You admire Mira Sorvino because she can hold her own onscreen against LISA KUDROW????? Now, don't get me wrong here -- I love Lisa. But putting people like Chow Yun Fat and Woody Allen, both seasoned pros who have been international stars for 20 or 30 years, next to the fearsome acting chops of LISA KUDROW, is pretty silly.

Now, I like to think of myself as a gal who doesn't let the success of others, even undeserving others, get to me. I don't find myself bitter that Melanie Griffith ever had a career. Hey, grab the golden ring when you can, I always say. Okay, I never said that, but I might have. All these things aside, I find Mira Sorvino one of the biggest yawn-fests to hit the screen in a long long time. For one thing, her acting is nothing to write home about. Except maybe to papa Paul if you wanted to see him bawling like a hungry baby. She's adequate in most roles, nothing more. She doesn't make my eyes follow her wherever she may be on screen, she doesn't shine, she doesn't delight. She's no Holly Hunter. And then there's her looks. Hot? Good gravy. I've had suntans hotter. I suppose these things are all in the eye of the beholder but when I go to the movies and see Jennifer Lopez or Famke Janssen or Salma Hayek or Michelle Pfeiffer... poor Mira looks like she got hit with the plain and washed out stick. As for Val, boy he was good when he was an actor versus a movie star.

I don't think people have issues, as much as they are tired of Hollywood casting big names for the sake of casting big names. I thought Sorvino was good in Aphrodite, but since then she hasn't exactly picked the best movies. Mimic? Come on. High School Reunion? Please. Her movie choices are part of the reason people don't want to see her. She got lucky with one good role, now she picks nothing but crap. Kilmer is a good actor, but I don't think he's ever had chemistry with any female lead. And I agree, Kilmer was a better actor before he become the big star. His best movies were his earlier ones, most definately

Hey now! Mira Sorvina is hot and a good actress (remember that Oscar?)Mimic, Replacement Killers, and Romy & Michele were exactly oscar material, but sheesh you'd be doing fun movies if you were a young hot chick like her probably. And she is something to write home about...I thought she was really great (she distincly stood out) in her small role in Quiz Show. Did I mention she's hot and Quentin sure missed out with losing her? Oops...Quentin reads this site...don't worry Quentin! I defend you against Don Murphy supportors! Hehehe.
