Journalists are a dying breed. What we've got now are sensationalists who spout propoganda and fear the truth. I miss Walter Cronkite, and he was a right bastard sometimes!

The "journalists" on today's news have no idea what "hard" news is. It's a bygone era when newscasters would actually explain issues and dig into the truth, rather than modern newscasting, babbling off the party line (FOX) or tripping over themselves (CBS).

Will be around for atleast 2 more seasons. Personally, I think the show has been medicore for years now and they should let it die with atleast a little bit of dignity. Just like the networks to bleed something dry.
ER was always supposed to be Carter's show...

...and end with his character's arc. He was supposed to start as a wet-behind-the-ears rookie, screw up, learn some lessons, make his way to the top, and start running the show. Then things would end. It was a good plan, and one they could justify taking a dozen years. Now they're just getting greedy. Eight episodes in two years doesn't cut it, and neither does going back to Thandie--the relationship never had any real heft. It was too out of left field, too insubstantial. They should've crammed all eight of his episodes into next season and then bowed out gracefully while that was still an option.

Is still better than 90 percent of TV. Most of the characters are really engaging.

Linda Cardellini. And her rack. She's really, really cute. And is a pretty decent actress, too. And she has a nice rack. Other than that, I agree - ER is still in the top 10% of shows. Well produced, well acted, and reasonably fresh stories, even after a decade.
Okay ... have at it

Tell me what's better than ER. If you want to count cable shows as part of the sample population, for every "Carnivale" or "Battlestar Galactica" show you count, you also have to factor in 78 hours of Trading Spaces and its varients, every piece of shit on the Oxygen Network and the 4 or 5 hillbilly motorsports channels out there. Face it, there ain't much good out there, and ER shines by comparison.

Therefore, saying "ER" (or "the Simpsons" for that matter) is "better than 90% of TV" is simply saying it is marginally better than crap.

Marg Helgenberger is not dead. She IS older than 37, 46 to be exact, but alive and kicking as far as a couple quick web scans reveal. And what the hell would it have to do with this here topic anyway?
