about being first...let's move on. this seems to me to be a non-story. cameron said that he would be getting to work on it this spring, so the fact that there's a sign on the door that says "project 880" means nothing spectacular. it presents us with no new news about Avatar, which, by the way, i am really looking forward to. i enjoyed the 'scriptment' and look forward to seeing what cameron can do with it now. forgive me for not getting excited to see a sheet of paper...unless it's a naked pic of your mom.

This sounds like good news to me! have been without Iron Jim long enough folks, and it's good to hear that the man is now tacckling a proper movie, instead of an IMAX filmed doc about ship wrecks. I read the AVATAR script a few years back, and if Jim can bring his Sci-Fi Epic to the big screen, we're in for something spectacular.

sounds interesting, I hope Cameron is scaling back his tendencies for making third acts that drag on too long. Those endless shots of rose and jack running up and down the watery hallways, T2000 keeps getting blown away and coming back, etc. It doesn't increase excitement, it increases fatique.

here's hoping it is seriously retooled. The concept is cool and pure Cameron, but... the narrative is fairly predictable - some of the action sequences may have read as surprising when he wrote it, but they now have been done a billion times, even by Cameron himself. If he can manage to work in a few unpredictable twists, this could be amazing.

I know everyone's sick of TB bitching about the nose dive this site has taken, but I do have to echo some of those sentiments. Merrick, you're a welcome addition, but back in the old days, the AICN boys would suck off three "insiders" in a row to get some real information. And swallow. Without a drop hitting the ground. That yielded real scoopage. So to speak.

Excuse me? OK nevermind that since those don't exist that we know of, they cannot be accurately depicted... Does that mean no throwing oneself to the side to represent torpedoes to the portside bow? Because, frankly, the lack of that (and Romulan babes and gladiatoral battles for their good lovin') is why Star Trek sucks nowadays.

"IMDB says it's 'A love story set against interplanetary war' which means that the line between Hayden Christiansen and Leonardo DiCaprio is about to be blurred, and that someone may well claim to feel like 'king of the universe.'"

Did you all read the same Avatar treatment that I did? The one I read was terrible. There'd be huge action setpieces, huge amounts of CGI (considering the world and creatures are described specifically as being completely different to Earth) and that's about it. And did I mention hackneyed? If you didn't pick the ending as soon as the relevant characters were introduced then you're a fool.
