well, i'm no genius and within about a minute of going to quicktime.com, i got quicktime 7 working for my windows xp based computer. you people that complain need to try a little bit harder before you start whining. the trailer isn't that awesome, but its not the worst trailer ever, so we'll see. the variables involved in this project would make one think that the whole thing is doomed, but maybe somebody will get lucky. hope its us.

But seeing as how The director has already royally fucked DD up I can honestly say this trailer was garbage. No GR except for that test footage they showed on Extra. The effects of the flame head and cycle aren't in this at all just some lame ass fire sticks and mortar cannons with some flippy cars to show the speed of the bike. Wes Bently does his best impersonation of Cillian Murphy in Batman Begins he even says the line,"he's here and looks the same way Murphy did but with white face makeup. Constantine looked better than this garbage. I really don't know why Marvel and Sony/Columbia hired this no talent hack to direct this flick. This was an easy Mikey Bay type flick. The guy has no clue how to frame a shot or how to film a coherent sequence. Oh well, as from now till I see something better, this looks horrible.

I use Quicktime alternative and can see it just fine. The trailer didn't look bad, it didn't look great but I don't think it'll be as bad as Fantastic Four. The main thing I didn't like about DD was the cast but there's no Ben Affleck in Ghost Rider.

If you freeze frame when Nic has that flash of the skull early in the trailer, you get a pretty good look at the flaming skull, and it looks decent enough. However Nic's hair when he is being interviewed by Eva Mendes is horrible. (Eva should have played that native american chick Witch Woman from the 70's Ghost rider comics). Wes Bentley is still a creepy bastard and Sam elliot is a cinematic God. He was Wade Garrett for cryin' out loud! (Damn, that hurts don't it?)

It's kind of like a Werewolf thing, though Jekyll and Hyde is an apt metaphor. Johnny blaze sold his soul to the Devil (In the original comic, I think it was to save the father of his girlfriend, who basically raised him, from Cancer). however, Satan screwed him, and the guy died doing a motorcycle stunt. Blaze tried to do some kind of spell to negate his deal with the Devil, and somehow was transformed into Ghost Rider. At dusk he would become Ghost Rider, and at dawn revert back to Johnny Blaze. Of course the stories been altered somewhat I'm sure since those 70's comica I read.

I actually think I'll enjoy this movie. Although I did enjoy the Punisher and most of Daredevil so I'm sucker for dark comic book movies. Didn't like Hulk and never want to see F4. I think the only bright Superhero I like is Spiderman. Not that any of you actually care... but yeah.

I was afraid of that. Ghost Rider really needs an R rating. It's not like Blade wasn't successful with one, I don't know why with this story you'd go for PG13. It seems like a mistake to me. Not violent enough when you're dealing with this character, and it isn't going to get the familes that FF did. The Johhny Blaze Ghost Rider did change back and forth. I'm getting less excited as I type this, that PG13 rating is bugging me.

It just made sense to go for an R rating I thought, when they made it into a movie. The same for Ghost Rider. And what works in a comic for all ages doesn't work the same in a film. There's some really cool stuff in the comics, and the best stuff wouldn't work with an R rating, in my opinion. Or it would seem lame. Just when you thought Marvel and Avi would never again stoop to ManThing or Daredevil levels of badness... now, I am not one to usually harp on how horrific an early trailer looks...I mean, by the looks of all of the Fantastic Four trailers, I thought that that movie was going to be a trainwreck; but when I finally saw it, I was comforted by the fact that it was a mildly enjoyable trainwreck. Now, it's too early to judge the special effects in Ghost Rider, so I am not extremely alarmed by the fleeting shots of Cage's plastic-looking skull on fire in the trailer. But look at that cinematography! Oh, lord, the acting!!!! Wes Bentley's HORRIBLE make-up!!!! What's with the shoe polish under the eyes, are you about to suit up for football?? And oh god, poor Captain America himself, Peter Fonda...what the hell happened to you, man??!!! And Nic Cage's hairpiece, yow! And that stupid, fat goth bitch, speaking to the press, and describing Ghost Rider: Was she supposed to be FUNNY????? I rolled my fucking eyes upon viewing that scene. EDIT THAT COW OUT!! Hey if I was a Marvel Character Feature Film person I would have all of these in the Development Pipeline aswell; X-Men 3, Ghost Rider, The Punisher 2, Spider-Man 3, Namor, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Deathlok, The Hulk 2, Wolverine, and then just to ice the cake I would probably develop Ant-Man, Black Panther, Captain America, Killraven, Nick Fury, Silver Surfer and Thor, with that many projects on the go my bonus will be gigantic when the revenue comes in........I for one will be boycotting all these films, unless some decent talent is involved, but the way marvel is going they clearly do not care what happens to their precious characters...how depressing.

I just watched constantine last night and thought it was own worthy in fact it was damn fine. Now daredevil was one of my favorite comic book charaters but I can't stand Ben and that just totally fucked that movie for me. But I think this one has a shot or two, ghost rider and the battle of hell and heaven that rages on earth has long been a strong premise for good movies. And so far thats what this looks like, so I'm all in. And for all you geeks complaining about the lack of a solid image of the ghost rider I say this; it's kinda like the tripods in WOTW, it's something better seen raw and do you really want that spoiled for a trailer?

well, i watched it a few times. the good: sam elliot, sam elliot's voice, the atmosphere, the music and some cool action. the bad: eva mendes, fat girl, cage's weird hair-type thing, some of cage's delivery, bad jokes and the unfinished cg. i like it because it's GR but it's not great or anything. there were some cool spooky type shots, the dog barking, the streetlights going out, the foggy swamp, the clouded sun, etc. hopefully this main theme of darkness will pervade throughout. my opinion is that they are headed in the right direction but they need to stay away from the cheese and the corn.

