Haunted House Films.

I was just thinking. One of the most famous Haunted House flicks ever made is The Shining. Based on the evidence within his films, the naming of characters, the films being shown at cimemas, etc., Doesn't Jan De Bont think that he is Stanley Kubrick? Maybe this is his chance to really be him.
Remakes...

Well, this sucks. THE HAUNTING with computer graphics. Somebody slap me if I'm outta line here, but wasn't the most terrifying aspect of The Haunting the fact that the audience didn't SEE any ghosts? And with that, to my pedestal: Remakes are just shortcuts to thinking, funded by a sad cross section of studio execs who think they have a pulse on public taste and market synergy just because they've read "HIT AND RUN." "Indie" filmmakers are just as guilty, because they're pirating their road-trip-girl-with-gun-lets-t alk-about-pop-culture cinema trash from ONE ANOTHER, at a faster rate, and under the guise of being an original film. If I had to choose the lesser of the two evils when it came to remakes, I'd pick the studios. Because at least they're not pawning off their remakes as byproducts of auteur genius. People have mis-interpreted what I have meant. Jan De Bont isn't fit to lick Stanley Kubricks shoes when it comes to making films, it's just that he thinks he does. Stanley Kubrick is the most important and influential film maker ever, responsible or Paths Of Glory, The Shining, Dr Strangelove and many more. Jan De Bont made Speed 2, Nuff Said. My point was that Jan De Bont wants to be Kubrick, but never will be. Ever.

Spielberg, the best haunted house movie director ? No way! Poltergeist was good but not great. The best horror film and haunted house story in the history of film is Robert Wise's THE HAUNTING. Only Kubrick's film of THE SHINING ranks as 2nd best. I can't believe Hollywood is re-making THE HAUNTING! God damn bastards! What's next ? Casablanca ?! Second, please PLEASE don't tell me they're going to use CGI and computer graphics to turn the film's dark scarry creepy sounds and silence of the horror of the unknown and unseen into another lame Poltergeist rip-off.

Is Jan De Bont really all that bad? Ok sure Speed 2 was crap but Speed surely can be regarded as good & Twister not bad is it? I'm not saying De Bont is a great director but he does make good big blockbuster unlike others e.g.Stephen Hopkins, Roger Donaldson.... And there's nothing wrong with attempting to remake a film e.g. box office smash 'A Perfect Murder'. One last thing, whats with all of you your dated devotion to Kubrick? Come on the man's nearly 70 & he makes 1 film every 10 years! Time to let him join Hitchcock a great movie director and to look to the future of movies 'Kevin Smith', 'Paul Thomas Anderson' & 'Shane Meadows'.

Throughout this site, there has been talk a screenplay for The Haunting Of Hill House, based of the novel by Shirley Jackson, on which the film The Haunting by Robert Wise was based. At no point has it confused The Haunting Of Hill House with The Legend Of Hell House. The only person who seems to have gotten these films confused is yourself. By the way, John Hough also directed Escape From Witch Mountain.

I don't know where all that venom you spewed out came from (must be a personal problem), but would you please take it somewhere else. Your comments about 'Hill House' and 'Hell House' show that you obviously didn't read this article very carefully. True this area is to allow the fans to express their opinions, but I would hardly consider your outpouring of crap a legitimate opinion. Please just go away untill you can learn to play with the adults.
Ah, he probably just re-registered under a new name.
