Adapting the Red Star? I could only get through the first trade, and that was a hard slog. A whole lot of nothing happens in there, plot-wise, and after we get this world set up in excruciating detail, WHOOPSIE! We're changing it to something involving angels or ghosts or whatever. I wish you well, and I think I'll enjoy the condensed version better than the actual comic on this one. The art is pretty, though.

No me gusta! I didn't read the article b/c I wanted to comment on the new log-in procedure. I like that you don't have to type in your handle and password every post. I disliked the obscene amount of time it took for Test Mode to be over and return to a properly functioning site. I had ALOT of amazing things to say... but the moment has passed. You will all have to wait for The Fountain instead. But not even The Fountain can equal my knowledge and wisdom. I know b/c it is my purpose to know.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles
by performingmonkey
Sep 11th, 2006
08:41:40 PM
OK, they should just call the pilot this then change the title to 'Sarah Connor'. Seinfeld fans will understand that reference... Seriously, 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles' doesn't sound like a good title to me. Although it's better than calling it 'Terminator - the series' or anything like that, because then people will expect Terminators to be in it, which they shouldn't be...that often...maybe in the pilot but then, like Lost, we never get the monster again. I would WELCOME the show if I knew it was going to be good, but how can it stay within T continuity? If T3 didn't exist it would be easy, but seeing as it does and it gives us a definitive conclusion to Sarah Connor's story and Judgement Day finally happening, anything else will feel like '...yeah...whatever, just bring on T4' unless they plan on a) Making this series in a 'bubble' seperate from the movies, b) Pretending that T3 doesn't exist, c) Screwing with John Connor's memory at the end of the series so he forgets all the 'Neo' Terminators and 'Dark' Terminators and all kinds of fucked up shit that have just happened over the last 100 or so episodes, d) Have Sarah Connor secretly alive during T3, she pretended to die of cancer so she could get into a morgue and blow it up...but then she somehow got transported into the future, and John meets her in T4. Oh...just make a good pilot, please.

Yo' hollywood hacks, shitcan this piss poor idea and make T4: "The Machine War" show humanity getting the shit kicked out of it by a bunch of robots! We want ACTION not Sarah getting her nails done.

It's about a woman who was literally CUT IN HALF! I'd say that this plays to De Palma's particular strengths and narrative obsessions (voyeurism, doubling of characters and events) better than Fincher's. Plus, Fincher's got his own serial killer movie coming out, so everybody's happy. ;o)

Just because you don't have the imagination to think up an interesting story for Sarah Connor, doesn't mean the writers can't. That's why they're credited writers and you're you.
To be fair, Happyfat73...

...the writers of every movie that wound up on MST3K were credited. I'm sure the writers for "Homeboys from Outer Space," "Into the Night with Rick Dees," and "Happily Ever After" were credited. At best, this will be like "Highlander: The Series" in that to make a show, it would seem that you have to pretty much ignore the source materials, at least when it comes to continuity.
I dunno...

I think Sarah Connor could be an inherently interesting character - even taken away from a series steeped in the Terminator Mythology. The whole paranoid, para-military, outlaw thing could sustain a compelling series. If it revolved around killing a Terminator-of-the-week then it would be weak as piss. But a series about Sarah and her paranoid, para-military, outlaw friends could be great, IMO.
I imagine that The Sarah Connor Chronicles would...
by LeiaDown&FuckHer
Sep 11th, 2006
10:35:54 PM
...basically be a sci-fi spin on The Fugitive, with a lone Terminator tracking her and her brat cross country, leaving a wave of destruction in it's wake, but never quite catching her, with many a "dramatic run in and narrow escape" while token friendly guests stars get killed in the crossfire, meanwhile you'll also have some fed leading the national manhunt for america's most wanted fugitive slowly starting to wonder what the hell is going on as more and more things don't make sense or quite add up, and then you'll have your usual batch of shady government, military and cyberdyne peeps out to shut her up once and for all, or playing clean up and cover up type games. Plus there will probably be a "Dream Reese" guiding her and pushing her to keep running. And I imagine the whole thing will be set post T1 and T2, with the events of T3 not considered as part of continuity in the strictest sense of things. And you know what, it is within the bounds of possibility to make something like that work, at least for a while, but without Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor I find that I just don't give a fuck. Maybe it'll surprise, and I'm sure I'll check it out when/if it hits, but right now I find I honestly just don't care.

Holy shinola Batman, the freaking RED STAR into a movie? Timour Bekmambetov's movies aren't what I would call high-end cinima, but he really captures that bankrupt, cold, giant Soviet style very well with his films. I think that if the fanboys can wrap thier heads around the fact that it won't be EXACTLY like the comics, then it will be a nice, early spring, late summer style hit. You know what I mean by fanboys wrapping thier heads around changes..."But Jean Grey was supposed to have killed herself on the moon!" What a bunch of geek-ass losers.
That was hilarious! Conversation crashing, bail out!

What LeiaDown&FuckHer described sounded pretty cool. I'd watch that. Although, instead of a "dream Reese" motivating her, it would probably be dreams of the post-apocalyptic war. Since there's such a huge chunk of her life missing between the original Terminator and T2, my bet is that it takes place between those two flicks. It would be about her learning to fight, making connections, teaching/raising her son, being on the road, tryin' to stick it to the man & Bill Gates, gradually growing crazier & crazier, etc. The series finale would end in her capture and committal & John being placed in foster care.

Perhaps you should be a "credited" writer on the S.C.C. The crux of the franchise is the fucking "Terminators", hence the title of films which was TERMINATORS! The fucking Sarah Connor Chronicles makes as much sense as a T.V. show about Jim Gordon sans Batman. I'm sure a "credited' writer could make that work too. Just in case you lack the imagination to understand my post removing the central theme from a movie franchise and making a T.V. show with the leftovers isn't imaginative it's LAZY.
The Terminator Wasn't About Terminators
by MarkoOhNo
Sep 13th, 2006

It was about survival. Preservation of the species. Human will. Blah blah blah. All those good cliches. The Terminators were just the motivational factors. I'm sure there'll still be a Terminator popping up every so often. This would merely be a change of focus from one aspect (don't stop moving or you'll die) to another (run, hit, hide, prepare for armageddon). That's my prediction, anyway. Y'know, it makes no sense to bash on a show when you don't even have any details on it yet. :P
It's about the Terminators

If you want to make a show about survival, human will and all those other cliches why bother with the terminator connection at all? You want real survival show a single mother trying to raise her son in Iraq or gang torn parts of L.A. Sarah Connor without Terminators is like Star Wars with out Jedi. Could it be done sure, but why bother. Beside's who's the target demographic for a show that presumably won't have or reallly need to have any action. If there are no robots, androids or whatever this show won't work. Sarah Connor training for Armegeddon? Are you kidding me? How much more traing would she need at this point? If this show works get ready for the "New Ripley Adventures (without Aliens)" and the "Jimmy Olson Files". MarjoOhno, you're telling me you've never heard of a new show and said "That's stupid" and never watched it?
