... the shoe-horned in Lana Lang sequence will be contractually obliged to Kristen Kreuk, and it will suck as usual. Seriously... that poor girl. She's stuck playing a character they can't do a Zod-damn thing with and she has to go along with it. She's like Katie Holmes and that awful pregnancy contract she signed with the Couch Jumper.

Yeah the first episode was a little confused and clunky. Why the fuck do all these show get ignored? I mean at least do a talkback for the first episode for fucks sake. oh and Sworn the show is only gonna be 6 episodes so if you go to 3 you may as well watch the back half too.

1. Reveal "Jor-el" is Zod. 2. Have Clark kick his Kryptonian ass. 3. Clark is someone blamed for the death of Lionel which also takes out Chloe. 4. Lex swears eternal hatred against CK. 5. CK gets a job at Planet, comes up with action suit and secret identity - last shot, a flourish of red cape and yellow shield on back as he says goodbye to Ma and Smallville, red streak and WHOOSH!

The season is over? DAMN IT! Sorry. I could not resist. If this is the last season of Smallville, then Leslie Moonves really has his head farther up his ass then originally thought. Nice to have Marsters return. Lex and Brainiac teaming up always a good time for the show, but a bad time for Clark. RUN KENT! RUN!

It makes sense. Especially since Stamp is voicing Jor-El. This show lost its way a while back. What was once a must-see hour has become a disappointment. I don't disparage anyone for enjoying it, but for this Supes fan, I have to hitch my wagon and hopes to the new movie (which is not too encouraging either).

No one is talking about the actually show and yet no one is bitching about another show (which always happens in the 24 & Lost talk backs). This talk back has entered the phantom zone. Smallville lost me with most of it's fan boy audience (meaning this site) a while back and I believe the only reason it gets a talkback is because of Herc's man love for James Marsters. You need help man. Buffy is gone Herc. James isn't really Spike. He isn't even English. He's a surfer dude from Cali.

I thought it was kept on the air because of some sadistic programming exec falsifying Neilsen ratings. God, this show sucks. If it had one convincing moment or even something that vaguely smacked of the sense of wonder you get watching the movies, it might be good. Alas, they cast cyborg Tom Welling as the lead and he's only programmed for three expressions.

I've always wondered about the number of car crashes in Smallville. I think throughout the span of the four and a half series everybody has crashed their car like four times each. Their premiums must be astronomical.

I got into Smallville late. A friend of mind loaned me the first four seasons on DVD, and watching them back to back to back it was easy to excuse bad episodes for the overall unfolding story of the season. Now, maybe it's just watching these one week at a time, but this is probably the worst season. The pace for anything to happen is killing me. And they should have killed off Lana instead of Clark's dad. She's run her course, and killing off Jonathan was too easy.

Didn't quite watch it all back to back, but caught enough - good show. I thought Lex was incredible, CK was okay, Lana was hot and I hated Chloe. Now? Lex is still awesome, CK-whatever, Chloe rocks and better end up being the REAL Louis Lane (because the current old-hag pisses me off)and I want Lana to die in the most miserable way possible. In fact... drag it out over a couple of episodes.
The voice of "Jor-El" HAS to be General Zod.
by SpyGuy
Mar 30th, 2006
10:35:29 AM
All the talk from "Jor-El" about Clark fulfulling his "destiny" and taking over the Earth has to be Zod's bullshit. It seems that Brainiac is Zod's tool in the physical world to help manipulate events to free Zod from the Phantom Zone. Otherwise, that means Jor-El is seriously out of character and Brainiac's prior attempt to free Zod and the appearance of Zod's disciples earlier in the season makes no sense. The writers have been laying the clues for a few seasons now, so it's high time for the payoff.

Honestly, I don't know what the writers are thinking in leaving Lana out of the loop. Oooh! So if Clark would have told her she would have died that night his father died. Big whoop. That night's over. Your father's dead. TELL LANA. All this fucking angst shit makes me want to throw my TV out the window. Lana, more than anything else is the downfall of this show. I watch it religiously every week, but it just gets to be too much sometimes. Chloe knows. Ma Kent knows. Pa Kent knew. And now LIONEL FUCKING LUTHOR knows. And you can't tell the girl you're in love with, EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW SHE'LL BE COOL WITH IT?! Bullshit on every front.

