I pretty much have to see almost all of those movies, especially Fountain, CoM, and Pan's Labyrinth. Oh wait...that wasnt in there. Fuck it, I still want to see it.

Also really want to see this one, especially because the book was very taut and intriguing. Though I don't know how certain character work will fit, it was indeed superb.

And I don't mean that in a "I don't get it sort of way." I mean it in a it has terrible acting and directing sort of way. It's a B-movie. And not in a "Brian De Palma did a hilarious send up of B-movies!" sort of way but in a brian De Palma tried to make a Hitchcock love letter and it just turned out awful sort of way. The grating performance from Craig Wasson (I swear I thought it was Bill Maher for a second) is reason enough to hate the film, but the painfully bad and ridiculously predictable script puts it over the top. And lest I forget the always annoying Melanie Griffith. It's not just bad...it's porn bad. Mission to Mars bad. I had no idea what it was the first time I ever stumbled upon it but was compelled to keep watching cause I thought it was a joke. De Palma is maybe the most overrated of the classic film directors to come out of the 70's and his last few films prove that. What he has going for him are Carlitos Way, Casualties of War, and The Untouchable (which because of the performances seems like a better movie than it is). The rest is garbage. yes even that overblown overacted piece of wannabe pulp fiction Scarface. And here in the states the Black Dahlia's reviews make it sound exactly as I suspected, a wannabe noir with wooden leads whose characters turn into unwatchable cliches by the end. De palma is incorrigible.

"Here in the states" eh? Why do you think De Palma went to Europe to raise the money for the film!? Because Hollywood is too busy spending the money on The Wicker Man! If you're going to judge a film by the reviews in american media you won't see many quality pictures, you know that right? And every american review of every De Palma film is practically the same. The reviews I got to read from the States only confirm that. They managed to totally misinterprete the film and the joke is on them. Actually, you know what? We should make a list of great american directors and sineasts that America gave a big fat collective FUCK OFF! So now you have directors like De Palma looking for the money to finance their movies in Europe while the studio gimps have no problem raising the money for their mind-fucking spectacles. Btw, I saw The Black Dahlia, it fuckin' rules! This film is done by a man who's a true visualist and doesn't give a flyin' fuck what anybody thinks about he's films. If you like them-great, if not-who really cares!

And I'm going to love the hell out of it. A US release of November (basically a month) would be fantastic, but there hasn't even been a trailer yet...There was rumors that MacLachlan had a small role in this, can anyone can confirm that?

Kon Satoshi is one hell of a director, and "Paranoia Agent" is one of the best television shows to debut this decade.

Um, it doesn't work for Soderbergh or Greengrass...

Soderbergh was a fine director --until he brought that "docu/realism" angle. His best movies (still Videotape and King of the Hill) have that nowhere to be found... as for Greengrass, well, if Children of Men is even remotely like anything he's done, it'll be completely unwatchable.

I've heard that MacLachlan isn't in it, but Grace Zabriskie is - if you're interested. I skimmed over FatMan's review, because I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but it sounds like he liked it. Already seen it twice? Bastard.
