Jason Alexander was actually playing a version of Larry David on Seinfeld. So you can't really accuse him of acting like himself on his own show about his life. That said, if you don't laugh at this show, I don't think I'd share too many laughs with you. Funniest goddamn show on TV, and way better than Seinfeld.

Seinfeld is one of the funniest shows ever. Curb your enthusiasm should not even be mentioned in the same sentence. This seems to be one of those shows where someone feels that they are more intelligent than others because they "understand" the comedy. its like the cool thing to do. I'll tell you what, I "understand" it and I still think it sucks. I'll give it one more try though (i wanna be cool too).

You're fucking nuts, dude. I loved Seinfeld, but Curb is Seinfeld's best character--George--only R rated, and it's fucking hilarious. The best comedy on TV and has been ever since it first premiered. If you don't think it's funny, you need to change your name to Grumpy, get yourself a bathrobe and a lawn chair, set it up on your front lawn, and holler at the neighborhood kids to "Keep off my lawn, goddamit!" so we can all laugh at you.

...when there's a much better test available for determining who is a decent human being worth talking to and who's a no-good humorless reptilian asshat? You can pretty much divide the population of the western world into those two categories by asking these two questions: 1) Do you like BBC's The Office? and 2) Do you think CYE is funny? If you answer no to either of those questions, you're most likely a fatuous replicunt and a threat to civilization.

I don't get HBO but I've caught most of the episodes on DVD. I never really thought Seinfeld was all that funny (and never liked how it got more acclaim than the Simpsons, which I always found funnier and just overall better, flame away). I also never found the Seinfeld characters likable, or even remotely redeemable. CYE actually has some characters who I like (Cheryl seems to be a good person and she and Larry really seem to love each other, which balances the show out).

But it's really really really hard to like Larry David sometimes. The guy comes across as a very hard to like jerk. Still, there's no questioning his genious. I remember when he left Seinfeld and my big fear was the show would lose its edge - it did and now we see why. David is that good.

That makes me half-replicant, I guess. They both have similar MOs - have the main idiot make the sort of faux pas most people wouldn't dream of comitting. The difference is that David Brent, at some level, knows how utterly pathetic and unlikeable he is, whereas Larry David (the character, anyway) doesn't seem to have that sort of self-awareness, and just digs himself a deeper hole. Larry David is a better actor than Seinfeld, I'll give him that. At least he doesn't laugh/smile at his own jokes.

Mr. Fantasto, I love how you think since I don't watch curb, that I automatically watch shows like friends, Joey, will & grace (which for your information I don't watch). That just shows how you place yourself in your own realm thinking your hip as shit because you "understand" Larry Davids humor. I'm not saying people who watch the show are "idiots, with no taste". I just think it became one of those shows that became "the cool thing to watch". It surely has it's moments and definetly has its clever moments that make me smile, but it's nowhere near the riotfest people make it out to be. Seinfeld had perfect comedic timing, with great characters. CYE pushes itself to hard, IN MY OPINION. Now with all that said, currently, there are not too many great comedies on T.V. Maybe this is why CYE stands out from the bunch. Though SFU and the office are pretty amazing, extras showed promise too. Oh yeah, btw....OPtimus 122 "Josh town =Mental Midget - Friggin trolling moron , if you can't laugh at this show your an imbecille , ya dumb douchebag." Dylan was being interviewed about A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, and was asked whether the song was about Acid Rain. In reply Dylan said, "No it's a Hard rain. A HARD rain." I don't know what's so amusing about that, but it got me. I think, at the least, Dylan brought a weight to the lyrics, made them mean something, and you can't doubt if you listen to a few of his songs that the man knew how to make a tune. Even David Bowie admitted he had a voice like "sand and glue", but you know that's not the point right? He knew he wasn't Smokey Robinson, it's not the genre he emerged from- he came out of folk music, which meant that he spoke for the people. You may not be one of those people, and you're allowed not to be, but chances are the guy's got more of a sense of humour than whatever it is you listen to.

I'm not a superfan, just like his music and understand that he did indeed break new ground with what he did. Of course songwriting and pop music would have advanced without him, but he was there and he did advance pop music and songwriting, while managing to reflect a whole section of society (intentionally or not). and I bet you're proud, but it looks to me like you're spewing a hell of a lot of vitriol without many points to back it up. As far as Guthrie's concerned, he had the political intent down pat for sure, but he also had the blues artist disorder (B.A.D.), which meant that he took his own unique style and pasted it onto every song he wrote (see Leadbelly, Elmore James etc. for more examples). And also, at the time Guthrie was fighting fascists, he was a minority. There weren't many out there telling it like it is in music. The thing about Dylan is that he was part of that "happening", if he wanted to be or not. AND Joan Baez will admit that she learnt all her tricks on making her statement songs not sound preachy from Zimmerman himself.

But I'm going to have to go into another of those, Without Dylan you'd never have Marley talking about Jamaican soldiers being forced to fight for the U.S., or Public Enemy's rambling story-like poetry, or the Beatles' career post Norwegian Wood, or Chili Peppers songs like Power of Equality, or well...I'm not sure what kind of influence Dylan had on George Clinton. A man who goes about wearing a pink wig is his own man. And you really think Rage Against the Machine have nice, coherent, clear vocals?
Hey, I'm just asking what music you like, that's all.

No need to get so upset man. You just don't seem to have a real reason for not liking Dylan. Which makes me think you are a contrarian wanker or just trolling.

Seeing as though it's never going to be released in Dylan's lifetime. If you liked Scorsese's take on this you should also check out the Last Waltz (depending if you've got a stomach for The Band, which I definitely do) and Woodstock (he was a cameraman throughout). Though I wouldn't be surprised you already have seen those two if you've managed to DLB and GS...asswipe.
Anyone seen Cocksucker Blues?

Now that is one hell of a "rockumentary" if you will.
Yeah- that was around the same time the stones were touring with

...well...you know what happens in that rockumentary. And Keith Richards actually had the tenacity to criticize Wonder's backing band (Wonderstuff??) for partying when they should have been playing.
Seppuku, at the risk of stretching the talkback....

Well I stand corrected. Thanks for the head's up hype! Poor, poor credit card, you're going to have to be mis-treated again.
