We get it. You're going to call everything "over the top", "overestimated", "hyped" etc (Especially the classic movies and cult-actors) in every talkback. It's almost funny. Keep doing it, it might grow in time.

This looks like it's going to be another great performance by Sean. I mean who else would be his competition this year for best Actor?

By the looks of that trailer, this movie is trying to be Miller's Crossing, A Time to Kill, SeaBiscuit, Tucker: a Man and his Dream, and My Cousin Vinny, all rolled into one.

I watched this trailer but have no real idea what the film is meant to be about. Too much emphasis on Penn's performance and not enough setting out the plot.

Don't worry, Mark. Some of us know you won Best Actor at the 2000 Montreal Film Fest for "You Can Count On Me". Great Movie.

... All the King's Men is one of the greatest novels of the twentitieth century. It used to be on the required reading list for American Secondary Schools. It won the Pulitzer Prize in 1947. This film is a remake, the original film was shot in 1949. The original won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Broderick Crawford playing Willie Stark won for Best Actor, and Mercedes McCambridge won for Best Actress.

Unless you're a fucking dick or a frigid Republican cunt who can't see beyond a person's politics to realize that he's the best actor this side of Brando's fat rotten corpse. His accent is a trifle irritating during the speeches, but it settles down nicely later on. Ruffalo and Clarkson should be in every movie ever made. And Winslet should be single.
Sean Penn tries to hard

Sean Penn is one of the most overrated actors today. His performance in Mystic River was so over the top and unconvincing its a travesty he won Best Actor for it in 2003. Sean Penn is Sean Penn in every role... sorta like Will Smith, Jim Carrey and Kevin Costner (to name a few off the top of my head). These guys just can't deliver a performance that sells the character they are playing. Even Keanu Reeves can do better. LOL. There are plenty of big name actors who despite their stardom, consistantly take on rolls and become the characters. Sean Penn just isnt one of them. I think it has something to do with intelligence. Afterall, Sean Penn aint the brightest crayon in the pack.
Or should I say

35 year old man pretending to be a 17 year old frigid Republican cunt. And yeah, the one thing I notice when I look at Penn's performances in Fast Times At Ridgemont High, At Close Range, Sweet And Lowdown and Dead Man Walking are how exactly alike all four characters are.

I think it just crapped itself. And poor Mark Ruffalo didn't get any scenes in the trailer because he didn't have a little award blurb above his name, hence he isn't in the little winner/nominee club. Oh, and how shameful is it that Kate Winslet hasn't won a fucking Oscar??

She needs to play a mental or star in something to do with the Holocaust - she'd bag an Oscar for sure then. Also, she's filthy at the phone sex.

This shit looks like it's trying too hard. Sean Penn's accent is horendous. He is a little overrated, but I have to say that I thought he was good in Mystic River. Also, is it possible to ever buy Gandolfini as anything but Tony Soprano? Poor bastard.

they are completely the shit. everyone else in this is a blowhard and it makes the film feel sort of played-out and colorless. i sort of have a soft spot for sean penn but that's only because he gave me a gift certificate to tiffany's for christmas about 15 years ago. actually, come to think of it, it wasn't even enough to get one of those goddamned keychains.

I didn't catch remake of Manchurian Candidate, I sure as heck won't be watching "sourpuss" butcher this classic movie as well. The original is great. Make something ORIGINAL Hollywood!!! PS - The only time in the past 20 years Sean Penn has been enjoyable on screen was in Team America.
Yeah, Sean Penn seems to "try too hard" in this.

I can't believe how uncharismatic he seems. The character needs to ooze a roguish charm and confidence, and a voter-reassuring smile, and Sean Penn just doesn't seem to have it. Instead, he seems the opposite--he seems very nervous and uncomfortable all the time. Sean Penn's voice is very unnatural and annoying--not at all the reassuring and snakey voice that is required. Even Gandolfini seems more visually suited for Sean Penn's role. Gandolfini might not have the voice for Sean Penn's role, but then again Sean Penn doesn't seem to have the voice for the role, either.

who doesn't like Sean Penn? Please! There are plenty of people out there who are better actors than Penn, not saying Penn sucks, but come on, "Colonel Kane" Jonny Depp, Edward Norton, Ewan McGregor, Christian Bale, to name just a couple, could act circles around Penn, but they don't have the Oscar attention and "Classic Oscar Movies" that Penn got for that piece of trash called Mystic River. I'm not just trying to "bash" movies that I know everyone likes, but goddamn, for some reason, I hated that movie and had no idea why it got the praise it did. Oh and you know why I think those guys are better actors? Probably because they can play a multitude of roles and they continue to stretch their limits and abilities as an actor, whilst on the other hand we have Sean Penn, who seems to land the role of the "screaming bad-ass" guy in every movie he's in. Oh, well except when he played a retard in I Am Sam. That I'll give him. So in short, I guess what I'm trying to say is EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP RIDING THIS GUY'S DICK SO HARD! THAT SHIT WILL CHAFFE SOON AND THEN HE'LL BE NO GOOD TO ANYBODY, RIGHT?

Steve Zaillian should just stick to writing screenplays and that's it. All the shots in the trailer look like a waste of the beautiful cinematography which would've enhanced the top notch performances. As it stands (or as it appears from the trailer) he fills up the screen with too many shots of people/bodies.
