because the actors' contracts are all up, the Loreleis would demand too much money and they want to do films. It seems what the Palladinos wanted was a fat development deal at the CW or with Warners, and they wanted some extra staff. If you notice the show almost never has the same writers, apart from the palladinos, two years in a row, either it is a shitty working environment (could be wither the network's or the Palladino's fault) or they get offers of better money elsewhere.
Just a guess...

...but I would imagine the point is, they were comfortable working with whoever they had arrangements with at the WB and they don't want to start over with the new network. ****** Elsewhere in CW news - and I'm hoping this gets a headline at Ain'tItCool - "Supergirl and the Legion Of Superheroes" will be a saturday morning CW show, so we don't have to worry about Cartoon Network dicking it around on their now you see it, now you don't schedule. Also, "The Batman" has been renewed for another season. And, wait, it still gets better - The Legion and The Batman will be doubled back to back in a one hour block for convenient taping. Well, at least I'm happy about it. *** Also interesting: the DeMattais/Giffen era Justice league was right. Remember those stories where the Martian Manhunter was addicted to Oreo and Hydrox type cookies. Well, recent nutritional research seems to support the theiory that they really ARE addictive. See, you really can learn stuff from comics. *** Lauren Graham's old "Townies" co-star Molly Ringwald will be on next weeks "Medium". Whatever happened to Conchata Ferrall and Jenna Elfman?

After May 9th, there are no more episodes of this show--written by the WOMAN WHO CREATED IT. It's over. Nothing the ROSE (He doesnt get initials as a NiCKNAME!) can do--will ever make it GILMORE GIRLS again. If only some fucking crazy Java Junkies could have a HERC-like realization. When a showrunner leaves, it's nice to see them happy about who they are leaving the show to. Based on the interview, the Pallidino's do not seem happy with this transition. That does not bode well. I guess I am curious as to why the Pallidino's would push to get a 2 year contract, when the actors contracts are all up this year. It almost sounds like ASP might have been making a play to get paid for an extra season, if the actors all bailed and the show got cancelled. --- Their comments about how Luke and Loreili both have alot of baggage and that it wouldn't be interesting or realistic if everything just fell into place is valid, however the introduction of 'Cousin Oliver' April, is too much of a stretch. Something should have been done within the confines of the established show, rather than pulling in something completely out of left field. It also seems like they are either running out of ideas, or recycling them. The April-Luke situation basically mirrors Chris and GiGi. Even Zach and Lane's wacky wedding was in line with Liz and TJ's.

Also if The CW picks up VMars for a 3rd season can they pair it with another show other than Gilmore's Girls? I don't know how anyone thinks this pairing could be great (Aside from the fact that Gilmore get's good ratings?) To me the shows are very different and have no audience cross over appeal. I can see Veronica after a show like Smallville (Where the audience is probably similar), but not after Gilmore.

This show ended for me last week with the news of the Pallidinos' departure. I ain't even gonna watch the season finale. Sounds like a crappy cliffhanger which WONT be resolved by ASP (who wrote it) GG and me, we're done. Did anyone else notice that Target has ALL the DVD seasons on sale for $22? Talk about cutting losses. Guess they better make some money before everyone abandons this show.
Cutting loses? More liking making a mint.

You understand that the sale a target has a lot more to do WBHV cashing in yet again on a sale that has benefitted them for the last two years. VM has finally gone on sale for 22 bucks. Which, finally after having a hard time finding it used ANYWHERE, means that I will purchase season one of this show. These sales make money for Target and the WB. Mint, baby. MINT.--------------------Nader , my problem with you and other's SCOPE OF PROBABILITY--it's too limited. If you could not see Luke having a LLD. That's you. It's not ASP or DP. They saw it as plausible. Not like Luke's backstory does not have a lot of holes in which to make this plausible. The total lack of some fans to let go of their own hang ups, and go with the story. Will always stick with me in the future--in relation of this season of Gilmore Girls. It's like Buffy season six ALL FUCKING OVER AGAIN! Chorley--I find them to be a bunch of myopic WRONG assholes, but I can deal with cunts as well.
Dumb move by CW to let ASP & DP go.

Basically, this was all over the issue of 2 year extention vs 1 year extention, and WB/CW doesn't see the wisdom in signing the Palladino's to a two year extention, when the contracts of everyone else on the show expires in one year. So what would have been the worst case scenario if you sign the producers up for two years and the show ends in one? Well you could assign two of the best TV writers to write episodes for other series, or develop pilots for new CW series. *** Ironically, I'd say the chances of Veronica Mars getting a year 3 are better now. Rob Thomas has proven that he can keep the budget low and the quality high, which has to be a CW priority. *** On a commentary track for BG Ronald Moore said the slogan in Hollywood is "Fast, Cheap, Good, pick two" and it sounds like Gilmore Girls isn't doing so hot on the first two.

And maybe ASP and Dan can read the handwriting on the wall that a Dawn Ostroff-led CW will lead to multiple cancellations and pre-emptions of ex-WB series that never had that problem since the majority of CW stations will now be former UPN affiliates. Maybe this was a roundabout vote of no-confidence for a woman who foisted the worst scripted series of the decade, South Beach on an unsuspecting populace.

