This though is a sort of spinoff from the movie. Retelling the story but over a longer period, rather than just continuing from the film. Have any US shows aprat from playmakers done well combining sports and drama?

The movie was alright, but the book has a wealth of material to draw from. A Wire-like expose could be done for TV, but since this is network TV, it won't happen.
