Sure is fashionable to abandon your TV show. I don't watch the show but is this REALLY as bad as Sorkin leaving the West Wing? He wrote every episode, how many episodes did the showrunners write here? If it is like over 80% then I would understand, either way I suppose it is still bad news.

What. The Fuck. Is going to happen to this show? I'd rather this be the last season; Amy seems to write almost half the episodes, with her husband Daniel (who I would imagine would probably leave with her?) writing almost the other half. The show only has one season to go with the cast's contracts expiring in '07, so WB/CW must seriously not be giving her what she deserves if she doesn't want to see her baby to the end. I can't imagine next season not sucking without her.

...she's slowly but steadily been handing off the writing-chores to other staff members these past three seasons, and you can see it in the credits. Which happens on most "auteur-driven" shows (WEST WING, et al), although certain ones like BABYLON 5 are the exception to this rule. The real question is -- as mentioned above -- Daniel, and what *his* plans are. We'll see.............FLY HIGH, DULUTH!!!

Maybe they've just been petulant this year cuzza their contract woes, but the Sherm/Pal scripted/directed eps have not been anything special this year, in fact I think the ones they did NOT do were much better. That one LAST week, where he directed (and I think she wrote)..the one where her parents were running around town & Lorelei was telling them the town was fulla crackheads, etc. was perhaps THE worst ep of the show I've ever seen. So maybe/hopefully new blood will ennervate the show & make it better. It's clear that the disgruntled/whiny ShermPal team is worse than anything else!!

If Gilmore is no more, then SMALLVILLE will be the biggest draw for the CW!!! Speaking of which, WHERES THE TALKBACK??? Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a Gilmore Girls hater. In fact the few times I've watched it, I enjoyed the hell out of it. It's just, I really need to find out when abc family restarts the run, so I can catch up. I'm not big on dvd's, and too preoccupied to torrent, but dammit, I'm gonna add this to my must watch list along with that Sarah Michelle Gellar show that HERC is sooo fond of. Sorry bout the bad news, but if it is good for SMALLVILLE then I'm happy.

The show had it's moments, but with this announcement, I think it's time to let it expire semi-gracefully. Unless they really make a concerted effort to have a dedicated creative team in there with a real focus for a season(which is highly unlikely, this can probably only end badly, because trying to imitate the writing style of the show for a whole season without any direction just screams disaster. And I do like the show to some extent, though it does seem like virtually every character delivers their lines in roughly the same way, and there's often not enough variance in the scripting of characters. (A complaint you could also attach to Sorkin to some degree) So, if some really creative folks actually sat down and hashed out what the show is about, and who these characters are, rather than trying to imitate it's style all season, it could do just fine. But seriously...what are the odds of that actually happening?

GG's of the season, and it was an AS-P written/directed deal. Talk about running the gamut of emotions. Alias and its actors sticking themselves right back into the thick of the Emmy hunt last night, with so many Moments, like Amy Acker taking out a chopper and looking like TV's sexiest, evil-est badass while doing it (and when the frack is that going to be on YouTube?), and now this. The Palladinos walked away from a guaranteed $5 million payday because of 12 more months, basically. Guess I gotta prep now for a farewell tour for Les Gilmores, who pretty much will end their run in May 2007. *sigh*

I've never seen any other show where the creators wrote so much of it. ASP wanted 7 seasons. She knew how she wanted to end it. Wanting two more seasons is new to me. She wanted to see Rory graduate from college and that's all she seemed to have. Maybe Rory's absence from school for a semester delayed that or maybe ASP has more ideas. Either way, I do hope that the writers who pick up the slack will be able to keep up with the story line and hopefully ASP will work out a deal to come back and end the show how she wants it. I really want to know what those 'two words' are. And I agree about this week. I don't get WB so I downloaded it and watched it on my laptop at work. I actually laughed out loud at the town folk and 62 asians running to the church. Luckily no one was around to hear me, or they might have thought I was crazy.

Kryptonese. Jor-El's back, baby! Doesn't look like we're going to see much Milton Fine until the finale. What disappointed me about this past season opener is that they got rid of the Zod people so quickly - they could have milked it for at least another episode - and it looks like they'll do it again with Brainiac... Oh well, still a great episode today. John Glover is the fucking man.

11:25:14 PM
The real reason Amy left the show is because she objected to the network's demand for mother daughter incest. But when you have women as hot as Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel and a new network to launch you need a 7th season plot that will really generate much buzz! So the network executives decided to finally go for it. They realize Gilmore Girls will have to air at 11 pm instead of 8 pm but they think this switch will be worth it. Howard Stern has already agreed to hype the show every day for two hours on Sirius. So you can be sure ratings will be great. Nielsen predictive models show that Lesbian Gilmore Girls will easily defeat both Leno and Letterman. The next season of Gilmore Girls will be nonstop mother-daughter lesbian lovin! With Sookie joining in for the incestuous fun! It's the only thing missing and they made fun of this possibility on Family Guy with Alexis and Lauren talking really fast then making out! Bring it on! Stars Hollow will soon be the lesbian incest capital of the world!

