i thought Dean Martin was Matt Helm in all the movies. I think Franciosa played Helm in a TV series.
I appreciated Tony's work in the NAPA Auto parts commercials

Yes, he did star the tv series, "Matt Helm." Sometimes in Europe, they would take two shows from an American tv series and relase them theatrically as they did with the "Combat" episodes "Hills Are For Heroes." That's where I saw the "Matt Helm" movie though it was a tv series to begin with. Sorry for the confusion.

Midway through January and the years's already taking its grim toll. Watching "Name of the Game" as a kid, being allowed to stay up late because it was on a Saturday here in the UK, is a fond memory.
S.E.A.R.C.H. was cool.

He got all shot up. "Tay-lor!"
I will also remember him as a great 80's TV figure as Casey

He was great in the show and a cool show ripe for an update - we could call it STALKER PI. Just kidding. It actually could be a cool show nowadays. Also he was great in his guest appearances in MASQUERADE - another show that would make a cool update - and HOTEL.
That was James Franciscus in...

...Finder of Lost Loves? It was an NBC series in 1984. It didn't last long, but Tony was great in it.

Two Things About Tony

1. He was, indeed, briefly married to Shelly Winters -- when he was a thin, sexy young guy and she was older and beefy. Still, they "got it on" she said. And she just died recently. Grief on Tony's part? Reunited in heaven to "get it on" some more? 2. He was his coolest in the 60's, as a TV star with a smooth, smooth voice who occasionally made movies. Try him in the big-screen action Western "Rio Conchos" (1964) with the equally cool Richard Boone. Tony plays a wily Mexican rogue on a a four-man "Mission Impossible" ; somewhat politically incorrect but he is suave and likeable in the role

Best prologue ever. Best soundtrack ever. Best killer reveal ever with the villain hiding in the victim's silhouette, subsequently borrowed by De Palma and much lesser "talents."
Heaven just got a little drunker.

I also get him confused w/James Franciscus... I like the '80s show, Finder Of Lost Loves he was in, although this is the first time I've thought of it in 22 years...

I geeked out on the gadgets, loved the babes, and *all* the agents *reeked* of cool! (But none of the others could beat Tony's smile.) RIP.
