1. Can a non-american citizen, says an Australian, enter? 2. When you say an AICN character, what the hell do you mean? For example are we drawing Moriaty the reviewer or Prof Moriaty the Sherlock Holme villian. This is gonna be sweet. I am gonna have fun even if i don't win. I might buy one of these they look pretty neat.

I've seen about 3 reviews on line. I'd like to hear from someone on this site. Is it worth it? The reviews on the other sites are very bipolar. What is your take? If we liked it, is it worth checking out in 3D?

Yes, anybody in the world can enter. Even Australians. :) AICN characters could be based on the Cartuna illustrations, real life pictures of us (if you can find them, of course) or whatever you have in your mind. Your choice as the artist. And yes, I'm on Dial-Up. Telecom here in NZ has a monopoly on high speed and charges out the nose, although I hear the govt. is stepping in to dissolve this monopoly. Sucks to be on dialup, but at least they aren't charging me per meg I up or download. Do have fun with the contest! Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

How about a page that provides us with pictures or photos of AICN characters? Even pro illustrators have character profiles. It's a real bitch drawing something if you don't know what it looks like.
No need for a SR vs. X3 TB because it is simple...

X3 sucked because of dialogue and shitty direction but had some decent action. Superman had great dialoue and direction but very little action. X3 barely made back it's money and is a semi-hit even though opening with 120 million and then having a hard time doubling that proves something. Superman is far too long and not nearly enough action for people to have repeat viewings, it will be liked but will look shitty in the BO because I mean look how much it cost to make. So in the end they are both failures and summer 06 blows ass. Pirates will eat up the BO.

"I prefer hand drawn to computer work, but if you're a wiz with computer art, go for it." I don't really get this, I mean, I hand draw on the computer with a tablet, it's the same thing, the only difference is the speed at which you can add color the artwork, not to mention the money you save in materials. Hand drawn is hand drawn, no matter what medium it's in.

Marketing and word of mouth based on previous two movies, that's all. Sequels of popular movies, no matter how badly they suck, if they're marketed correctly will outstrip the originals. Matrix Reloaded made 281.6 million domestic, the Matrix only made 171.5 million. Enough people thought Reloaded sucked that Revolutions only grossed 139.3 million. I guarantee if they make an X4, it will falter behind the rest of the series.

Imax 3D sucks balls!!!
by Gay Jesus Christ

I fucking bought those tickets well in advance and paid like 20 bucks over the internet for each Imax ticket! I waited in line for a half hour but I still did not get a good seat. The thing about Imax 3D is this. The fucking screen is soooo damn big that you need to be smack damn in the back row and centered down the middle of the theatre. That's like only 10 percent of the seats. All the other seats are way too close and off center. the second thing is that the imax 3d glasses need to be straight and not dirty. My glasses were full of human sebaceous oil from their sweat and pores. I cleaned it but I also noticed that the glases were warped. The glasses are easily warped by body heat much like old 3d glasses so the picture is kind of distorted. third, the movie is only 15 minutes in 3D in intermittent times with a little eyeglass symbol alarm on the bottom of the screen that tells you when to put on or remove your glasses which is really fucking annoying cause sometimes I was too engrossed that I didn't see the symbol too take my glasses off and I was watching the movie with my glasses for an extra ten minutes before I noticed nobody was wearing them. also, some scenes look like they deserve to be in 3D but for some reason they didn't do it and some crap pedestrian scenes they made 3D. So you are left with hit or miss 3D. THe big plane sequence was done in 3d But I felt like my retinas were burning from all the 3d jitter. I felt I'd be better off just watching it in a regular theatre. Imax 3D is a gimmick and is crap. The only way it would be good is if you got the back row, center seat that you'd have to wait in line for 2 hours beforehand to get, unwarped and pristine glasses, and the whole movie to be in 3D. Save your money.

IMAX 3D *spoilers*

Saw it in IMAX 3D last night and it was a bit annoying - especially during the airplane rescue. I was in the center but in the second row so my eyes were going a little crazy and I almost had an anyeruism during the first two sequences. I felt that when it was a CG sequence, the 3D was fairly flawless but when they went back to the actors it degenerated a but. The third 3D sequence (yacht rescue), with the use of the water, I thought was pretty great.

