You've gotta be bloody kidding! Great if it were true but I don't think so. Saying that though, considering what there gonna change the Oscars nite into this year, next year all bets are off.

well, this isn't strictly a SW talkback

Since the only news about SW is that there was no news! Interesting to hear the Kevin Smith stuff though - anybody who has seen the Clerks X 10th anniversary Q & A will have seen the uncomfortable moment when a fan probes Smith about the fact that he didn't pay the guy who played Randal a dime, even after having the property bought by Miramax. I'm not sure where I stand on this. I mean, if I asked a bunch of friends to appear in a movie which I was pretty much singlehandedly financing, and they agreed, and then the movie went on to become a success, I'm not sure I would feel obliged to pay them money, does that make me an asshole. Legally, I'm sure I wouldn't ve required to. Then again, Randal wasn't played by somebody who had aspirations of being an actor, so he probably has a point when he says that Miramax enjoyed a fair amount of cash off the back of his efforts. And another thing - I read on some other TB that there is something called Clerks: the missing scene on the Clerks X dvd, but for the life of me I can't find the thing!! I was told that it's some kind of animated thing with that chick from Chasing Amy - but I can't find anything bearing that description - does anybody have a clue what I'm talking about. One last thing: it occurred to me recently that whereas I once thought of Chasing Amy as a very mature and thought-provoking film, watching it now I just find it slightly depressing and juvenile. Why have my opinions changed?

My faith in this film is melting away fast. Two hours of Cruise as Suburban Douchebag Everyman, bonding with his obnoxiusly cute daughter. Great. Every once in a while there'll be a shot of a tripod ripping out a piece of highway overpass... but don't blink or you'll miss it. I'll still see it but at this point I'm not holding my breath.

Initially pissed off about ditching Victorian England for modern day America and still am to a degree. But I am getting more and more enthusiastic about this. Love the interdimensional rumour. But why America. Always America. Tiresome. Imagine the outrage if Batman Begins was set in Tokyo.

scared the hell out of me several times, heh - maybe I had the sound on too loud, but it really made me jump. The movie itself really doesn't even look that great; it did, until I saw the creatures that look like giant bats or something. They may have been better off not showing that and leaving them be a mystery.

That'd be the day. Can't wait for Begins. I probably should have posted this on the House of Wax TB, but hey, nobody is saying anything in this one. It looked ok, nothing special except the last shot of the hand in the wax for some odd reason REALLY bothered me. Anyone else find it kinda creepy? Maybe I'm just a major loser. Passion of the Clerks sounds like it could be cool, I mean it has the one thing that makes almost anything good: NINJAS. God, I'm bored.

...looks like it doesn't take enough advantage of the claustrophobic feel of real caves which have very narrow and tight passages. Like most movies and TV shows, all the caverns and passages are huge and easy to walk through. Also, the idea looked good until I found out it's just another creature movie. Same ol' same ol'...

The Cave = PG13 shitfest
by scrivener

So the movie looks really good up until the first guys dissapear and we're introduced to the 'crack team of cave-explorers.' Fuck-me. Why the fuck do horror movies have to have 'crack teams' of anything for chrissakes. And these people do NOT looks like professional spelunkers. They're pretty-boy-made-for-showtime actors. Worse, the 'monsters' are just giant fucking bats! Way to go taking a good premise and fucking it way the hell up. The trailer almost had me fooled at the beginning. There was this faint shred of hope that it was going to be like The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness, or Indiana Jones-meets-Blair Witch. But I guess it's only the sequel to Alone in the Dark. And it's PG13. Fuck that.

I wonder how Spielberg beat the problem of tripods not actually
by FrankDrebin
Feb 21st, 2005

It would have to be a biped with a third leg just dangling in the middle (insert John Holmes joke here). They avoided the problem in the '53 version by having those really cool ships just hoover on 3 beams of light. Then there was "Kronos: Ravager Of Planets" from '57 where this giant refrigerator had 3 legs that just stamped up & down uselessly.

"CONSTANTINE" surprised me. It was as good as "HELLBOY."

My only main problems with the movie were 2 minor things. 1. The Devil was played off as ridiculous and seemed more flamboyantly gay than someone who wants to condemn the souls of mankind. The last scene with him and Keanau seemed like he wanted more to have his way with him than take him back to hell where he was supposed to go after the suicide attempt. 2. The guy playing Midnight played him more of a Huggy Bear wannabe, or some mystic pimp than a washed-up witch doctor. All in all though the story was good, the plot was good too, Keanau was likeable as the "chain-smoking prick of an asshole who has a heart" John Constantine. Rachel Weiz was fine as the twin sister duo. And Shia Lebeouf proved to be funny and likeable than an annoying sidekick cliche. And lastly the special effects and the look at hell was VERY AWESOME! I hope they carry on the "Hellblazer" stories because we need more of them.

It has to plant it's forepaw(s), then hop or drag it's hindpaw(s) forward. Not a very intimidating sight. But movies (like video games) can cheat and use 'cartoon physics'. A 3-legged chair is stable, but 3-legged movement isn't, which is why nature prefers 2- or 4-legged animals.

Especially about Batman Begins...very interesting stuff. I also like what I read about War of the Worlds (I hope it is documentry style like BattleStar Galatica- an excellent show by the way) The Cave looks interesting although it has that Pitch Black/Relic/Alien look to it, but a good creature movie is always good.
