i read somewhere that they were doing what the Sopranos did...showing part of the season now and then finishing it up next year....so are they really considering that another season or is this really only like the "mid-season" finale?

I had even heard it was 22. This really pisses me off. When does the second half of the season air?

but they are doing a Sopranos-esque back 8. They're going to premiere when the Sopranos does, the idea being that HBO is passing the torch to what'll be its new "it" show.
So it is 20 something epsiodes?

I heard 18 and I heard 22. I definitly did not hear 12, since last season was 14, and I was sure this season would be more. If they're doing the split season, thats fine, that way we wont have to wait till next june for more shows (and then a shorter wait till next season). But this season better not be over in four episodes, cause not enough stuff has happened, and dammit, i wanted 18/20/22 episodes!

"as fans of the Howard Stern Show know, HBO is already shooting another season for us with Leslie Bibb and Artie Lange." he still does a show? I didn't know that.

They've cut the balls off of this show because they are whoring for syndication money down the road. Why have a strip club and no titties??...just absurd and fucking sad.

Vince, Eric and Ari are taking turns fucking up Vince's career. Meanwhile, Drama gets a pilot and Turtle's on his way to becoming Suge Knight. Green definitely got the best line this ep. It's the kind of line they probably wrote for Piven and gave to Green since he's the guest star. And it didn't once occur to me that I would want any of THOSE strippers to take off their tops. Anyone who wants to see uncovered breasts that badly can find them on the Net within a couple of mouse clicks, so what's the big deal?
Crap writing this season

seriously this season blows. even though the same people who wrote last season are credited for writing this season i can't help but think they had interns do everything. the show has lost all the tension that made it great with ari vs vince and co. there is no subtlety anymore either. last nights show has drama talking all brokeback to his massuese all episode and then, surprise!, the massuese thinks he wants to have gay sex with him! wow, didn't see that coming. last season was awesome. this season is so painful it pisses me off.

as far as the writing ... say what you will, but its better than just about anything on network television these days. I enjoyed/enjoy SMALLVILLE when I get a chance to watch it, but it is fast-approaching hackery. The writers of Entourage are at least trying new things, even if they lay an egg here and there. BTW, when the hell are they going to have a Rosario Dawson cameo (have they already?) - I'm pretty sure she would do it. Hell - how about a Comic-Con episode??
rightarm4Rosario, are you kidding?

Season two had an episode that revolved all around Comic-Con. In regard to the quality of the writing, I don't know if I agree or not. Season 1 and 2, I watched consecutively on DVD, and obviously now, when you have to wait a week for an episode, it's less good, so I don't know if the writing itself has lost momentum, or if I were to watch all of season three back to back, if there'd still be a noticeable difference.

Oh man the Drama stuff was amazing! The joke was not that the masseuse went gay, the joke is how oblivious Johnny is to the fact that he's gay for his masseuse. "I don't want those hands touching anyone else tonight" lol. I love when Doug Ellin writes an episode by himself
So what ever happened to these plotlines.

Carla Gugino would play an agent that steals Chase away from Ari... Lloyd we find out is a part of the gay mafia... Lloyd becomes an agent... All of these were supposed to be a part of this season.

Becuase of the writing but maybe I was too harsh on this show. I'll give this season another chance on dvd.

this season has been a letdown, and the latest episode was symbolic of the rest. The brokeback drama, ari freaking out during a losing streak and the strippers were so cliche, obvious and boring that I rate this the worst episode ever done........but then the jackson pollack line nearly saved it.
Gambling

And it made no sense that Ari wanted to gamble more...he would be too smart for that and know that the odds were they would give more money to the casino. It was just some forced writing...not a terribe episode but pretty substandard. And having a Vegas strip club with no nudity was just the icing on the crappy tasting cake. The masseuse bit was overdone...but Drama is too over the top for me most all the time, so nothing new there.