I'm pretty sure Quint means that you should send 100k as a thumbnail image, that you don't have to create the original piece with that resolution. I'm sure he'll want a bigger resolution for the winning picture when he posts it and the runner ups.

couldn't we just send ya links to a photobucket account or sumthin? I'm planning (keyword:planning, possibly not attempting) a full-fledged comic. And even if I was to send it in one page at a time, it would be more than 100k. And if I did the thumbnail thing, he wouldn't be able to read it.
BTW, Could we keep this strictly on the contest?

If the files are compressed by converting them into JPGs, outputting as PDF, or zipped, you can output the entry with PLENTY of detail and keep it under 100k. Plan ahead, people. It's really not that hard.

Singer and the Script writers should be shot...
by wolack22
Jul 3rd, 2006
04:45:47 PM
I don't get how every director and writer out there says and fails at the same thing over and over again, that special effects are great now but storytelling is the most important part and the crutch of every film.(ie Special effects have reached such a point where we can do almost anything in film, where you can make a man fly ... but it's how how you tell the story, the dialogue, acting, script, that's what really counts..) SUPERMAN RETURNS WAS A LETDOWN! A disappointment beyond all disappointments. The five failures of Superman Returns are as follows 1) Giving Superman a child... since when is it a good idea to give superman a kid? How did it not cross your mind that supes screwing lois then forcing her to lose her memory of that event didn't amount to raping her in her sleep, sexual assaut anybody? Superman having kids is a cop out, an easy out for dramatic effect. There's no need to put any ingenuity, or imagination into the film if you just give them a kid. I could have done that. I saw the ages of the scriptwriters for this new superman and they look like they're 12 years old. Since when did Warner Brothers think it was a good idea to give two 12 year olds the benefit of the doubt to write a superman script. A KID IN SUPERMAN? FUCK YOU SINGER AND FUCK YOU WB! All im saying is you better kill him off in the next movie or he better not get any screen time at all. He better die and it better look good and realistic 2)Kate Bosworth, She was @#$@#$ING HORRIBLE AS LOIS LANE... since when is it a good idea to cast a 23 YEAR OLD AS LOIS LANE??? who was probably 22 or 21 when superman started shooting. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU??? Seriously I will honestly kill myself with an ice pick if anyone can say that they honestly know a 21 or 22 year old working as a ace reporter for a huge newspaper in a huge city anywhere in North America, at the top of their game... and the excuse is she's playing a character older than her, that's bs. she looks like she's 22 and she acts like she's 22....she sucked, the end... she was the equivelant of katie holmes in Batman Begins except that character you can dispose of Lois you cant.. she better age it up for the next one.. maybe smoke a few packs of smokes 3) The fact that the film was 2 and a half hours, but you could add up all the dialogue fit it onto a 10 minute reel. I know it's based on a comic book , but a speech about prometheus and some hellos and how's the weather isn't going to cut it.. luthor and supes barely say 2 words to each other... all i remember is 'all i see is some old man's pathetic attempt at a joke' that supes says to him...i know they have a long history ,but play it up come on pleasee... give them some banter 4) IM SICK OF LUTHOR! bring on darkseid, or doomsday or brainiac... someone with some power to combat superman.. if your not smart enough to give luthor a good motive and plan, dont use him.. you fucking 12 year old scriptwriters 5) Seriously 20 years and this was the best you hollywood hacks could come up with? 20 FUCKING YEARS TO GET HIM BACK ON SCREEN... and this is what you give us? Why didn't I go into film in university? I could have been doing acid and drugs too, @#$#ing lots of women, and then a couple of lame independent movies later about the beauty of pancakes or something and i could be directing the next superman, or writing the next donald duck script. THIS WAS A DISGRACE TO SUPERMAN!!!!!!! A DAMN DISGRACE!!! I wanted a real superman.. the one i looked up to when i was little, not some dead beat dad and rapist who can barely string two sentences together. screw you singer.

and, I've got the story down for a full fledge comic, buuut, one hell of a case of artist's block. *sigh* Not only that, I think I may have written too much, to where it will be impossible to do, even if I get my groove back. I can't trim it, because if I just include the required battle, it would come off as gay. (It's more of a farce than a tribute, there's plenty of sight gags, movie nods, injokes to AICN, and a great deal of juvenile bathroom humor.) Sure, I could try to do something else, but it just wouldn't compare. Oh well, I've got like a week, hopefully I'll get something in.
