They aren't Lorelai and Lorelai II. Their grandmother is Lorelai. Which makes Rory's mom Lorelai II and Rory Lorelai III. Might want to fix that.

It's called sweeps for a reason jackass! The nets come in with new episodes, try to sweep up the ratings and then leave quick. Lost, Gilmore and other shows are leaving after only two weeks for a reason - THE OLYMPICS! The nets don't want to compete against that monster. Really though, get over it. The seasons aren't shorter, they are the same length they've always been, if not longer.

Don't take ComfortGirl's name-calling too hard. For someone who's singing the praises of delayed gratification, why the big bitch over waiting a few weeks for new episodes? One might suggest that the douchebags are the people who are shelling out money for DVD'd of shows that they could have already watched for free. ComfortGirl, is the gratuitous cursing really necessary? Just make your point and be done with it. Of course, I've perused this site enough to know that you can't expect a civilized exchange of opinions here.
It all depends on what shows you are looking at

Buffy ran 22 episodes/season every season except the first. Magnum PI averaged 21.8 episodes/season (not counting its first & last seasons which were 18 & 13). Starsky & Hutch averaged 23 episodes/season (which IS more than 22). MASH averaged 24 episodes/season over its first 10 seasons (#11 had only 15). The older shows do seem to have run 1 or 2 more episodes/season. However, According to Jim has averaged 26 episodes over its first 4 seasons (28 in S2, 29 in S3). So, like I said, it all depends on what show's you are comparing. 22 is more than some, less than others.

It is true that there is a definite stretching of the material to a point where it seems a bit thin. DVD's are great if you have the time and money as well, but 'revolt'? That'll become a very expensive revolt, and that's just silly... And the episode count is also sometimes dependent on the network that the show is on as well as how popular the show is. WB and UPN almost always order 22 episode runs. CBS usually order 23 epps of their crime hour-longs. Fox is always erratic. Simpsons varies from 19 to 23. The sitcoms that are only 22 minutes long (like jim) sometimes get a couple more episodes because they are half as long. The more important point here is why are we even fighting about this. It's just dumb.

Richards mother was the first Lorelai. In Season 1, Episode 18: The Third Lorelai (http://imdb.com/title/tt05882 17/) it is revealed that Richard and Emily named their daughter after Richard's mother, thus making her Lorelai II. When Lorelai II had her child, she also named her Lorelai, thus maker Rory Lorelai III. Last season though, Richard's mother (Lorelai I) passed away. Man, I never thought there would be this much arguing in a Gilmore thread.

Jane hasn't written for the show since 2004's episode The Reigning Lorelai. That was in season 4 in case you were checking. She is now on Jake In Progress since The Inside did the crash & burn.

Promos sort of lead you to believe that maybe Rory got pregnant. So is it going to be VD for Rory instead? Nah... can't be... or you wouldn't be so low as to broadcast it in the headline...

You mistake me for someone who is angry. Why are you persistantly trying to sell me to rent or buy dvd's? For that matter, why are you on this site? This is a site that lives in the here and now. It talks about new episodes that are airing as we speak. If anything, you seem to be wasting your time reading about shows you won't see for nine months. The only thing I had a problem with is with the fact that you are trying to solicit others to join your 'revolt' to buy dvd's and boycott television. Is it really that hard to just hit mute while watching the show's 10-13 minutes of commercials? Try having a conversation with a loved one or make yourself a cup of tea. And during the hiatus periods when there are repeats, watch alternative programming on discovery or some other net (mythbusters is an excellent show that i've just gotten into when Lost is in hiatus). I just don't know why you are trying to stir up all this hostility and start a 'revolt'... Also, I do know about rental, but I prefer to own my dvd's. I didn't like the inconvenience of netflix when I used them (scratched dvd's, availability) and the way I see it, for twice or three times the cost of the rental, you can own. so why not.

For the rest of February sweeps. There's a limit on the # of characters in the subject line so I couldn't include the prior sentence in it. UPN is a fracking mess; they pulled tomorrow's, 2/22 and 3/1 new episodes and will replace it with reruns (Rat Saw God, w/the Joss Whedon cameo tomorrow, Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner next Wednesday and Ahoy Mateys on 3/1). Because South Beach has been so utterly a failure of a lead-in for VM, the show basically is in limbo right now. There are noises VM will be back 3/8, but nothing official. Ask me again why it's a good thing Dawn Ostroff, current boss-lady of UPN will be running The CW? I keep forgetting. :(

EPGuides.com had a listing of season 2 VM episodes and their scheduled airdates. The last episode before their pre-spring hiatus was to be The Rapes of Graff on 3/1. Then they'd go dark until 4/19, returning with an episode called Plan B. UPN's website still has America's Next Top Model for a 2-hour premiere on 3/8, so the earliest VM can come back is 3/15.

And just this sunday I remember seeing adds for the new episode this is some really strange scheduling on UPN's part. If they were legitimitelly thinking of cancelling VMs then wouldn't they put some reality shit on instead of a VM rerun. Are they that afraid of the Olympics what gives? Oh and staying on topic good GG episode. "Massass"

I rarely say that for GG, but I really didn't like this ep. Luke just pissed me off the entire time. he spent the entire episode being a dick, especially to Logan. Then, when he realizes that Logan was going to give Rory a Valentines Day gift, Luke is all like "Hey,I know that I hate you and have bashed you for the better part of this epiosde, but do you rhink I could get one of those pretty bracelets? Please?" I really hated Luke tonight. I keep waiting for Lorelai to just slap Luke upside the head and tell him to chill the fuck out and stop being an ignorant asshole the whole time. Or dump him at least. I can understand that with her track record Lorelai would want to do everything in her power to maintain this realtionship, but come on!
Herc, is it true the WB was about to go under...

...before the merger with UPN was announced? That they were in worse shape than UPN was? One would think with the WB's lineup constantly punking out UPN except on Friday (and that they alone run a Sunday schedule that went to pot in a hurry), that it would be the other way around.

I didn't think Luke could afford jewelry selected by the scion of a wealthy publishing family. The good thing about VM being pulled is that it will run straight thru the end of the season without reruns once it returns.
