And although season 2 in itself was not so great I'm sure the DVD set will rock hard. More of those great candid cast interviews and maybe a retrospective doco on the impact and cult status of the show would be nice.

As much as I love what New Line and Peter Jackson did with the original TE and EE DVDs, I find that I am somewhat disgusted that they would make this attempt to squeeze the last buck out of the DVDs before switching over to Blu-Ray. ***The same goes for another hero of mine, Bruce Springsteen, who in October will be releasing a new edition of "the Seeger Sessions" cd, containing three or four additional songs, six months after the release of the original. I can't tell ya how pissed off I am that he's doing this. Double dipping -- bah, humbug!!!

rifftrax.com offers new Mike Nelson commentaries in MP3 format that can be downloaded and played concurrently with the movie being riffed, so there's no squables over film rights. Mike recently riffed Star Trek V with none other than Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo) and it was fucking hilarious. Next best thing to MST3K. Now bring in Trace, dammit!

All the stuff with 'Wee Britian' and Charlize Theron was just awful in Arrested Development; too bad they let it take up so much time, but the series really recovered in its final seven episodes, which were as good as anything they ever did. Entertainment Weekly published a notice in the July 6th issue that Paramount had told them that both Twin Peaks seasons (with pilot) would be newly available sometime later this year. I'll believe it when I see it.

Jim Gordon juggfuckled the bomb in my ribcage before having a beer and cheeting on his wife...the hottest tomboy beanpole on the planet. On topic: Desperation was King's last futile attempt to write a decent book; last good thing that came out of him was probably Pet Sematary.

It's no 24 or anything but it's a fairly interesting thriller. Sutherland does a surprisingly good job at playing a federal agent without completly invoking Jack Bauer. Eva Longoria is just sort of...there and Michael Douglas is old. So very, very old. Nevertheless, he bangs Kim Bassinger and Sutherland's character's cute wife. And he doesn't even play a powerful actor/producer.

It's no All The President's Men or anything, but it's tightly directed and well-acted (aside from Eva Longoria, and at least she's easy on the eyes). Worth the rental, at the least.

I just mentioned that on another talkback here last night--that and Trilogy of Terror (aka two warm-ups to Karen Black vs. The Toothy Doll) are essential 70's horror flicks that show the gorehounds how it's done. What a great surprise to see both coming out. Oh, and the idea that The Andy Griffith Show jumped the shark in its seventh season is too funny for words. I can't believe people waste time on all this TV show watching, life is short!

"Griffith" ended on a good note, after two misconceived seasons. "Trilogy" is an icon - I was in junior high, and the day after it aired, we couldn't stop talking about it. "Jessica" I can't wait to see - I know I saw it, but I can't remember. Has anyone seen the "Trilogy" sequel?? I assume it was 90s pablum.

Now, if I was going to give a gift set, this would be nice since it gives a choice of watching the theatrical or the EE's. Dammit PJ, just release ALL of the stuff that was cut...like everything filmed for the Battle of the Last Alliance. ** Add me to the list of King Crimson fans...Bill Bruford and Robert Fripp...all one needs to say.

Mori- Totally agree with you on Curtis Armstrong. Just working my through the last MOONLIGHTING box, the season he showed up, and have been amazed by what great work he did on the show from the comic stuff like "Atomic Shakespeare" to some more dramatic stuff like his character's relationship with Miss DiPesto. Why isn't he getting more work?!!!??!!??

Yes, the second half of season 10 is indeed starting, but no one seems to think this is the case. Even Comedy Central hs announced it as a big deal, and will be doing marathons or something to celebrate the starting of the 10th season, and they're releasing the "South Park Hits Vol 1." in conjunction to celebrate this event. It's just very confusing.

The first movie I saw years later and found it to be a little too girly. It didn't hold up well. But then I could be completely wrong. I still love the stoned scene in Romancing though. Funny.

Drew, have you (or anyone else reading) watched to new edition of Meet The Feebles yet? How are the extras? Is the print good? The print on the first release is one of the worst I've seen on DVD. Hopefully there's improvement. Also, I just found out last week that Polanski's Repulsion has been out on DVD for a while. Have you viewed that disc? How is it? Repulsion is one title I can see myself getting and then finding out the next day Criterion is planning an ultimate edition. As always, I enjoy the DVD column.
'Looking for comedy in the muslim World' was utter shit

I'm usually never so harsh on movies and I can even tolerate some that are annoying or bad. But this one was just that bad. I was excited to see it. It had an awesome premise! Pretty decent trailer... So I went with a friend to see it. We're both brown, and figured this would be funny. Unfortunately the first part had some subtle ha-ha moments, but eventually the film goes nowhere 1/2 way through... My reaction to the film overall is pretty much the same as the Indian Audience Brooks performed in front of. That scene bored the hell out of me that I was just wishing it would end soon. Albert Brooks should've actually gone and tried to look for some actual comedy in the muslim world before attempting to even approach a film with the same title. With the way it ends I swear, it's almost like they were making the movie up as they went and didn't know where to go from there... Maybe that's the irony of it all...considering the way the movie goes. Even so, this film sucked.
