Those bastards pulled "Ed" out of syndication
by Ribbons
Jul 5th, 2005
02:15:01 AM
I was getting nice and ready to watch an episode of "Ed" at 12/11 central on TBS today when, to my surprise, it wasn't there. Thinking that the holiday had facilitated an impromptu change of schedule, I proceeded to check the projected lineup for the next three days -- not a single episode of "Ed" in sight. It's been usurped by, of all things, an hour block of "Becker." Fucking "Becker." And just when the series was about to cycle back to its first, and best, season. Now more than ever, "Ed" needs a DVD release.
Help get "Daria" on DVD ...
by MaryPoppinsWrath
Jul 5th, 2005
02:35:14 AM
There are a few episodes available as "bonus features" on the DVDs of the two Daria TV-movies "Is It Fall Yet?" and "Is It College Yet?", but these episodes lack the original music (and IICY? is the cut-for-syndication version, to boot). If you happen to care enough, here's the URL for the central website dedicated to pushing for more Daria on DVD: http://www.the-wildone.com/dvd aria/ ..... There's a petition to sign, a form letter to mail, the usual stuff. If you're like me, and have fond memories of the show, take a few minutes to check it out. It's a good campaign, and the webmaster is in touch with Daria's creator, Glenn Eichler.

Bakersfield P.D. gets my vote but I would also like to see Hooperman again. Even more so, "Frank's Place" and season sets of "Get a Life." For God's sakes, get those "Larry Sanders" sets out and the remaining "Upright Citizen Brigade" seasons. Plus we need a deluxe box set of "TV Funhouse."

Ribbons, I noticed that Ed hasn't been recording (on my ReplayTV) lately ... but now I realize that you're right, Ed is Dead!! I had actually just started recording it over the last two weeks, I was just starting to really get into it. Just doesn't seem right. This would be the type of thing I would buy on DVD. Uggh.

BTW anybody in UK who is always hearing about Wonderfalls on this site (and hasn't bought/downloaded it) it starts on Sky One this week (possibly tonight), Men I recommend watching it with your partner (if you have one) it gets better as it goes on so don't give up on it.

are tv gods. Good job on putting MSCL and Relativity on there. Relativity is pretty much my number 1 pick for most needed on dvd because it's never been rerun. The other 3 H/Z shows have been rerun numerous times on cable, but AFAIK Relativity has only seen the light of day once. You should add thirtysomething to your list too. A lot of people seem to hate that show for some reason, but it's actually a bit better than Relativity and MSCL because it actually stayed on the air for a few years. If MSCL had lasted a couple years it'd easily be the best TV show of all time.
police squad!

Jul 5th, 2005
09:23:52 PM
Forgot to mention my second pick after Relativity would be Police Squad! I think it was actually on laserdisc, but I don't think it ever got a dvd release. Maybe I'm just weird, but I think PS! is 100 times better than the Naked Gun movies. PS! was on the same level of quality as Airplane!, but by the time Naked Gun was made, the Zucker's were already at the same level of crappiness they are today. Also, I love Mike White, but Pasadena was pretty mediocre. DH is 100 times as smart and funny as Pasadena was. They're not really even the same genre. DH is a comedy with some soap elements and some really great slice of life type moments. Pasadena was an over the top soap with a little bit of an undercurrent of dark comedy, but not really enough to ever give you a good laugh.

Read on the TV On DvD website, that SAAB will be out this summer on DVD from Best Buy exclusively for a couple months then other retailers. No word on any extra features but there is this at least. Truly a show that deserved more then the dreaded Fox Friday Night Massacre's of the 90's such as Briscoe County, Jr. , Vr.5, The Visitor (had promise needed tweeking, hell even Strange Luck wasn't that bad. BTW, when your wife meets Shawn Cassidy in person touring her workplace and the first thing she blurts out is that her Husband Loved American Gothic, is that a good thing? Sure beats the hell out of "You were my first crush when I was 9" don't it? Supposedly doing a new HBO series he is, in the same sort of vein as Gothic? Who knows, just telling what I heard. Ok, return to the TV-DVD wish list postings. Have a good one All.

With the exception of Mission: Impossible, what are all of these? Fifteen years old or less? Sgt. (I can't believe Baa Baa Black Sheep a/k/a The Black Sheep Squadron made it to DVD before The Wild, Wild West. Or for that matter, that The Munsters hit DVD before The Addams Family.) The STAR TREK ANIMATED SERIES! Why isn't this one out or scheduled for release? Unlike most animated tv knockoffs of that era, the two Star Trek animated seasons at times equalled the quality of TOS. Several of the TOS writers scripted episodes (D.C. Fontanna and David Gerrod, both come to my mind. And also not mentioned: The original HB FANTASTIC FOUR animated series! What ammount of red tape is barring its release? Finally, the long forgotten BEATLES animated series, featuring stories inspired by classic Beatles tunes. They were all tiny proto music videos in their own right. Plus, there was a weekly sing-a-long feature. This should be out!
