"What's happening with Friday The 13th? Nothing at all! It's a complete lie. I like Jason and everything, but I've no intention of directing a movie! New Line talked to me about it, but it was a complete fabrication, that article. I would love to do a horror film. I'm just saying it's not going to be Friday The 13th..." said the "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill" director.

Does anyone else think this movie sounds really interesting? And it's good to see Richard Donner directing again.

Fansite or Corporate Fake?

Hi all Webmasters, Michael 'Xoanon' Regina here, I just wanted to drop you a line and I encourage all of you to post this email if you think this poses a potential problem for people in our 'business'. About one month ago Warner Bros. contacted me claiming they were really interested in my team developing a website for them very similar to what we are doing on KongisKing.net. A fan site with exclusive content from the production company and the director. We had a meeting with them and in good faith detailed the bread and butter of our operation. Working under the assumption that Warner Bros. would discuss this within their upper management and get back to me. They even had the nerve to remind me that anything we discussed would be 'off the record'. The sudden appearance of this supposed 'fan site' http://www.bluetights.net/bull etin_list.php is, needless to say, a real disheartening move on Warner Bros. part. They claim this site is run by fans, and carries exclusive contend from the production company and the directly..rather uncannily like KongisKing.net. It really calls into question the very ideals and trust we have worked hard to generate with production companies and the fans they supposedly hold dear to their hearts. It also begs the question, who is working for whom? When a production company creates a site 'by fans and for fans', is that not akin to the tail wagging the dog? We at The One Ring Inc. (the company created after the success of TheOneRing.net, KongisKing.net and TheOneLion.net) were willing and able to create a Superman site out of the sheer 'geeky' joy of the forthcoming film, however now they are left with a pale imitation of a fansite, devoid of the heart and soul that goes into making fansites what they are today. I really hope you guys publish this on your sites, and let the fans know what really goes on behind-the-web-scenes. ------------------------------ ---------------------------- Michael Regina Editor in Chief/Segment Producer PH: 514.947.5221 http://www.TheOneRing.net http://www.KongisKing.net http://www.TheOneLion.net ------------------------------ ----------------------------

We demand constant updates for the "snakes on a plane" movie!!! Maybe now that Samuel L. Jackson's in the cast, Mr. Gunn, you'll give it the attention it deserves.

Of course studios and production companies create websites which pretend to be fansites! Take a look at the "Keep To The Code" site Gunn mentioned -- it's an "Official Fansite", a contradiction is terms. The studios are just catching up to what video game companies have been doing for a decade: providing webpage designs, multi-media content, server capacity, storage capacity, etc., to any person or company willing to front for their product. Just like in politics, the studios want to decide which words and images reach the public.

Elston's a day late; so am I. Five sequels, four biopics, three sports-themed movies, two African-American ensemble dramas, one remake, one Memento ripoff, one kind-of-creepy romcom premise, one musical and one vampire western. This week's You-Were-Gone? Award: Merchant Ivory. This week's Please-God-Don't-Make-A-Gorgeo us-Actress-Into-An-Ugly-Serial -Killer Award: Salma Hayek. Just plain lazy: "16 Blocks". Remember when a Willis pic could demolish a whole city? Now he's spending time with his kids and going for a walk with the camera running.

In fact, NOBODY needs Billy Crystal. A (new) film based on a musical based on an (old) film... Ricki Lake's turn as the scowling / smiling / dancing Tracy Turnblad is tunza-fun.
