"I have no idea what the story is for THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM" ___ Jason Bourne versus the man who has plagued him his entire professional career, Carlos The Jackal. Unless you mean the movies, which have nothing whatsoever to do with the books. In that case, never mind.

How not to shoot an action film. It has to be the worst shot film I have ever seen in my entire life. I could not help but laugh at the screen as the two blurs went at each other in what I assume at various points in the film consisted of hand to hand combat and a car chase, these assumptions based soley on the audio as there really is nothing that can be discerned on screen. Identity was amazing the skill Damon showed with great choreography was careful captured on every frame. In Supremacy it was a terribly lit vomit of motion. A foot there an arm here. And I have yet to figure out what was going on in that climactic car crash. Awful just awful. Hopefully they can resurect the series if this move forward. But I refuse to admit to myself that Supremacy even happened.

But I hold out little hope for it actually happening. Damon and Bernal are fantastic actors and I would love to see them elevating each others games. Let's just hope Paul "You can tell something crazy is happening because I won't keep the damn camera still" Greengrass isn't directing this time. I can't believe anyone got suckered by his lazy style the first time around.

You have to sit in the back row to enjoy SUPREMACY
by Frietag
Oct 3rd, 2006
03:51:35 PM
Everyone I know who hated BOURNE SUPREMACY sat near the front. You can always tell who sat in the back row -- they liked it. But if you're one of those people who likes to sit right up near the front (and you weren't warned, like I was), then you now hate it with the burning fury of 1000 suns. (If you actually sat *IN* the front row, it destroyed your brain, and you now are a writer for game shows.) I haven't seen the DVD, but I'll wager the Shakycam comes off better on the small screen.

off topic: AVP2 will be R-Rated

om Rothman, head of Fox studios, said in an interview with IESB.net that the upcoming Alien vs. Predator 2 will be very violent, very hardcore, very restricted! Check it out: IESB: I am sold. AVP 2, man, you are just keeping the fanboys ecstatic… TR: We are genre lovers, yeah, I just started [AVP 2] actually, we’re stoked. It’s a pretty big piece of news…I don’t know… IESB: Oh come on...Tom it’s me… TR: Everybody will just… IESB: What, are you giving it to Variety? Ooh-ahh… TR: Let’s put it this way, I think the approach this time is going to be very hardcore. Very R rated. I think this is a, we believe that, this pass on AVP with these filmmakers is going to be a lot closer to the hardcore experience. IESB: I am hearing that this AVP 2 script resembles a lot of [James] Cameron’s Aliens, that it is very hard, and it doesn’t resemble the first AVP film much. Is that accurate? TR: That is accurate. Very hardcore. Very violent. IESB: Can you tell me what time frame this takes place in? TR: Yeah, it’s contemporary. IESB: Is Lance Henrikson going to have any kind of appearance? TR: I have no comment IESB: That’s fair. Someone sends me this rumor that you guys are so happy with the way things are turning out for AVP 2 that you are already looking at a stand alone Predator film, any truth to that? TR: Yes and no, no truth to that in current active prep, but yes it’s true that it’s something that we think and talk about. This is fantastic news, if you ask me. With the style of The Brothers Strause, and with Dan Pearl on as cinematographer, at least now we know that they will not have their hands tied, and be able to shoot this film with the macabre grit, emotion, and action we all want. To read the full interview visit IESB.net. Thanks to SiL for the heads up on the link.

much better than the movies (although Ultimatum as a film does not exist yet but let's be real, it won't come close). They killed Marie in Supremacy! Ruined that entire movie for me. Will Carlos the Jackal be "adapted" into Bin Laden in Ultimatum? The books are obviously plenty damn good enough stories to be made into movies so stop screwing with everything!! Dammit!

He's a really down to earth guy, and pretty fun to talk to. He stayed at the place where I work at handling business conferences two years ago when he was giving a speech to the students at a prep school up the road. Real nice guy, and his wit is probably sharper than most of the fucktards making the Matt Damon Retard Jokes. We get it, you're jealous, it's really okay. It's weird to see critics jizzing themselves in praise of the Bourne movies being the "smart" alternatives to the Bond films, but both movies revel in tired espionage cliches ("movie amnesia", a professional assassin who balks at killing kids, ect.) and they're not very good as action movies. The first was competently shot, if bland (a poor-man's Ronin), bt the sequel nearly gave me a seizure with it's shakey-cam bulshit. Count me out for the third.

I would have loved the second film if I could see what was going on in the action scenes. Hell, even the slow moments were like the camera was sitting on a running washer and dryer. They should of gotten Advil to sponsor the film and they could've handed out those 2 packs with every ticket.

The Bourne Supremacy was well-directed (ESPECIALLY the action sequences). I thought the final car chase was one of the best ever put on camera. The fight scenes were excellent because they allowed the viewer to experience what a true hand-to-hand fight feels like. The puffy, bloated, mama's boys reading this page wouldn't understand because they've never actually been in a fight (playing Mortal Kombat on your Playstation doesn't count, fellas). Nolan tried to replicate Greengrass' style of filming fight sequences in the Batman movie, but failed miserably. By the way, if you need further proof that Greengrass is the shit, just watch Flight 93--one of the best movies in recent years. That is all, bitches.

For those of you who like the books, obviously the third one will not involve Carlos the Jackal as that story wasn't developed in the first one. But there was another version of Bourne Identity made back in the 80s that follows the book pretty well. It was made for TV though. It's available on netflix and you may be able to find it in a large video store.

Yes, the shaky cam made us sick you little midget fister. SO that's how real car chases and fights are in the real world huh? Are you fucked in the head or just suffer from constant epilepsy?

I've driven fast cars, and I didn't shake like Ethel Thayer on a bumpy road.

I've been in fights and didn't seizure out or become blurry like a Paris Hilton porn film.

Bottom line is that was piss poor use of an interesting technique. Less is more fuckback.

Love both movies, Supremacy was slightly better than the first (cause the first one was already good), wish they didn't kill Marie though, but it didn't take away my enjoyment of the film. (personally, I really liked 'em, especially Supremacy for the casting of Brian Cox and Joan Allen, the pacing, and the direction). The Bourne movies can't be too bad if the new Bond is ripping them off (e.g., mental acuity over gadgets, dropping the emphasis on zippy one-liners, the grittier look, etc.)

Fuck it, I loved it. Greengrass approached it as a documentary and just went with it. Personally I thought it was a brilliant touch and something else from all the slick MTV shot-and-chopped action fare that plagues your loceal theater. Brilliant decision and I am there if it is done again. Who am I kidding? I am there no matter what. I only hope they ditched that story-line about a reporter finding out about Bourne and researching it. It was reported about a year ago during a script review. Sounded lame, but with the writing powers behind the current script I'd say we are safe.
