The Kazakh government is very smart. It is piggybacking its P.R. campaign onto a ton of free publicity, thanks to Borat. And Borat gets free publicity, too. Everybody wins. If the Kazakh government had been silent, I'd just think, "ha ha, Cohen is using Kazakhstan in his skits". Now, because of the Kazakh reaction, I think, "hey, Kazakhstan is a country that cares about the U.S. and cares about how Americans view Kazakhstan, and it is a proactive country that can take useful action". That is a very positive image the government has created via its response. So, if the opportunity to locate a factory in Kazakhstan comes up in three years, I would be more favorably predisposed about Kazakhstan, already, thanks to the government's Borat reaction.

And smashing the Jew eggs. Honestly the only people who should really be offended by Borat are Christians. They're the ones who got made out to look like total backwards morons in the movie. Everyone else got a fair shake and it was obvious the character was the one being laughed at during their interactions...then the scenes with white Christians had that reversed and they became the jokes.

Don't get me wrong, any head of state (however pointless) who wants to take W to task is laudable, but c'mon...at least come over here and slap Blair before he leaves through the back door and lets Brown take the controls. And who the fuck said Brown was to be PM? Don't we elect those?

I saw a screening of this movie. It may have some jabs at Kazakhstan in the form of poverty, incest, and racism, but what's really funny is that he comes to this country in search of a better place and finds that Americans are even more stupid, insane, and morally reprehensible. THIS MOVIE IS GENIUS.

React to a fictional character who you dislike because he makes you look like a bunch of Xenophobic racist backwoods hicks who live in hovels, by making a movie about the natives beating back and clashing with foreigners with darker skin and calling it Nomad. Good plan.

I am going to take a contradictory stand here on this Borat stuff. I remember in school there were the cool guys and then there were the dorks like me. Some of the cool guys were also assholes and loved to make fun of the dorks. Because we didn't dress like the cool guys or act like the cool guys are supposed to act. So, because we hadn't yet figured out that it makes absolutely no difference what some assholes think about us, it caused a lot of hard feelings and tended to drive us more into our dork-shells. That's what I see going on with this Borat Stuff. I know, it's probably very funny, but it also seems very elitist, and I'm surprised, Harry, that the editorial policy of this site, which I love and am here posting on for the first time ever, seems to be that this is funny and cool. It's just like the way we used to (and sometimes still do) portray all Southern people as stupid hicks. Or even better, the way we used to portray all black people as saucer-eyed pickaninnies and "Yassuh" shufflers and Uncle Toms. Maybe if and when I see the movie I'll change my opinion, but for now, I would say that this is a bunch of white asshole cool guys making fun of something they don't understand and don't care to learn about. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

...the people who watch Ali G (and this movie) all know it's tongue-in-cheek. We all know Kazakhstan isn't the Sodom and Gomorrah portrayed in the movie. Furthermore, people who DON'T know much about SBC before they see this film likely won't have a worse view of Kazakhstan either. Why? Because they know they've gone to the movies to see A FUCKING COMEDY.

And i'm pretty sure America has 'food' lol What i mean is just this: in an average american city there's just nothing to do. All the arts, entertainment, etc is concentrated on the coasts. american mid west is a wateland.(with some exceptions like AICN's precious Austin) You can travel for 3000 miles and everything is just the same corporate shit. Thats just amazing for a non-american. We were in Phoenix some months ago, the 6th biggest US city or so, there there was nothing, literary nothing. just buildings and people in cars( what up with this car obsession btw?) But the US coastlines are incredilbly cool, just weird that there's this huge difference.
and whats up with your malls?

malls everywhere. peple are either in their car or in their malls. pretty funny when you think about it. I think Tommy lee jones did a great job portraying America in his directorial effort( 3 burials)
