I had this black moment where I thought, "Fuck it! Jackie's been wacked!!!" But then it occurred to me, come on Jackie will never die: even when he jumped off the second storey of a building and landed on his head he still made it. So the little part-time Jockey geezer from Police Story and Rumble in the Bronx is the one to go...and all us AICNers can do about it is squabble over their First and Secondness. You sicken me. (Third!!!!!?)
Is this AICN or the Obituary Page?

Seriously, people die and it's sad and shit...but can we talk about upcoming films? Isn't that what this site is supposed to be about?
RIP. But a lot of heartless assholes on this talkback.

Yes, this site is about film and all things 'geek', and I think that is why it's important to acknowledge the talents of those who have been involved in these areas of endevour and entertainment when they pass. I can't say I enjoy hearing about the latest person carried off by Death, but it is a great way to bid farwell, with others here, to the talent and enjoyment these people have brought to us. Besides, I feel it's often like an informal Memorial that we can all as a group contribute to. I have also often learned a lot more about the person who has passed on, even if I knew a lot of their work, there are almost always lil tidbits of information regarding thier work I haven't seen or didn't know about, which then gives me a chance to rediscover or have a better apprecition of the their talent. The sadest part of this is that these obits are starting to come too fast these days. We are loosing a whole generation of real talent that has defined what what we presently enjoy today. That said, rest well 'Uncle Bill', I'll be watching a Jackie Chan movie with you in this evening.

I always looked forward to Bill Tung (as he was known over here in the US translations) and his presence in the Jackie Chan movies. From "Police Story" part 1 to "Police Story IV: First Strike", he has always made me laugh. He will be missed; I'm sorry to see him go.
Celebrity deaths don't come in threes.

I would like to hear your theories. Just curious. As for UFO's and WMD's, they're not even in the same ballpark. Speaking of UFO's, if the entire city of Phoenix, Arizona and surrounding areas saw a triangular shaped craft that couldn't be identified(Those were military flares...riiiiiight.) I guess people see what they want to be believe or are told to believe, young Winston Smith.
well, the human mind sees patterns and tries to explain

irrationality. this would actually be the fourth celebrity to die in as many days, but it doesn't coincide with your preconceived theory of '3'. the Godfather/Sopranos actor that died the other day didn't seem to fit into the scheme of things, eh? jesus christ, why am i talking to people that believe celebrities die in groups of 3? my condolences.
Well, how do you define Celebrity?

And how close together do the deaths have to be in order for the three rule to apply? Richard Bright, Don Knotts, Daren McGavin and Tung Piu have all been in the last few weeks; but that's four. Plus, there have probably been others.

But its beyond mere human perception concerning the occurence of random phenomena. If memory serves, there have been more than a few experiments in physics that have proven a certain amount of orderlyness to irregular events. Believe it or not, the old saying actually has a grain of truth: trouble sires three children. Bad things and good things happen in groups. Now, for four hundred, Alex, what was the scientific term used to describe this principle?
Probability Theory?

There's the natural that can be explained and the supernatural that cannot. I for one am a believer in both. The human brain is the most incredible machine made and yet, it can't figure itself out. For the realists who don't believe in random chance or the supernatural(And I don't mean witches, ghosts and goblins.) that's cool. That's your opinion. As for the ones who think there's more than meets the eye, I'll take that 100 yard walk over the rim with you.
the natural is explained; supernatural has not yet been

as for moondoggy: first, i don't know how you scientifically determine "good things". and secondly, it would be futile anyway since "good" and "bad" do not exist outside of the human mind that created/perceives them. the same mind that seeks solutions and patterns.

Actually, I wasnt meaning that science literally says good things and bad things happen together. I was trying to say that random phenomena do in fact group. I was simply trying to explain the jargon in everyday terms. I'm sorry if I was unclear. If you still dont get what I'm saying, you can try a little experiment. Flip a coin about a hundred times. Now, most people think a coin will land heads, tails, heads, tails, etc. Or, at the very least, land on heads a couple of times in a row, than tails landing a couple of times in a row, etc. In fact, what happens is except for small variations of heads/tails, the coin will land on heads for long periods of times, and tails will land for long periods as well, generally 4 to 6 times. Why do these phenomena group appear in groups? Now, tossing a coin is a rather simplistic experiment, and I can assure you there have been much more complicated tests, but it does "kinda/sorta" show that phenomena (in this case random acts) often occur in groups. I hope that helps--I'm pooped out already;)
Boy I write horribly in these talkbacks.

Here we are discussing the meaning of life and probability. For the first time no one is calling each other names. Leave it to an actor whose characters taught Chinese philosphy. And, you guys forgot about Al Lewis in the three groupings.
