Thanks for the link. I remember playing that game for hours, drawing maps for the maze section and being amazed at the scope of the story and play mechanics. A great game at the time. I bought the DVD and several manga that I recommend for anyone interested in Golgo 13. Not the best anime ever but entertaining.

I could have sworn he did. Anybody got the 411? Anyway, That anime was some wild stuff and I guess it did add to that anime "sex and violence" stigma. ..but so what? It still ruled! Not everything's gotta be Howl's Moving Castle. Happy 5th bro!

I've never followed much anime outside of Miyazaki, but I steal reads of AnimAICN for the manga news periodically. S'all good stuff, and as a member of one of AICN's other niche departments (AICN Comics), I know well the brutal grind that's involved in doing a weekly column here. Takes a lot of love for your chosen medium to put in so much time, and so...Cheers!

And Golgo 13 started it all for me...well either that or the live action Godzilla stuff...Before ya knew it I was watching Aikira then Giant Robo, Vamp Hunter D, ect ect Btw Advent Children is out there with subs and its awesome...Maybe 5 years too late for those that didn't play FF VII to get the backstory but Cloud is bad ass none-the-less.

this is only slightly off topic, but hey, anime is Japanese media closely tied to the comic culture, isn't it? check out the NYT article article about the bigotted Japanese comics that are becoming more and more popular. http://tinyurl.com/bjbzu this site promotes both anime and comics, so i think the issue is fair game to discuss. i only wonder why Harry hasn't addressed the issue on this site already, as much as a fan he seems to be of Japanese media, and of social responsibility as well.