Man, I could see that blowup coming a mile away. EVERYTHING Luke was afraid of happening did. He knew if he pushed too hard, something would happen. April's mom had been a little quiet lately, but there was no doubt I could see that coming. Of course I was more surprised all of the other girls parents OK'd the overnight too. That was a bit rediculous. Now the stage is set for 'choose the fiance or the kid'. Man, I gotta admit though, the B-story with Rory at the hospital was really well done. Once again, to lower my gayness, I really wish Loreili and Anna Nardini would have just kissed and made up.

That was one of the best episodes in the history of the show. Every character in the episode had a great moment. LoVe ("Our story is Epic" FUCK YEAH!). Kendall being a bitch from hell. Mac doing her comedic relief sweet hottie thing. Dick being...well, a dick. Most of all, Woody Goodman finally showing his true colors in the finest traditon of the pulp detective story. And only two more episodes to go. To hell with everything else, THIS is the best show currently on TV. THIS is the show that should be getting the "Lost"-sized ratings and attention. Instead, it lags at the bottom of the heap, barely hanging on to life. Is this right? Is this just? In the meantime, Herc, who ostensibly is the champion of neglected gems like Veronica Mars wastes bandwidth on the fact that the bored and disgusted creative team of a mildly amusing WB show that passed its prime two seasons ago is bailing out. What the hell is up with that? As you can tell by the way this talkback has been hijacked, NOONE cares about Gilmore Girls anymore. It is running on fumes. VM needs the exposure. Do your duty, Herc! I expect you to do better next week. As for the network monkeys, they had better renew VM for a new season. Otherwise, I can not be held responsible for my subsequent violent acts. Rant over.

I wish every interview about the unfortunate demise of an important creative relationship of a series could provide as much insight. It's the closest thing to closure anyone's going to get about this ordeal. On top of that it's a fun read which confirmed my suspicion that Amy Sherman-Palladino is Lorelai. And knowing that is great, but then again it also makes her (and Daniel's) loss from the show all the more gut-wrenching.

Is that every other time there has been a rift between Logan and Veronica it has been over a misunderstanding, or something minor. This is something that is entirely his fault, which is what worries me, because I want these two to get together more than anything. I suppose Logan could have drunkenly called her and passed out and nothing happened, but they better fucking kiss before the end of the season or I am going to be insane, and I am worried as hell that this event may have ruined things.

When Christopher had that wife of his, and Rory wanted to be friends with her, Lorelai was a colossal bitch about it. Now April's mom doesn't want Luke's girlfriend around her kid [which is basically exactly analagous to the Christopher / Rory / Shelley situation, except even more understandable since the kid is so young] and Lorelai is a bitch about it. I could take over as the writer for this show, because to write Lorelai all you have to do is contrive a situation and then think of the most selfish, petty and hypocritical thing a character could do, and then assign that action to Lorelai. I guess it's a testimony to the strength of the show that I stick with it even though one of the title characters is pretty much always wrong.

at what point did you interpret Lorelai's reaction to Anna's wishes as being "a colossal bitch" about it? Did we watch the same show? Because what I saw was Lorelai (albeit frustrated) totally agreeing with Anna's wishes and accepting that it's up to Anna to decide what's best for her child. Also, you seem to imply that Lorelai went there to confront Anna about being able to see April, but it's obvious (if you don't believe me, rewatch the beginning of the conversation) that her real concern was that her inadvertent trespass not lead to Anna forbidding Luke from seeing his daughter. Considering that Luke's relationship with his daughter has totally steamrolled Lorelai's plans for the future, her effort to ensure that Luke would not be blamed and punished (and therefore be allowed to continue to see his daughter) was actually one of the most selfLESS things Lorelai has ever done. BTW, If anything, Luke was the selfish one for keeping Lorelai and April apart ("she'll like you better"...PLEASE!). Quite a nice twist to see from Anna's blow-up that Luke was actually doing the right thing, even if it was for the wrong reason.

Since this talk-back has already been hijacked, shout-out to VM, a show that just keeps getting better every week. Only a couple (?) episodes left, it's startingto look like we have some obvious bus bomb suspects, but this show proved last season that it knows how to put you off the scent. Even after seeing what a psychopath Aaron Echolls was all last year, I still never had him figured for the Kane murder. And Logan's a punk. Everybody knows V belongs with Wallace.

I think you are both right here. While I don't agree about being a 'bitch', I do see a point there. Shouldn't Loreili have learned to just butt out? Luke's relationship with April is already on a thread, and she shouldn't add anything more to it. She really was just trying to smooth things over between Anna and Luke, but this is a case where she should have just dropped it. Odd thing here to note is that Anna's reaction to Loreili spending time with April is basically the same reaction that Emily had when Chris' new wife showed up to spend time with Rory. Sort of validates Emily's point of view (although she took it to the extreme). This show needs more Twin Peaks actresses!

If all these stories were set up for resolution next season, that great. But since ASP won't be around to do that, I don't give a flying fuck how these stories turn out, because it will be some other jackass who gets to change the vision. Screw this show. I don't believe in nothing anymore. Lost is on tonight, repeat, but who cares, that show is the ultimate tease.
