And can anyone tell me about I Am Legend? I just read it - and it seemed pretty unfilmable.

If they could do it for 28 Days Later and Resident Evil, not to mention The Omega Man, they can easily drag out Kurt Russell or whoever and do it again.
this movie should be called:

Then it might turn into a great sleeper hit or fade into obscurity. Honestly, we don't need more excitement unless you like your films over-hyped & full of expectations

Either watch The Omega Man or wait for the new hollywood blockbuster starring Will Smith

Thanks. I'll have to see the Omega Man, and The Quiet Earth (NZ film with the late, great Bruno Lawrence) as well probably. Will Smith is still attached - so, what stage of production is it in? Last I heard this was going to star him - and that means another "I Robot" as far as I figure it. Which means that the comic will be heavily 'adapted'. I imagine Will barricading himself in to the house with some new Converse sneakers and driving out in the latest Audi. So yeah, sorry I didn't make myself clearer earlier with the 'unfilmable' thing. And apologies for hijacking the 300 talkback. And apologies to Beedub.
I Am Legend, Gates of Fire, etc.

I Am Legend could totally make a great film if its done right (meaning not that overhyped Protosevich script everyone busts a nut over). As for Gates of Fire, I read it years ago and its an excellent book. Always saw Brad Pitt in the lead but I think thats kind of played out now after he did Troy. I still wonder what happened to the Michael Mann version too - maybe AICN could give us an update on this instead of some of the lameass stories that get posted.

I didn't read the book so I can't say much about either as an adaptation, but I think 'The Last Man on Earth' with Vincent Price was at least a better movie than Omega Man. The latter suffered from too many 70s movie cliches.

They stand out, make him original, quirky, and 180 degrees different from every other reviewer on this site. He's original. So the people telling him to stop it; go fuck yourself. If you can't handle weird, don't get uncomfortable and tell him "stop it!" like a little child. Keep up the good work Merrick... we never can know what your next opening statement will be!

...in every 300 report yet to come, the 'I enjoyed Dawn o/t Dead and am really looking forward to 300' remark should be omitted. Because every AICN-employee-guy has said it by now and it's getting annoying. Also: there's a 300 journal on costuming? They're almost butt-naked waring capes! There's your journal Sherlock! I just wanna see dismemberments and impalements in a semi-homo-erotic way. Give me a journal on that, jackass.

if we got the same stumbling zombies then I would of stayed at home & put my DotD DVD in, as it is I was happy with what we got from Mr. Snyder & I think he deserves to have a clean slate for his first ORIGINAL film...if it sucks then yeah, he wouldn't deserve to helm Watchmen but we'll have to wait & see.

I am Legend? I haven't ever read the book although I should. Maybe that first guy is right, and maybe they just keep screwing the story up over the years. Anyone else read it? In any case that Vincent Price movie is the shit and you should all see it. The Last Man on Earth, yeah thats it and its def based on I Am Legend. Great flick

and to lesser effect.Check out Zombie 4 After Death for a good example of lameness. Zack Snyder did a great job on the DOTD re-make. But don't worry because there are no zombies in the 300 comic book. If they put as much effort into the rest of this flick as they have on the costumes it will rock.

I prefer the shamblers, the sense that no matter where you go or how fast you travel you can't escape. Zombies don't need to jump down from the ceiling to be scary, the idea that the world has ended and the dead outnumber the living is the frightening part. I felt the DOTD re-make half-tackled the idea but gave in to some wham bam quick-fix horror nonsense. Not terrible but kinda missing the point, in my eyes at least.

"the next kick ass comic that should be a movie is...TRANSMETROPOLITAN! who's with me?" its a giant pile of money waiting to be made for the right studio. BUT the protagonist does drugs through his eyeball and shit so...maybe we need to wait to get that Bush dude out of the White House first.
Fun Loving 300 Gayness.........

This whole debate over running vs staggering zombies seems a bit silly, I mean it isn't really that far of a leap to go from believing in the living dead... to running zombies????? But I digress.... I'm really here to talk about the spartans..... and how the spartans in the 300 aren't gay looking enough... A movie about real spartans would make Broke Back Mountain look like a straight night at the park...The ancient spartans had long hair which they combed obsessively before a battle, and were encouraged to have homosexual relationships with their fellow spartans because they felt that you'd fight harder to protect your lover than just your bunk buddy... For crying out loud, the first time a spartan was ever with a woman... first she would have to dress up as a guy, then the spartan husband would have to sneak in and kidnap her...then go do their business.. pretending she was still a guy... Oh and by the way, The spartans were not interested in democracy in any way shape or form, they had a heirarchical system with the full spartan at the top of the social ladder... they were the only ones that mattered... everyone one else existed to support those at the top. The only thing they helped influence has been the western military. The idea of discipline, unit cohesion and espirt de corps has been the foundation of the western military since classical times... They were also incredibly stubborn militarily and could not fully appreciate that warefare is an ever changing landscape... They were still fighting the same way they did at the hot gates a century and a half later when the thebans under pelopodas handed them there asses luctera.

It will never, ever, ever be done. Probably just as well. Watchmen could potentially be a good movie, but Transmetropolitan is just too much. Too long, too intense, too *good* to ever make it on the big screen. They'll sooner make a good Sandman movie than this. And don't get me started on that one.

Okay, sure, what the Hell. I don't really love the comic but I love the idea of the comic, sort of a latter day Howard the Duck (Not the Lucas version, people). ....By the way on a completely random note, you all should check out "Suspiria" if you have not. It's a movie whose star attraction is... Wallpaper. Wallpaper can do a lot more for a movie than you might ever imagine. I kid you not. Transmetropolitan with great wallpaper and a hard-R rating, would be unbeatable.
