Is CBS still the station for Old Mother Fuckers?

That used to be the joke about CBS. Its was the network your Grandparents watch. It had Walker Texas Ranger and Nash Briges for christ sakes... But is it still the old people network? I'm not sure anymore.

I was thinking the same thing. I was like I don't any of those shows. Just tell me when Veronica, Lost and Battlestar premiere. And Nip Tuck.

you're living in the agony of defeat. I am the master of your whole keep. I'm THE PASTOR, YOU'LL FLOCK LIKE SHEEP. Step into the town and break the walls down. Your heartbeat is the only sound. Step into the light and then you'll know, you were stopped and dropped by THE WALLS OF JERICHO."

Crikey! Only a little over a month until The Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan's Kiwi Moobs are thrust back upon an unsuspecting world. The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated.

i'm not saying they produce crap -some of those shows are very entertaining. but not one of them is something i'd make any effort to watch week after week.

The ones that haven't been recycled a million times anyways, and they've seemed to be trying to avoid that the past few seasons.

The girls generally wear less for the competitions than they do at camp. There's a reason Survivor has been a top-ten show for six years now.

I can't imagine ever voluntarily watching any of that shit. I mean, the only thing that might potential is The Unit, and jesus, I've never seen more jingoistic watered-down crap. It's amazing that the show is made by Shawn Ryan and David Mamet. You certainly can't tell without reading the credits.
also, I read that as "Survivor: COCK ISLANDS"...

I applaud CBS for being a little more adventurous this season, but CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Close To Home, Numb3rs, NCIS, Criminal Minds, and The Unit are all the exact same crap. I can describe a majority of those shows now: There's a lead male character, some hot girl, the one minority, about 2 or 3 other forgettable regulars and there's a crime. When a network has 8 dramas that could technically cross over with each other and make sense... then there's a problem. Forget CBS, I hope NBC and ABC crushes them this season.
I have been disappointed in "The Unit"

I couldn't wait for this series when I heard Mamet and Shawn "The Shield" Ryan were going to be involved, but thus far it hasn't held me. There were some good moments, like the SERE school episode, but overall it's been abit dull. I wish the took it to FX in the first place so that it could be as gritty a show as it should be.

They better not move The Unit to FX! That channel had the best military themed show ever and cancelled it.

Have you read Eric Haney's book 'Inside the Delta Force'? The first season was basically what's in the book, some of the training, the missions, etc. Have you been in the military? One thing that needs to be recognized is that tv shows need to be sanitized for the FCC and crazy Puritans who might get offended by seeing somebody get shot. I would love the show even more if they would take that next step in reality, ie shit hits the fan and gibs come squirting out. Really though, the show is just fine. I love it because there's nothing else on tv like it and it has an intensity about it. Sherm, are you talking about Over There? I liked the show, but it got a little campy with the overdone family storylines back in the US. But all that stuff that was represented in the show does happen in real life. I'm looking forward to the next season of The Unit. ___KNEEL___

cancelled I wouldn't really miss it. Saw the Jericho pilot and am really looking forward to the show. And I never tape Survivor so I can't forward through the challenges. I usually make dinner while Survivor is on. I find it's good enough to just listen. No need to watch the challenges since Probst always does a running commentary.

Jericho looks like a promising new show. Actually, this looks to be one of the better Fall seasons in recent memory. Studio 60, The Nine, Jericho, Heroes, Six Degrees, 30 Rock, Shark, Smith, Knights of Prosperity, Traveler, Friday Night Lights, The Black Donnellys, Kidnapped. I can't remember the last time there was this many new shows I was looking forward to.

...Sunny in Philadelphia" on FX? It's basically Arrested Development meets South Park, or Friends on crack and PCP. I've yet to hear Herc mention it - but it's one of the best comedys on TV right now.

Yes, I have read Haney's book. I also have read Beckwith's book as well as Couch's books on the SEALS. Does that prove anything to you? My point was that the show's storylines are not compelling enough without the grit that a cable channel like FX can provide. Just because "there's nothing on tv like it" doesn't mean it's good. I had much higher hopes, and expected much more from Mamet and Ryan. Most of the problem, though, is having to deal with network television.

You don't need to prove anything to me. I guess I didn't really pay attention to your wish that The Unit should have gone to FX for grittier realism. I wouldn't have thought it would have been better since look how well Over There did. ___KNEEL___

The hokey lets all hang together speeches were particularly gag worthy. And if there is a small town stereotype missing in that cast, I didn't see it. Not to mention the big city cop who seems to know exactly what to do every step of the way when a nuclear bomb explodes -please! A couple of very good actors, and the scene with the tape was well done. But the script needs a serious amount of work to make this watchable.

Amber, Elisabeth, and Colleen Haskell all have to line up and see how much anal they can take without begging for mercy. From me. Then and only then will I watch Survivor. Oh, who am I kidding ... I love the damn show. More entertaining than crap like According to Jim and Hope & Faith, that's for sure.
