I haven't seen SPACED yet, but as a SHAUN OF THE DEAD fan, I'll check out anything Simon Pegg is in. (Yep, even MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III.) As great of an addition this is to BBC America's lineup, it would be nice if they started airing episodes of the original DOCTOR WHO series, especially since most of the PBS stations have stopped airing them. And since Sci Fi passed on classic WHO, you would think BBC America would be a natural choice. You'd THINK that, anyway...

It was a BBC sketch show that aired, I think, between series 1 & series 2 of Spaced. Absolutely Brilliant, Pegg is amazing in it. There's even a sketch with Nick Frost in it! Lege.

Modern music is a big part of this show's charm/vibe. I remember reading an interview with Simon Pegg where he was implying Spaced would never air in the US. Re-obtaining the music rights for the States would cost too much $ and that no one involved with the show was willing to change the music.

The first few episodes were a little uneven, but once they hit their groove this series rocked! The episode with the mock gun fights still leaves me rolling. No sit com has a higher geek pop culture quota.

I'm British and I think that this site is totally over-hyping both Spaced and Dr Who. Sometimes I honestly think that they get special 'good' versions of these shows in the US judging by the praise heaped on them. I gave the new Doctor Who a fair chance when it first aired last year but after watching shows like Buffy, The Shield, Firefly, Sopranos and BSG and then watching Dr Who - the difference in quality is astonishing. And I ain't talking about special effects or sets (although the effects are invariably shit) - I'm talking about story, continuity and characterisation. Judging by the hype a few British shows get on this site some of you yankee-doodles are going to feel raped when you actually tune into things like Spaced & Dr who.

i thought i was the only person (or limey) who hadnt lost it. I guess there all stuck with the addage that british means best. If thats the case then they can have all those last of the summer wine stuff because we sure as hell dont want them. if we had an american rating system, those shows like who, spaced and office wouldnt hold up at all. this world is scary. although not as scary as using manequin people for two episodes, and thinking you've actually produced something of quality.

...you're trying to compare DOCTOR WHO to THE SOPRANOS and BSG. DOCTOR WHO isn't a heavy, broody drama, nor is it supposed to be one. It's a light, family-friendly, sci-fi adventure series that takes itself far less seriously than you and ShoulderDevil apparently do. Just kick back, put on some DOCTOR WHO and have some FUN, for crying out loud. Not everything on TV needs to be week after week after week of getting your collective asses kicked by Cylons.

I was so fucking pissed when Bravo or Trio or whatever network stopped playing it in the U.S. And a fanboy pleasing show is a fanboy pleasing show no matter where in the world you live. I can't believe anyone posting at AICN would think Spaced is overrated. I still have faith in this coming out on DVD in Region 1. Spaced is a fanboys wet dream. Every character on that show is golden. Mark Heap as Brian is comic genius and steals every scene he's in! The episode with Vulva (the transgender) had me on the fucking floor the first time I watched it. Shit, I've been into this show for years, and I'm happy a wider audience will finally get a crack at it and I can stop lending out my DVDs. As for Nick Frost...he was good in Shaun, but he will always be Mike to me...the fucker that got got kicked out of the army for stealing a tank and trying to invade France!! BTW..his new Show, Hyperdrive was pretty funny too..

They all suffer from this british media habit of hyping every new show that comes along. Take Ricky Gervaise, please someone take him...away, far, far far away. to a galaxy perhaps. All the hacks in the uk were shouting genius, genius, oh we love you ricky. it was like everything that came out of his mouth was supposedly so hilarious. The uk media fawned over Shaun of the dead. is this the same shaun of the dead, that reapeated the scene of shauns plan to rescue his mum three times over, wasnt funny the first time. I liked the stuff at the start of the movie, were he is meeting his brain dead fellow employees, to have a team meeting, that was funny. however, the rest of the film just drags, occassionally, there are jolts here and there, but Edgar Wrights decision to drag the film out, ruined the movie for me. the constant backwards and forwards to the pub got tiresome. Simon peggs chracter had no redeeming features whatsoever and by the end, when it quite obvious that they have thrown every missed joke at screen, it was obvious that they kept the largest bulk of money for the end which was the destruction of the pub. Hyperdrive is not that good. Before people read this email and think he has got no sense of humour, one of my favourite shows was absolutely. it was a scottish comedy sketch starring jack docherty, the brilliant and beautiful Morweena Banks amongst other. I also liked the Mary Whitehouse experience, spitting image, favourite sketch is when they turned thathcer into the alien and kennth baker into a slug. Rory Bremner although that show should be a half an hour and mock the week and have i got news for you and the original whose line is it any way, that was a real blow when Harry thompson died last year at 45. But look at what he left behind, Have i got news for you, the ali g show, never mind the buzzcocks, in his absecne Lamarr must have been at home make notes in the way one would load up a gun, 2dtv, keeping up appearances and one foot in the grave. And my guilty pleasure of televsion is ALLo Allo. Some snobs may that was muck but the police man and his mangled french is one funniest things i have ever seen on tv. elo, gurd mooning, I was pissing the door, when I ard two shats. priceless! and yes minister/prime minister. In the uk they say that today is a golden age, if you can like morcombe and wise get 20million viewwers weekly, or some mother do have 'em same amount of viewers or basil fawlty is that not a golden age of tv?

Spaced is one of the funniest pop-culture shows ever made. If you like (or can relate to) Clerks, Star Wars, The Matrix, George Romero, guns, video games, skateboarding, getting stoned, raves, unemployment, art, roomates or comics there is something in Spaced for you. The characters are loveable, the jokes are hilarious, there's no "canned" laughter, it's filmed like a movie and the situations they get in are just classic. Fucking brilliant show. It's sad they only made 2 seasons. I would have loved to watch these characters get into their 30's (and hear Tim's (Simon Pegg) opinion of Episode III).
