I liked the 40 year old virgin. It reminds me of my brother. Anyway, I'll wait until production is further along, but Hathaway is adorable, so I'm there.

Matthew Perry & Salma Hayek did this one already. And while it was okay, it certainly didn't need a remake/ripoff.

Apatow rocks Freaks and Geeks is one of the greatest TV shows ever made and 40 year old virgin was funny as fuck. This is gonna be cool. Whos playing the main guy?

More CELTIC PRIDE than 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN

Definitely not as great a concept for a dark oddball comedy as VIRGIN or even CABLE GUY. Yes - its all in the execution. But tonally this could present some problems unless Apatow "gimmicks" her character and makes her a lesbian or underage or retarded. Or makes Seth Rogen or whoever is playing the lead married with three kids. OK now don't steal that Apatow!!!

VIRGIN was funny as hell, but god damn, was it overlong - not to even bring up the unrated version, which is longer than many epic adventure-type films. Improv is fine, but let the editor do his job. If he DOES make her a lesbian, this becomes dangerously, tantalizingly close to a comedy version of TIME AND TIDE, not that that's a bad thing, and not that TIME AND TIDE

I'm sorry. I know it's about geeks and all. And, that appeals to a large population of this site. However, it was LAME!! Just a bunch of 2 dimensional cliches running around spouting whack jokes that are supposed to be 'edgey', but in reality, are just playing it safe. The whole movie was just bad. Awful. We rented it. And, nobody could even be bothered to pay attention to it. Boooo!

I agree - this guy is hilarious. Give him more work, you stupid Hollywood beeyatches. Any script that calls for Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell or Jack Black ... be sure to consider this guy. He's got that quality that just makes you start laughing as soon as you see him.

It had funny moment in it, but yeah it felt too long and drawn out. While it had a good story, the use of strong fowl language and crass sex jokes made the movie wear thin. My dad and mom and I, hated the whole sing along ending, that was just pointless and a waste. This will be good if he keeps the "f" word and crass sex jokes to a minimum and sells more of a story than cheap laughs.

thing. but ALL of the descriptions I'm getting of pilots these days are requesting improv (thanks, Larry David!). the idea is to look spontaneous, but it too often comes off as amateurish. out of each hour of improv, 20 minutes is usable and 10 minutes are truly great. and UCB is turd. like Mark Twain said, it takes 2-3 weeks of work to come up with an impromptu speech.

But I loved "40-year-old-Virgin". It reminded me of a raunchy Christopher Guest film, because half of the jokes were just embedded in normal conversation.

Will have to appeal to more than just fanboys to be successful. Casting Hathaway would at least ensure a good portion of her 100 Million Dollar Princess Diaries fan base of young girls will turn out to the theater opening weekend. And if Joss is writing it, that means Wonder Woman will at least crack a couple jokes, and Hathaway is good at comedy. Also she's tall, and pretty, and healthy. Just train her for 4 months. If Keanu can be Neo, Hathaway can do action.

It's really hard to take anyones opinion seriously when they use the word "Whack"... not as in the 60's Batmanesque onomatopoeic sense of the word.. but the more urban "That's whack homey" parlance.

Before she got topless in the gay movie she showed the puppies in a straight to video movie called "Havoc", Richard Roeper really liked it. It was about wiggers, pretty funny stuff. Oh yeah a bunch of Mexicans throw a train on Bijou Phillips in the movie.
Isn't it "Wack"?

I live in the Bronx and people still use it. But then again.... We here in NYC don't stop using words just because mainstream folk say they are uncool. These are usually the same people who start using the words years after we start. How Paris was credited with "That's Hot" a phrase used since the 90's is crazy.

If they decide to go with a non-amazonian-looking, caucasian actress then I reckon Hathaway would be a really good choice. She has the looks, the charm and the acting chops (I think). With some physical-training she'd be perfect. Plus your right about her bringing an audience, all those rabid young girls can't be bad for the B.O. Also, true about the slang co-opting thing. ~ P.S. Hype and Lando: Hahaha! Your killing me with that "Fowl language" stuff.
