I've gotta agree with Mr. Nice Gaius. It's possible the flames are even some sort of comical device in the flick. Like Optimus gets painted with them somehow against his better wishes. Then by the next flick, or even for part of this one, he would be the classic red and blue. Who knows? I guess I'm not quite old enough to fall into the right age bracket but I'm assuming you'd have to have been a fan of the cartoon as a kid to think this was anything other than complete crap. When I was a kid I remember really really enjoying masters of the universe, a cartoon called "ox tales" and the ninja turtles. Funnily enough having watched tmnt the movie a year or so ago I didnt buy it I can safely say that it's not only terrible and clearly aimed at kids..but even for a kids movie it's still a ridiculous, badly acted piece of junk that is not "way better" than the likes of pokemon, teletubbies or whatever the little brats are into now. I'm not hatin', nothing wrong with reliving your childhood, all I'm saying is that you can't go back....this movie will not live up to your inner child's expectation...nothing can. You can live with the flames (which seem to be what're pissing most folks off) but you're upset because Prime's not flat-fronted? Several Primes have been flat-fronted. Many more have not. The current Classics release (a toy line touted as being the most faithful in appearance and spirit to the 1980s G1 designs) of Optimus is red and blue, sans flames and does not have a flat front. If the "fans" were the only ones paying to see it. Then the movie wouldn't generate enough income to justify making the sequels. I don't mind minor tweaks to give the trilogy a more mass appeal. Just an FYI, even though it should be obvious to everyone, those flames were NEVER confirmed to be the design for the Prime we will see in the movie. The pictures were intercepted (allegedly) by someone working with the toy companies. Probably early concept designs or something. So don't get your panties in a bunch over what is currently a non-issue. As far as people saying the movie is crap-- There is no movie yet. We've seen brief footage of an event that probably lasts about 30 seconds in the movie, and ofcourse TBers piss and moan generalizing that footage as representing the whole movie. You haven't seen shit, so saying the movie is going to suck, or sucks already just doesn't make sense. We haven't even seen a trailer yet. We haven't read the script yet. We haven't even seen a transformer yet. So... settle down and wait. ...some of the stills? It's not just Prime. They're putting flames on everyone. Bumblebee, Megatron, Shockwave, Wheeljack, Tyrese Gibson, Megan Fox, Bernie Mac, Jon Voight...EVERYBODY gets flame decals. Ask the writers why that is. The answer will surprise you.

I hope they aren't just using names that we've heard of before just to please fans. If the robots don't act and resemble the characters, don't use the names. Create new names. If they don't this will be a BIG fuck up.

Autobots - Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, Ratchet, Ironhide; Decepticons - Megatron, Starscream, Brawl, Bonecrusher, Barricade, Scorponok, Frenzy, Blackout. Looks like it is a reverse of the toyline which initially had much more Autobots than Decepticons.