If Terence Stamp actually appeared on the show as Zod. I have been buying into this Jor-El/Zod thing from the beginning and I think that is what is going to happen but it would be soooo sweet if dude was actually on the show and his first line as he comes out of the smoke/mist/dramatic effect is "kneel before Zod".... awesome. And to all the haters out there, it's just a show, I am a huge fan of comic book superman, movie superman, whatever, and while the show does dip into Smallville 90210 territory often, the underlying mythology stuff and the nods to the comic fans are enough to keep me on board...

Smallville rocks. Someone finally put a fresh spin on the story of Superman that had been told the same way over and over again for generations. Smallville is original and daring. Sure, not every ep is great, but thats true of any show. Compare the originality of Smallville to Superman Returns: basically a lame sequel to Superman II, and the "actor" isn't playing Superman, he's just doing a Reeve impersonation. Smallville should have been the lead in to a new Superman movie.
Right on, Ol_Jack_Burton!

Yes, it can be cheesy and too much of a teen-romance show at times, but the Superman stuff in it is fun to watch. I can deal with the other stuff in order to see Young Supes. Keep it coming! So, when is Clark going to discover a new power? It's been a while! He still has a few tricks up his sleeve - freezing breath, telescopic vision, full-fledged flight. Am I missing any?

I think they jumped the gun with Superman Returns. Welling would make a perfectly fine Superman. I wish they just waited for the end of the show and roll it into a movie for their finale. It would've been nice. Oh, well. Maybe we'll get a new show called Metropolis after Smallville ends to continue the character.

ever since the first season. Seanny_d you have a point. I thought that episode was lame. It bugged me that Clark told her and then proposed to her without her first getting used to the idea he's an alien. And all this on the very hectic day of his father's election. Obviously a Kryptonian's sense of timing is not enhanced by the yellow sun.

At least I'm not the only one who thought Lana should've stayed dead, and Jonathan alive. Ah well, maybe he'll come back in some would-be magnificent twist that some a-hole at the studio will probably ruin. The show does seem to be wavering, but the chances are, in five or six years I'll be watching the DVDs and I'll probably enjoy it (my brain being completely fried from over-consumption and the complete lack of sex.) By the way, Buffy isn't gone...she's on prolonged hiatus. Give me my delusions, please.

Rumors abound that Terence Stamp will reprise his role as Zod - just as he's about to send Kal-el into the Phantom Zone, a digitally-inserted Ned Beatty will trip over the projector and send Zod, Lois and Lana into the Zone. Red K will make Clark think Chloe is Lois, and Chloe goes along. Everyone has a good laugh except Lex, who keeps beating Otis over the head to "Sorry Mistah Lu-thor, sorry...". A beebahdee th-th-that's all, folks!

Looking like Reeves and "doing a Reeves impression" are two very different things. You're seriously jumping the gun on your judgement of Superman Returns. That is exactly what Smallville has become. They should have killed Lana off...or just told her the secret and have her not be able to deal w/ that or something. But this is beyond just silly. It's straight up fucking ridiculous. And damn it...give us some PLOT...these stand alones w/ "little hints" toward something bigger is seriously a waste of my time. Crap actress also. I swear can't they find someone decent? Lame first half, but it turned around into something not good, not even fair, just not quite as lame. Brainiac stuff, kicked ass as always, but the best moment hands down was Martha with a shotgun (I wished she pulled the trigger. Y'all hate Lana, I hate Lois.) and then Chloe knocking her ass out with the rolling pin. You're right Speedstream, this was a dissapointing episode, not so much for the Lana angle, but for the Simone character, there was really no reason to have her. And after a month or so of waiting for a new episode, we get this instead of a continuation of the Lionel storyline. Next week looks interesting, and yes I'm sure some of you, well, most of you will bitch because its a Lana themed one, but before you do, ask yourself, would you rather it focused on Ms.Botox Lane? Something else that I've noticed lately, is Tom's role has diminished significantly. Not only that, but he has acted strangely in the scenes he is in. Almost like Rob Morrow did during his last few episodes of Northern Exposure. Maybe it really is ending this season, or he realizes that the chances of this moving on to the bigscreen is not likely. Who knows? Also, I may be mistaken because I only saw it once, but was he wearing a hearing aid during the scene when he found Lex shot in his "panic room" during the episode with the crooked cops from earlier this season? Something I'm not mistaken about, the guy doesn't have a "super" physique, and it showed in his "love" scene tonight. Like I said before, with the way Martha cooks, it ain't no wonder. So Smallville didn't own anyone's ass tonight, and Supernatural was merely ok. But neither pissed me off as bad as 24. I expect more from that show, but wow, has it gotten bad as of late.

