In a nutshell: Ok, an angel and a demon get it on in secret. The resulting offspring is a creature called Genesis, which has power rivaling God's. Genesis is held in containment by the Angel in heaven till it escapes. Genesis, having no will of it's own, joins with a dissillusioned southern minister named Jesse Custer (The Preacher). The process of the joining makes a big BOOM and kills his entire congregation, so he goes off wondering, trying to figure out what happened. It turns out that Genesis has empowered him with the word of God. He tells you to do something, you do it. Period. Meantime, the Angels discover that Genesis had bonded with Custer, but don't know what to do. Unfortunetly, God has gone on vacation, so they unearth a guy called the Saint of Killers (his name pretty much says it all) to kills Custer and Genesis. Back on earth, Custer decides he needs to find God in order to tell him to get his ass back to work. He is joined by his ex-girlfriend Tulip, whomeis trying to start a new career as an assasin, and a hard drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy. There, that help?

Given the stench coming from the Sandman project let's hope the last report is right and Preacher never gets off the ground, at least as long as Warner is, well, Warner. Of course if Kevin is attached as producer, and he can wrest control away from the usual drooling idiots at WB...
Why Warners?

Why does everyone act like this is set at Warners? Unless I've missed something, there has been no major studio announced, especially since it's in it's current status as only an option. Sure, Preacher is published by DC, but Ennis and Dillon (the artist) own the characters entirely, and since Smith has a first look contract with Mirimax, I don't think it's firmly set at Warners, bastards that they are.

all right. kevin smith as producer. sounds good. the director of crap piles such as tank girl, ghost in the machine and freddys dead...sounds like id rather pay a full price ticket to go see "apt pupil" again. and warners? how bad are they?!? goddamn, this is getting annoying. there could be so many good movies made, if only they would shop around to studios OTHER than WARNER. really. (and this new registration thing pisses me off)
