Boston Legal vs. Scrubs

I like both and will TIVO Scrubs, but you gotta watch BL. The writing is better, the characters are better, the dialogue is better. Scrubs was funny in it's hayday, but I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day and we both agreed that ever since Scrubs decided it had to end every episode as if it was an after school special, it's gone downhill. Each episode used to have a nice warm message, but not it's like the whole thing revolves around it. It's like Friends. No man watch Friends after the second season without being forced to by his wife or girlfriend.

Scrubs sucks. Boston Legal is funny as hell. Shatner and Spader make a great team, and tonight we get to see more of the squid, so I'm in. There's been no stopping Shatner ever since he ditched the serious picture of himself and embraced his god-like campiness.

Did a group of writers ever misfire on what should have been a surefire hit worse than on Boston Public ? Horrible job. That blonde teacher (not Jeri Ryan) was smoking hot though.

And Boston Legal, much as usually like David Kelley's stuff, is a waste of time. Shatner is a bloated joke, and has been for years. Fuck Denny Crane. Fuck Denny Crane up his stupid ass. That's what I want, a lawyer named after the place where I get my Grand Slams for 2.99 are-ya-outta-yer-mind? Bring back Ally McBeal! Hell, bring back Picket Fences! And given how many times Dr. Reed gets her booty call on, ya gotta figger it's her what's got the bun in the oven (I can already hear Dr. Cox, John C. "God" McGinley, saying, "WAY TO GO, SUPERGIRL!"). Scrubs. Tiny powerful fists. Think about it.

Both are funny shows, in my opinion. Spader, Shatner and Bergen are terrific in BL, and Scrubs has the always hilarious Janitor, the Todd and Ted. (The rest of the cast, in my opinion, are only sometimes funny) I think I'd record Scrubs and watch BL.

God I love Tuesday nights. Thank God for DVR's. Scrubs ist just an all around great show, with great writing, Boston Legal started off as a guilty pleasure, but it just gets better, and better and better... And House, well we all love Dr House. Second episode was great tonight. Floating head does seem to get really old, but it was hilarious tonight for some reason. Nice zinger at the end with who we find out is pregs. Shame we have to wait until 2007 to see what happens next. I don't know why NBC gets dogged so much, they have two of the best comedies on t.v. now that Arrested Development is canned...Scrubs and The Office.

by The Wrong Guy
May 17th, 2006
01:13:08 AM
Scrubs, The Office AND Earl are three great sitcoms on NBC. You know why Earl is such a great show? It's taken writers from Arrested Development, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, King of the Hill, Arrested Development, Family Guy, and, er, Yes, Dear. Put those writers into the mix with a cast featuring Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee, and you got a kick-ass comedy for you right there. And Earl is exactly that! And on the topic of Scrubs, Andy Richter Controls the Universe did the fantasy scenes so much better and funnier. Seriously- Scrubs fantasies are hardly ever funny- most of the humour comes from three characters I mentioned earlier- Janitor, Todd, and Ted.

House was brilliant as always. I have to fight the urge to lower myself down and admit that Cuddy has a awesome tushie. DAMN thats one nice arse. Women who are mature, smart, and intellectual are just freaking HOT. Sigh, ok, rant over, Scrubs brilliant as always, and for Boston Legal, always surprising, always makes me laugh, just wish Denny would be dumb outside court, and brilliant in like they started him to be, anyone remember THAT Denny? which bizarro universe do they inhabit? boston public has followed the trajectory of all david e kelley comedies: very funny in the first season, then slowly circles the drain. scrubs, on the other hand, has been consistently funny since day 1. i stopped watching BL once rhona mitra left.
SCRUBS

No comedy currently on air makes me laugh out loud in a half hour so many times as SCRUBS. I realize silly humor isn't for everyone, but no need to dis this show. Different strokes for different folks people. Scrubs is not "tired". It's hit-and-miss from one episode to the next, but it has gotten better with age. To Zeke25:17 I just want to add "incredibly powerful thighs".

Shit, my wife laughed for like ten minutes after that. Scrubs isn't what it used to be, but still one of the funniest shows on tv along with earl and the office. Glad scrubs will be back, but it sucks that they're fucking it over again. I'm sure the cast and writers are pissed, and I think it's probably hurting the show. Seriously, how much can they put into it when they don't even know if the shows will make it on the air? Nice fakeout with the Jordan thing, then a second pregnancy. It will be an interesting final season.

Surely you jest...and don't call me Shirley. Considering the sly STAR TREK in-jokes worked in over this past season (Denny's cell phone with a TREK communicator sound effect, etc.), I'm surprised no one took advantage of the pairing of The Shat and Jeri Ryan. And while Rhona Mitra is sorely missed, Julie Bowen has been pretty easy on the eyes this season. Is her character being written off now that she's not able to make partner?

"They'll never say ribs." "Get out of here you creapy old queens!" Fantastic. Mmmm, Elizabeth Banks. Second only to Heather Graham in the hot JD girlfriend list. The wedding ring invisibility thing was great. Was this the first real cliffhanger that Scrubs has had? I don't remember one before this. Damn NBC for making us wait for resolution! Let's hope 60 Sunset crashes and burns fast so Scrubs will return quickly.

Saw who was pregnant a mile off, and I think Elizabeth Banks is kidding, but there was a lot of good stuff in this episode. Since someone mentioned every episode of Scrubs ending like an afterschool special, they've been doing that since the beginning. And I wouldn't touch Boston Legal with a 10 foot pole - anything Kelley touches turns into him standing on his liberal soapbox; everything, down to him getting a bad sandwich at the commissary was Bush's fault.

I agree. We've already seen that Kim likes to bust JD's balls for a laugh. Ten-to-one the very first thing we see to open next season is her cracking up and saying something about how priceless the look on JD's face is...ZOOM,ZOOM,ZOOM! Besides, she married her high school sweetheart, only divorced a year ago (and claims she hasn't had a date since), and made JD wait until she was comfortable enough just to let him kiss her. That doesn't even take into consideration the state of JD's recently crushed gonads, so yes, she's definitely putting him on. Also, to jesuschrist, I'm not satisfied with footage, I want to see the fully completed, feature-length version of DR. ACULA!

Shit, man, that girl's a dead-ringer for Samantha Mathis a decade ago... I thought it WAS Mathis for a brief moment... SCRUBS is one of the two best sitcoms on TV right now (the other being THE OFFICE), and it seems to survive no matter how badly NBC treats it. Will look forward to it resurfacing quickly when NBC's new shitcoms misfire and tank. That network hasn't done much right in the last decade -- by the programs or the audience.

so I can't diss Scruffs since I never saw it. I never miss Boston Legal, though, and sure wouldn't start because someone knows the writer. An episode with Kirk, Odo and 7-of-9? Shatner telling Jeri Ryan "your fifteen minutes are almost up, mine have lasted a lifetime." Candy agreeing to kiss bill becuse "It's a sweeps week!" TV characters actually praying that they won't have their time slot changed next season. This show just keeps getting better (though I also miss Rhona and Lake), Alan Shore is the most perverted hero on TV, and anything anyone says against this show can be trumped with two words: "Anyday ane-cray"!