the original story has changed a few times but it's basically the same deal. johnny blaze's parents die. he is taken in by the carnival his father worked for as a stunt rider. blaze makes a pact with mephisto/satan/the devil to save his adoptive father from cancer. meph promises he won't die from CANCER and instead he eats it hard while attempting a cycle stunt. blaze has sold his soul and when meph comes to collect, roxanne his WHITE, RED-HEADED girlfriend speaks some occult gibberish and meph goes away. since meph can't get johnny's soul he curses him by binding him to a demon. the demon takes control at night when evil approaches. it has no memory of itself and it creates it's bike from hellfire and shoots hellfire out of it's hands. eventually the demon is revealed to be zarathos an evil demon from ancient times. in the end blaze is able to separate from zarathos.

the new gr started in 92 or 93 and was the better story. dan ketch finds an old motorcycle in a graveyard. when his sister is killed there he is possessed by the ghost rider. in this one the bike transforms into the actual hellcycle when gr pops up. this gr has the mystic chains, the spikes on him and the penance stare. again gr has no memory of himself but this time he is driven by vengeance. he must protect the innocent and make the wicked feel the pain of all their victims.

...now...personally...I didnt like the trailer much,the design of little things like Cage's biker suit when interviewed looked..horrid.But I have to admit..and,oh by christ I'm gonna get flamed..I liked Daredevil!DD didnt real feel like the Matt I have read about.Affleck,I like as a guy,he's a bit mad,bad-ish and probably really funny company over a beer..but not Murdock to me..but I thought the stuff with his father and generally a lot of the film was at least made by..certainly felt like..a fan.In the documentary Mark Stephen Johnston(sp?) came over as a nice dude.Good Luck with this film.But...y'know..I get the impression it's gonna be aimed at 12-13 yr olds with a heavy rock soundtrack and lots of totty with their boobs pumped up to freakish level.But...hell,I hated the first designs of Gollum so...who the fuck am I to talk.I think most people on this site(which is great fun to voice OVER-DRAMATIZED-OPINIONS)get the fact that works in progress are exactly that.All we want is a good fun couple of hours in the flix that don't feel like a $9 blow job off a 300 yr old corpse.Michael Bay and The Descent director take note....

Harry, you're missing the point. I don't care if GR winds up being the most dead-on, kick-ass rendition of a Marvel character ever to hit the screen...the movie itself just screams 'ASSSSSSS!' based on what we see here. Bentley and Fonda just look absolutely ridiculous, not even remotely threatening or scary. Even Sam Elliot, someone I consider fairly bulletproof, looks silly slinging that shovel around. The dialogue sucks, the character designs and makeup suck (for Meph and Blackheart or whatever his name is), the whole thing just looks like a complete abortion. The GR design isn't my worry...it's a terrible script and awful casting decisions backed by a star that may be zealous for the role but really isn't cut out for it that has me trembling.

Yeah, you're right about that scene. It sucked and sucked hard. But for you to diss the entire movie based upon the weight of that one scene obviates why you should hate the entirety of Spider-Man 2 for the train sequence. Parker goes completely maskless and we're expected to believe that no one aboard the train is carrying a camera phone with them or bears the temerity to identify Parker to a police sketch artist. There were ten times as many adult bystanders on the train than there were children in the playground. Now, perhaps you hated Spider-Man 2 as well. I don't know. But by your own account you should find that it sucks at least as much ass as DD for committing the same crime against logic and reasoning.

That was one reason I wondered what the rating was going to be. Ghost Rider had some really cool stories that could actually be scary if done right. There was one that had Ghost Rider having to save the pope from someone who considered him to be the leader of the world. He had the pope strapped to a table to prepare him for sacrifice. I think that would look cheesy with PG13, you know they're not going to show the pope in any real danger or getting beat up in a PG13 movie. but with an R, you'd be thinking the whole time,"This dude's beating up the pope!" I'm not dismissing the entire movie based on that one scene. That scene to me is symptomatic of the entire film. Because besides being mind numbingly dumb, the scene is also awkward, dull, and has Ben Affleck in it. (hee) I actually liked Spiderman 2 quite a bit, with the exception of Snaggletooth McGee (Kirsten Dunst) who was miscast and bad in the first one and miscast and AWFUL in the second. I never do that "It should have been ___ instead of ___" but with Spiderman I do. Mary Jane should have been played by Laura Prepon, end of story. Anyway, going in I'd seen the trailer with him not wearing his mask and I thought, "They'd better come up with a DAMN good explanation for that." I was ready to hate the movie if they couldn't. And while I still agree it would have been better to NOT have it in the movie, here's why it doesn't bother me and how it's different than DD's scene. Spiderman didn't intentionally take his mask off, he can't see anything and has no choice but to rip it off. The people might have been too much in shock to even THINK about using a camera phone. First because they almost died and then because they see that Spiderman is just some punk kid who almost died to save them. And we only have their word that they won't tell. You know that the very next day those kids were telling all their friends that they saw under Spiderman's mask. To which their friends would say, "Shut the fuck up, foo. You ain't seen shit." The only part of that scene which bothered me was the "Spiderman as Jesus" shot where he's being hauled over people's heads. Now Daredevil on the other hand, he not only purposely throws away his secret identity, he does it just because he wants a piece.

The one comic character who I thought would make the most kick ass movie-hero is finally on screen. I love comics, but not comics movies, hopefully this film will cause me to have me a change of heart.

I've never seen flatter cinematography in an action comic book movie trailer in my life. Maybe Fantastic Four.

If you thought the playground scene was bad, what did you think of him revealing himself to the Kingpin? And the Kingpin won't do anything about it because he would be "embarassed" if people knew he had been beaten by a blind man??? That was when, for me, the movie lost its last shred of credibility.
