how they treat it's viewers. The WWE doesn't take itself seriously, for the most part, it knows the fans are in on the joke. But 24, which is praised for it's writing, continually comes across as ridiculous with the scenarios they keep pulling out of their ass, AND recycling bin.

24 and wrestling are very similiar in the fact that they recycle storylines all of the time, but in 24, it's way more obvious, or at least I had hoped it would be. A lot of people are still swallowing the shit they are serving us and labeling it "smart television".

Another thing, if 24 was wrestling, after building him up for five freaking years, Tony would have got at least a long running feud with "the champ" Jack Bauer, and maybe even a title run. But no, they kick his ass to the curb just to shock the viewers. It was not shocking, it was insulting.

Not to say the WWE doesn't insult, it's just nobodie's expecting World Wrestling Entertainment to be labeled as "smart television".

I'm very literate and cultured blah blah and I still enjoy watching wrestling 'cause it's fun and exciting and dramatic. It goes through its ups and downs, but it's consistently the best thing on TV.

Anyone who hates on the WWE is pretensious and probably is into 5 million other far lamer things. "Wrestling's stupid! I prefer listening to Slipknot and watching Anime!"

Guys, just quit while you're behind.

I enjoy great wrestling matches when the crowd is into it...Flair v. Steamboat, Steamboat vs. Savage, Hart vs. Austin, Michaels vs. Hart, etc.... Since there really are never good wrestling matches on wrestling, I never saw much point in watching it. If someone sent me a tape of the Benoit vs. Jericho vs. Triple H three way match though, I'd probably watch it. Heard it was good.

This has been on the shelf for a while at Fox. This was shot in my home town area and all the locations scream Australian countryside. I'm sure There is another one shooting here at the moment with a guy called Steve Austin in it. The WWE films have been very badly handeled the movies look like DTV stuff that only get screened at the movies because WWE throws their weight around.