I'm glad to not be the only one who must continually watch the steaming pile each week that is Smallville (assuming it is on or new, that is) and to continually be disappointed by its narrow-scoped little universe. An appropriate name for this microscopic show: SMALLville. A show that started off with some likable (if strident) characters, pretty actors, some exciting sequences, some affective storylines...but now look at it: just narrow dreck that spins like some annoying broken record, except everyone's 6 years older and none the wiser! (And neither are we!) Each episode is self-contained, the characters seeming to have no awareness of anything that has gone before. And there exists only the slightest thread of what could be called an arc to demonstrate that there might be purpose to any episode in the season. C'mon, Clark, break up with Lana just one more time. Nothing could keep us glued more.

But I have to admit, this was single-handedly the worst episode they've ever had. I've been such a supporter, I've even enjoyed the bullshit episodes, like the prom ep, but come on, WHAT THE FUCK. They could have broken up Lana weeks ago, but they just had to beat this fucking horse. I was expecting this episode to be fucking Brainiac heavy, and he was in maybe 5 minutes of the damn show. This one, @qu@boy, and the vampire episodes were the only real stinkers. And you wanna talk about a GREAT self contained episode? Look no further than the Chloe themed ep from last month. Now that Lana is gonna get with Clark, I think we know where its headed. Lana will die, for real this time, and Lex will blame Clark. Lex couldn't care less if Lionel bites the dust. So all of you Lana haters (I LOVE HER TO DEATH, SUE ME) may get your wish because Steve Correll has said in several interviews that he wants Kreuk to be his Agent 69 in the Get Smart flick. Also, I wouldn't rule out Lionel and Martha getting hitched in some way (for one episode) if it does come back next season.

The only reasons I watch Smallville
by cerebulon
Mar 31st, 2006

Lana is cute...Chloe is cute...Lois is hot...guest chicks are usually hot. That is pretty much it for me. I hate Clark. I hate him with a passion. He is the biggest puss I have EVER witnessed. Whatever his "parents" did to him should be a federal crime. They somehow emasculated the poor boy. I would have though Clark getting some with Lana would make him act like a man for once, but no he's still a giant puss. Furthermore... the forgetting stuff. That is so lame. That is lamer than Trek using the holodeck and time flux storylines over and over again. Who are the writers? How can you make a show where nothing happens for what...5 seasons? If I don't watch a show for a year... and then I sit down to see a new episode...and I can pick up immediately what is going on, then that show really needs help. A good/bad antithesis of Smallville is Farscape. I missed 2 episodes and could no longer follow the plot. Farscape is the opposite of Smallvile. So, we need to get one writer from Smallville, and one from Farscape and put them together - that way the show will move, but at a pace most people can follow. But in the end I really don't care. I watch for the babes, not the storylines. Smallville is sort of like Baywatch for geeks - except the girls need to wear less clothes - or at least spandex.

