If someone struggles all their life at the bottom of the heap and is forever dragged down by mental health problems that prevent them from ever achieving their goals, I have nothing but sympathy. But when someone goes nuts because they got it all, because the pressure of having too much money and fame, well, I understand fully how it can happen, but sympathy? eh, not so much... Whether it's drugs, nervous exhaustion, meglomania gone mad, too much partying, or mental problems, I too, of course, hope Chappelle gets well and gets back to the funny... but I'm not going to feign some sort of sycnchophantic celebrity sympathy for the guy... after all, faux fawning and hand-wringing would be the LAST thing Chappelle himself would offer up -- if he saw this kind of celebrity weirdness he'd go straight for the jugular...

All of the PC talk about Chapelle, why not do some research on the guy. I saw him live at the University of FLorida Gator Growl. he was the headlining comedian that year. He was so high he could barely walk, and WAY too high to even perform his routine. he forgot words, he stopped jokes in the middle and then just stared off in space. I have no problem saying he's in "a looney bin" because he's there for things he's done TO himself. Yeah, if you do drugs and alcohol because you've got the money, and get by on doing supporting roles in a couple movies here and there, you might get by. But mix those drugs and alcohol with a tv schedule and deadlines? TIME BOMB baby. I'm sure none of you had love for Matthew Perry or Robert DOwney JR. Why the support of "get well Dave". Cause he said I'm Rick James Bitch? I mean, the show has a couple of moments here and there, and those moments are really good. But there's a lot of crap in it too. Anyone who can't handle the pressure of one good sketch a show deserves to be in the looney bin, AND sued.

i've seen DC in standup, and yeah the tickets were overpriced, cause it was just last Xmas, but i gotta say i was a little disappointed. he head some good material that hit the nail, but some of it was just ok. I personally think that DC is better acting in a movie to get laughs as opposed to standup. I'm probably one of the few here that has only seen 2 episodes of his show. I think DC's success hings more on his likability then his actual talent. he's a nice guy in person. i've always heard good things about him from people who met him in person, and when I say good, i mean a good expierence in meeting him. I know after the show last year he stayed back and meet fans, and signed autographs of everyone who stayed and wanted one, especially since like most celebs he could've just finished his performance and left out the back. I hope he gets better what ever his problem may be.

Apparently a huge portion of Dave's 50 million deal was supposed to come from future DVD sales of the next few seasons. So if the seasons suck (and no one buys the DVDs) then he'll not make as much money. A smart move by COmedy Central - they promise that he'll be payed pretty damn well, as long as he keeps producing quality work. ...so I never saw this french hat show everybody talks about. I thought Half Baked was funny in places. But then I thought The Geena Davis show with Kim Coles and Mimi Rogers was sexy, so what do I know? Yes Dave Chappeau was slated to play Rick James in a comedy based on the Super Freak's autobiography. Think about that, you write your life story and someone buys it to turn it into a comedy. THAT was what killed Rick James, and guilt over that is what drove Dave Chateau nuts. You'd go nuts too if you made fun of someone so hard it killed them. I think I saw this Dave Chevelle on Conan a few times, too. He was pretty funny before he went nuts. So Mitch Hedberg had a bad heart? That's too bad, he was a pretty funny guy too.
