barred from descrimination against women by feminism, males now turn upon each other, creating a new race of subserviants by making other males their "bitches", calling each other by girl names, claiming they "own" each other, and constrantly questioning each other's sexuuality. This kind of prison sensibility is also on diosplay on shows like "Scrubs" males go out of their way to treat eachother like slave girls. I guess boys must be boys, even without females.

sorry ... not to be rude, but that reference is lost on me. if anything, helen keller herself was a miracle, but i don't know that she could be described as a miracle worker, though she had many great accomplishments. was that a line in "entourage"? if so, i'm disappointed, because the lines are usually much wittier than that.

but i think his/her criticism is a little misdirected. while it's true that "entourage" has a habit of having its characters refer to each other as "bitch," "lady," etc., i'd venture to say it's actually one of the less machoistic and homophobic shows around. at least it hasn't resorted to homosexuality as a punchline, which another critical darling ("arrested development," which i also love) did every episode with one of its main characters. "entourage" is simply showing what it's like for a few rather typical american guys to suddenly start living the obscenely wealthy, famous lifestyle. the guys talk like normal young, straight guys. i think the show neither endorses or condemns the way they subvert each other with language like "bitch" and "fag." it's simply an honest. that said, i can't believe i'm actually posting a diatribe about the sexual and moral undertones of such a shallow (though immensely enjoyable) show.

Season 2 is when the show found it's footing and is incredibly enjoyable. Ari is worst that before (in a good way) the gang seemed to have gelled off screen. And Eric becomes the character that hold everything together. Season 2 was great stuff. And this new episode was good. I don't get the hate.
Newsflash! Calling a dude a "Bitch" did not start......

With Eminem... I live in The Bronx, grew up in NYC. Guys calling another guy a "Bitch Ass N*gga", "Bitch Ass", "You Fucking Bitch", "Pussy", "Fag", "Soft" is real old. All that shit pre-dates the 90's. Is it right? Maybe not. But you have to have a sense of humor about the way guys talk to each other. These words can be bad or be funny, depending on who you are talking to and how you say it. The other day one of my friends blew off a guys night of drinking and watching the Tarver fight to work out problems with his girl and he was quickly called "Gay". And don't get sensitive about being called one of the above by a friend as a joke because then people will really think something is wrong with you. "Entourage" is pretty truthful in the depiction of straight male friendships. Maybe Cookoolookoo (or whatever his name is) should spend less time trying to look smarter than everyone (in a fucking talk back!) by writing stupid and useless pseudo college essays trying to find hidden meanings behind a comedy on TV. People are stupid, it's like when the OC was credited for the term "Chicken Head".

I'm "biracial" as I'm half white and half latino, believe me when I say that calling another dude, bitch, pussy, fag, etc. is not imported from black culture. It is simply a thing guys do to each other. When my dad was playing "Hide the Belt" (a game where you hide a belt in an alley and whoever finds it gets to whip the others) in an all white neighborhood, they called each other fag. My mother's brothers call each other gay or the equivelant of "bitch" in spanish. I'm sure that this is true all over the fucking world. It's not something that should be done in mixed company so, maybe it seem like it is everywhere. But this is how guys act when they are freinds and no one else is around.

I'm not one to usually address anyone personally in a talkback, but seriously, shut the fuck up. Your observations are off base and you're only embarrassing yourself with your transparent attempt at appearing insightful. The fact that guys address each other as "pussy" or "bitch" is often done jokingly as a term of endearment and is in no way cause by or influenced by "feminism". If anything this show is a testement to the failure of the feminist movement because women on the show are very rarely shown as anything more than objects to be had. Not saying thats the way it should be, just the way it is. That being said a decent opener to a decent show. This show would be nothing without Piven but i have missed watching it since the second season ended. The second season was a definite improvement over the first, and while there is almost a formulaic pattern to a lot of the jokes (especially those involving Johnny Drama) I still laugh several times each episode. To me its just fun escapist summer entertainment.

by Big Bad Clone

My childhood was very far from fucked up. I am saying that in close knit men will often bond by playfully insulting each other. My father is not abusive, I was pointing out a game that he and his boyhood chums played with each other back in mid-20th centuary. I used that to illustrate that boys were jerks to each other back then as well. I am not ganging up on you or bashing your opinion. I am merely adding my observations to counter your assertions. If cannot be civil about this, then why bother communicating your opinion to us? This isn't a cable news show, we can take our time and make our points. So rather than insult me and my family, would you kindly offer evidence to support your claim?

For some reason this show doesn't work for me in 30 minute doses. I think I will wait until the season is over and watch the whole thing in one big marathon like I did with season 1 and most of season 2. It seems to make a huge difference with this show for some reason. The Sopranos is better in a marathon too, but it works better week to week than Entourage does...maybe because it's just 30 min...I dunno, but that's the case. But I lost the groove from last season and this episode didn't resonate with me. It seemed too forced and formulaic too with James Woods, etc.
It wasn'r very civil of BLWisass to tell me ....

to shut the fuck up. I would call that rather uncivil. Also, from your description of "hide the belt" I had no idea when your father was playing this game. It sounded like he was playing it with you. ***** now I finally watched Entourage tonight and I have to admit, the toned down the homophobia a bit, although the misogengy seemed to be cranked up an equal amount. All in all, I found "lucky Louie" to be five times as funny.
Well, then I'll call BLWiseass' mother...
by Big Bad Clone
Jun 12th, 2006
11:14:50 PM
would that make you feel better. On could argue that verbal abuse among guys is a way to "toughen" them up so that insults from others don't cut so deep. You calling me an idiot didn't bother me because I've heard much worse things from guy friends, brothers and cousins. Frankly, I'm a bit concerned that you would bother lashing out at others when you could have easily joked or debated with them. ---- and how homophobic can this show be if they had Drama and Turtle double team a girl last season?

And so is your feminism teacher at whatever college you just returned from for summer vacation. Men have always insulted each other good-naturedly, and the number one insult has always been calling the other guy a woman. Or a homosexual. There are plenty of Westerns and War movies from the 30's where a character refers to other guys as "ladies". By the way, the only thing feminism accomplished is making women have to work 40+ hours a week AND raise kids/cook/keep a clean household. Feminism made the incredibly foolhardy mistake of thinking that men were keeping women down/barefoot/pregnant, when in reality women are the way they are regardless and independent of men. Women had it made in the 50's, and feminism fucked it up. As a man, I am not complaining because it didn't change much for me, but just imagine how many women would love to be stay-at-home Moms and not have to work full-time just so there is enough money.

Do we really buy Rail Thin-Lollipop Head Vince as a guy who can realistically bed all the "Skanks" in Hollywood? I'm surprised they haven't made Adrian get into better shape yet... Isn't this show created by Marky Mark (a guy who made abs and Calvin Klein underwear popular in the 90's?) Why hasn't someone told Adrian Grenier to beef up a bit? His TV alter ego just played a fucking Superhero in a big budget movie, even "Bitch Ass Fag" Tobey Maguire got into better shape to play Spider"Fag". And this show needs to at least be 45 minutes to an hour long now. It seems too short. "Weeds" on Showtime has the same problem.