In fact, after seeing last night's episode it was the first time I've ever thought that the show should just finally END. I mean, how many fucking times can the following occur: Mysterious female comes to Smallville & has the power to make Clark do her bidding; Lana pines for Clark, Clark pines for Lana, Lex also pines for Lana; Clark & Lana avoid "doing the nasty" - even though they're dating; Clark lies to Lana, Lana is hurt/confused/dejected over Clark's lies, Clark breaks up w/Lana, Lana breaks up w/Clark; Lex sees Clark's powers in action but it is conveniently forgotten/ignored/explained away,...AND ON, AND ON, AND ON!!! Well I guess all those other 'clients' that Simone's father helped get over their addictions and cancer with the necklace are now screwed. You would have thought that someone as resourceful as Lex would have figured out (what took Chloe 5 minutes) that the necklace was the source of her power and stole it (unless I missed a 'it can only be used by members of the family' sub-plot). Glad to also see that Chloe quickly got over her remorse about shooting and killing someone, actually, I don't think she had any remorse. I agree with all the other talk-back's that the whole Clark/Lana story has gone well past its welcome. I like the actress who plays Lana and wish her a great future, and feel that she would be perfect in Get Smart. I hope the producers allow her to grow in a new direction as evil Lana with Lex (is this part of Superman lore at any point?). For the viewers, it was always a no win situation because we always new that she was a stand in until the real Lois relationship (and new round of hiding the truth etc etc) begins. I also agree with the other point made here, regarding the new movie - the TV show really will need to pick up the flak as the audience will no long have to expect this as their only dosage of live Superman.

by definition. I'm hoping that we finally see Lana and Lex teaming up. Sure the show's inconsistent, but there's enough interesting and emotional stuff to make up for it otherwise. When focused on the Kent or Luthor families, or the Kryptonian stuff, it's pretty cool. But the freak of the week stuff has always been lame. So far, Spike-iac is the only villian outside of the Luthors that's been even half way interesting. Rutger Hauer's character was cool for five minutes, but that's it. The Lana pouty stuff is always lame too. Now I do like this Lois as her own character, and the banter between her and Clark, but I don't see her yet as someone Superman would fall in love with. She's just not that deep. Then again, neither is he.
This episode was fucking bad

These motherfuckers get hypnotized every fucking week. Clark has all these powers for no fucking reason. Also judging from last nite's ep, Spike's finally looking kinda old. Weird.
I lost count, how many people have Chloe shot by now?

I'm pretty sure that in Kansas it's only a misdemeanor to shoot and kill someone...Its even encouraged if that person happens to be teaching evolution in public schools...
That's one of the few things that could help the show

Chloe going around shooting people, without any sign of regret. I know, that's what she's doing now, but even more. And in her panties. Yeah. That would work.

this is so fucking stupid...they have that big huge episode where Lana dies...clark hits the cosmic reset button....only to break up with her only a few episodes later? how wasteful. That episode could have been pretty decent had they the balls to REALLY kill her off..but no..they wussed out, now Lana is even more pointless to the show than she already was. Instead of going out with a bang, she's slowly fading away.
How's it all gonna end?

I'm fairly new to this show (caught season 4's finale after getting hooked on the tail-end of the s.3 DVD, it was too late by then for s.4) and am now so confused I had to register here to hopefully get an answer: how the hell is this show going to end? Doesn't everyone in Kansas know who Clark is? He's in college; he saves everyone's ass on a weekly basis under the strangest circumstances; Lex knows him... Lois? They brought Lois to Smallville? That's supposed to be Lois? I'll admit to not following the comics and only seeing the first 2 movies, but Christ-on-a-cracker, what the fuck were they thinking? I'll assume they had an arc in mind, but damn it... I guess it's not really the writers' problem since the show isn't about Superman, but there's almost no way for it to continue, even if they could. I don't get the Fortress. I was under the impression that after introducing the Fortress, this would pretty much be the final season. Isn't he Superman after that? He hardly even visits. Anyone care to enlighten me?
You Lana haters just don't get it do ya?

She's not useless, she's what will make Lex hate Clark.

Where Lex is always pouring single malt, people drive four hours to have a one minute conversation, and Clark gives up his secret more than Burton's Batman... I love the show, but I still don't get Clark's hesitation about confiding in Lana THE WOMAN HE LOVES. I mean, we can have coy hints from Martha that he is destined for someone else, but who acts that way? If anyone who knew Clark's secret was in danger, then what about his parents, Pete and Chloe? Chloe has shown herself to be an ally - especially in last night's dreck-fest - Chloe and Brainy were the only cool things on board... So if Chloe can deal, can live her life and still carry the knowledge and help Clark, why not Lana? And I guess there must be some giant ZOD-sized reset button of amnesia, because otherwise everyone in Smallville (and soon Metropolis, Gotham, etc) will be saying "Superman? Get out of town, we'll just call you 'Clark' - should have tried them glasses in high school, smart guy..." One other thing - everyone has their preferences - I'm a Chloe-man mahself, but I think Erica Durance gets a bad rap as Lois - she's supposed to be irritating - at first - and she will never be a docile little flower - face it, only a beautiful and outspoken wildcat could satisfy a man of steel... NOTE to producers of Smallville - I look forward to "fresh" (Jebus I hate that term) episodes each week - last night's was the first time I kept looking at my watch... Any show with Superman - even the pre-action suit Superman - should not be BORING!

