Although it sucks Amy and Dan won't be doing the show anymore, pretty much everyone else will be back. At the very least, the show is bound to have some pretty good momentum left over from the first six seasons to get it through one more.
Forget Next Season

Forget about having an "open mind"... an open mind about WHAT? About Commerce once again kicking Art's ass? Sure, that may be "the way the TV business works" but that doesn't mean we should encourage it. I say the best thing fans of the show can do is to just pretend there is no next season. For a show's whose every word was so inextricably linked to its creators, it is a gross injustice to even presume that things are going to be fine without them at the helm. Hell, if the actors had a CHOICE would they even be signing on for one last year. (And, oh yes, next year WILL be the last... bank on it.) Why can't the money grubbers just go find some other business to gut and loot if there's not enough profit in doing quality TV?

But all this negative "The show is over!" stuff from loyal fans could be bad for the show's chances for a pick up. Just because it gets good ratings, and it was mentioned in press releases doesn't mean it's going to be a lock. Especially if the devoted fans are being so vocal with their displeasure. The CW could decide to pull the plug and cut their losses. And it's not like they never pulled a show off the air without resolving the season finale cliffhanger. Maybe you all should just be positive about the change.
Positive about the change?

I think not. This show deserves so much better. I will watch the last two ASP penned ep's, but it's highly unlikely I'll watch anymore. This show IS ASP, and thus will be a ghost of what is was and should be for next season, if there actually is one. I don't really care either way. Guess we will never get that infamouse last scene Amy wrote a few years ago. Drag.

The female Joss Whedon. She was a co-executive producer on Gilmore Girls in season 4 and, correct me if I'm wrong, she's currently between jobs.
Jane Espenson just signed for two years with Universal.

And "Gilmore" is Warner Bros., so an Espenson Gilmore can't happen next season.
My point was, let's wait and see what happens next...

...season (at least the first couple of episodes) before condemning it. Gilmore Girls may be surprisingly good in season 7, or it may make us retch; but, as fans shouldn't we be willing to give it the benefit of the doubt at least until some concrete evidence arrives?

I would watch the season finale JUST for Sonic Youth (and Yo La Tengo). Of course, I watch the show every week anyway, but still. Can't wait to see how they are included.

Do I really want to watch the finale next week? The Palladinos are going the scorched earth route here. They're making just about every character, including Lorelai, the complete antithesis of what made them so appealing in the past. David Rosenthal has an awful lot of piece pick-upping to do for season 7. Because this one can't end soon enough.
Wow, talk about rushed...

So is it just me, or are they biting off way too much here at the end of the season? The whole sub-story with Luke's sister was finished in one week. The whole pot in field story could have been dragged out over a few weeks (although I think it will make a return once all of the musicians descend next week). And Rory has a photographic memory? Oh, and the whole story with Luke talking about communication with TJ while not doing it himself, and Lorieli losing it, was a little heavy handed. I get the feeling the 'elopement' will be the cliffhanger, along with possibly Rory going to England. Was anyone else confused by Loreili's reaction to the house that Emily was going to give her? Didn't Luke already offer that (the Twigham house), and she refused because she loved her house? How would it make Luke feel if she even accepted it? I expected her to get a little pissed off about it, not break down. Oh, and am I gay for noticing that the house looked like the origin of her dollhouse from a few seasons ago? How to ungay myself? Lots of nice Lauren Graham clevage tonight!
Scrubs?

Also, since there is no Scrubs talkback (for shame Herc!). Has anyone noticed how they seem to be ramping up the Dr. Cox turning into House routine? "I'm dead inside." Great line. Also, JD's still working on his Dr. Acula movie. Finally, does anyone know if Cox has ever called him JD before today? I can't ever recall it before, and it just sounded so wierd.

Darth, I thought Lorelai's reaction to the house...
by ExcaliburFfolkes

...made sense. It was a combination of shock that her parents would do something that nice for her and Luke after trying so hard to break them up, of feeling foolish at having spent weeks thinking Richard and Emily had nothing but devious intentions looking at property in Stars Hollow, and of despair in realizing that the entire life she had been planning with Luke probably would never happen now that April and Anna were in the picture. Lorelai didn't accept the offer for the house, anyway, so I don't think it'll be an issue with Luke. There's a good chance he'll never even know the offer was made. I do totally agree with you on the excess of new story lines and quick resolutions in this episode. The contrast was especially strong given how most of the plots were stretched out wafer thin this past season. There were several epsiodes I can recall this season chocked full of filler where nothing new happened plot-wise until the final two or three minutes. Now all of a sudden it's as if Amy and Dan are trying to stuff each and every one of their remaining ideas into these last couple of episodes since they know its their last chance. Oh, and the season ending cliffhanger will probably be leaving us in suspense over whether or not Lorelai and Christopher sleep together (that's my guess, anyway).
Did I miss something or did they forget to tell us...

...exactly how Sookie and Jackson finally disposed of the garbage bags of pot? We saw Sookie and Jackson carrying the bags across the town square past the gazebo, and then nothing more until Sookie and Jackson were shown safely back at home when Lorelai came calling. Did they forget a scene somewhere? And why go to all that trouble anyway, when Jackson could have far more easily just plowed the entire field under, or buried the bags out there in the field after picking the plants?