ASP said as she left the WB lot for the last time. Since no one, outside of LUCAS, has had to deal with more BITCH ASS FANS. Seriously, this woman has had to do interview after interview to try an explain this storyline, but the fans are either too caught up in Luke and Lorelai's fucking middle or too fucking oblivious. I think oblivious. Look at Plum's post. How can you not figure out why Lane and Zack would get married? They lived together for 2 years. He had no problem with her no-sex edict, but he self-destructed. PEOPLE FUCK UP. If you think of these characters as the FLAWED PEOPLE they are written as, then this will make all sorts of sense to you. However, if you treat them, as if they are all a bunch of good guys or bad guys. Then you miss the fucking point entirely. I will miss ASP and DP, but it's a great FUCK YOU to all of her distractors. Have fun watching a season, that's not really a season of Gilmore Girls. That's what you get for being a bunch of fucking dicks.

to freshen up the direction of the show a bit. For instance, I think the new creative team should start off next season with a season-long arc where Rory meets some shady guy (played by me) who gets her hooked on heroin. By episode 3, she's lost 20 pounds and is spending most of the show on her knees servicing the shady guy (ie, me) in exchange for drugs. We break into grandma's mansion, loot the place and move to Vegas to live like porn stars. Lorelai tracks us down and tries to save her daughter, but we end up getting her hooked on the smack and by the last episode, the shady guy (again, me) is lacing the smack with viagra and pulling a mother-daughter train all around town. Now THAT would get ratings.
Well, let's not overlook the good news in this...

GG & Smallville...Time To Go

08:57:35 AM
Creators leaving? Characters getting married? Tribute to SAW?????? Like ALIAS, These two have had their run and are now just dragging themselves to the TV graveyard. Let 'em go now before even crappier story lines ruin their reputation. Unless.... what if the GGs moved to Smallville and gained super powers from leftover meteor rocks, and Clark, Lex, & co. took their act to Stars Hollow and could only battle it out with snappy wisecracks and cultural references. Now, that's thinking like a network VP! (Make one helluva April Fool's special tho' woodenit?)
I'm torn on how to react to this...
by Darth_Nader
Apr 21st, 2006
10:02:48 AM
My first reaction is one of disappointment, however I have to admit this last season has lost it's focus. It seems that the main goals of the show were to get Rory into college, and Luke & Loreili to get together. Now that both of those have happened, things have sort of drifted. Prehaps a shakeup of the show runner will force things to focus on a goal again. There is almost no way L&L could get married, as what would happen next? Endless bickering between Luke, Loreili, and her parents? Also, what's going to happen when Rory graduates? Luke's kid has been way too forced. Something big needs to happen to shake things up. Maybe this will be a good thing. Oh, and after this week Sebastian Bach and Zach both need to take some acting lessons. Some of their dialog was cringe-worthy this week. Ok, now I have to lower my gayness factor: Paris has one of the best racks on TV.

I think that's the first time I've gotten the "crazed horrible fangirl" accusation. I'll be sure to note it in my extremely angsty LiveJournal. In a pink font. But meanwhile, here's an alternative interpretation of Lane and Zach's relationship- the show has never once indicated to me what Lane sees in him. The fact that they dated was weird, but fine, because people don't always make fantastic dating decisions. But the engagement, coming after Dean's marriage, Rory's escapades last season (they couldn't just say she was taking a year off?), and the lost daughter plot device from hell, was the last straw. Or the straw that jumped the shark, if you will. This show is great at depicting familial relationships and absolutely godawful at romance, and I don't have all the time in the world, so yes, after watching since Season 1, I dropped it. As for ASP- she created a show I aboslutely adored for years, so I tip my hat to her. But most shows lose it eventually, and hers is no exception. I'm just saying I don't see her leaving as a disaster because GG is already well past its prime. This isn't an Aaron Sorkin situtation.

Contracts for all the stars expire next year. Writer Dave Rosenthal is taking over. Hopefully former Buffy writer Rebecca Rand Kirshner will stay on, and I wonder if they can get Jane Espenson back? If they know it will be the last season, they need to finally tie up the loose ends. L&L finally marry, Rory graduates Yale, etc. Meanwhile, ASP and DP need to write romantic comedy films, and eventually a new series.

Hm...let's see. I'm presenting my opinions in what I think is a relatively level-headed fashion, and you're engaging in ad hominem attacks. Who's being wanky again? To reiterate what I see in GG- the family relationships are usually depicted beautifully- the 3 generations of Gilmores, their fights, alliances and realignments are the heart of the show and haven't been stretched too far out of shape even by the nonsense of the last couple of seasons. The relationship between Lane and her mom is a great one, too. But the romances? Pathetic. And since the last two seasons have carried that stupidity about romantic relationships to an epic level, it got to the point where the family stuff wasn't making up for it. And yeah, it's sad when fantastic, imaginative stuff like the last few minutes of "Friday Night's Alright For Fighting" is followed up by the complete stupidity of something like Lorelai actually falling for Logan's "charm". But of course, if I dare to ctiticize instead of swallowing every plot point of GG like it's hallowed, I must be a wanky bitch, right? Must be fun to be a fan in your mode- all reception and no broadcast. It must save a lot of thinking.