Tom Welling's directing an upcoming episode, so if it seems his screen-time has diminished, it's most likely because he's prepping for that episode. When John Schnieder directed an episode in S3, he ended up taking the episode before it off so he could prepare. Anyways, I agree that this episode was pretty sucky. It did have some good moments though, especially between Brainiac/Lex and Chloe/Clark. And the final scene between Clark and Martha was really good too. And you don't have to be a Lana-hater to see that she's grown more and more useless on this show. Lex has ample reason to hate Clark, what with the lies he's told and the secrets he's kept, especially in regards to things that personally affected Lex. I get that they want to keep Kristin Kreuk around, but this Lex/Lana stuff is nothing but a shoehorn.
But shes soooooo purdy!

Oh, and at what point did Kristin get the notion to lose the Joey Lauren Adams-like voice from the first season? God that was adorable. I will say, she needs to eat a bit more. She skinny.

Looks like next week Lana's gettin' all hopped up on some good stuff. She's seeing her parents and trippin' out. It's a very special episode of Smallville, so gather your family together to learn about the dangers of black tar kryptonite.

As a lycanthrope I do admire good canines, but jumpin' jiminy Christmas, Kristin Kreuk sports some vampy fangage, to put it in Buffy parlance... I for one am glad she and CK have broken up - bring on Dark Lana and all... Of course, next week she's in trouble and who is she begging for help? Lex? No no no - Clark - oy!

That way Sappy Clark can get on with his life & stop pineing away for this monkey faced chick. Chloe is more deserving of his love anyway. This weeks episode was pretty good but it does get very old going through Clark & Lana breaking up & getting back together every other week.

I said the episode was pretty good. Didn't say it was the greatest thing ever or anything. We got to see a nice thonged ass & the greatest moment in ALL of Smallville history when Chloe knocked out Martha Kent with a rolling pin. Almost fell out of my chair laughing. As for Monkey Face, you can have her just so long as Chloe stops by my house to investigate what lurks inside my jeans. :)

For a long time now she's been relegated to minor plot points...yeah the snarkiness between her and Clark was neat, but shes a nothing character. Its so frustrating to see this show take a different direction in the beginning, what with clark and lex being friends It was awesome..but now the show has just degenerated into what elements from comic book they can 'port' into the show..Aquaman, Cyborg, Braniac and everyone has been clamoring for a smallville version of Batman for a long while now so it all tracks. Fuck the comic books..fuck canon, If I wanted comic book canon, I'll go to a comic store and READ THEM! They need to stop coming up dumb ways to make Smallville versions of the comic book.
Got my smallville fix.. could have been better

the episode was about 2 out 5. The biggest problem is the large rerun break that preceded it. I'm hopeless confused as to where we are in the story! Hadn't Lana and Clark broken up for ever already? Weren't Lex and Lana not talking (no, they made up in that Panic Room clone episode..) I do know from other sources that they're setting up the true end of Clark&Lana so I tent to actually believe Cark this time and believe that it is really the end of these two. Also Lana was clearly much darker this week in clothes and style. Something is happening. The guest this week was clone of Rebecca Romijn in Femme Fatale, personality, hair and clothes. An obvious rip off of Terminator II with Spike (himself an XFile oil alien clone), right after a clone of Panic Room - Are they hiring hack writers from Charm? Overall the show is still fun to watch but clearly after a break like this we deserve a strong episode. The entire season is not weak, however, there is a lot of movement -- just a lot of rerun breaks, too. Btw, I love being able watch these in HD. Let's hope to god that Chloe comes to the forefront and Clark stops whining and takes charge. btw, please continue the Smallville talkbacks, they are interesting.
