Angel was the best TV

Angel represented some of the best television ever. It's a shame the fuck knockers over at WB couldn't appreciate that they had something so great on their hands. Ignorant fucks.

and i was amazed, i hated Buffy and could never get into it, after (believe me) several chances... i was just not interested, and then i was convinced to watch an episode of Angel... i was hooked after the first two episodes of season5... i mean it was awesome, but on the flipside... i never really liked the other seasons that much, all good ( i got em all on DVD) but 5 was really sweet, the interaction between Angel and Spike? priceless, and Wes the badass was awesome as well. truely a show that will be missed... it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't replace it with dreck like Jack and Bobby

Really sucked inc comparison to the other episodes around it. Perhaps had it come during the middle of that season it wouldn't have seemed so roaringly mediocre and out of synch with the quality of the other shows. That said, season five was fantastic! And the final episode of Angel was a helluva lot better than the final episode of BtVS.

If I recall correctly "Angel" was canceled right around this time last year. So it's fitting that the boxset of the last season hits this week. It was the best season of television I have ever seen. Period. As great as "Buffy" was, "Angel" surpassed it in its better moments, and season five was chock full of best moments. I can't wait to watch the season all the way through again. Dana the Vampire Slayer..."I had to get my guy back on track"..."would you like me to lie to you now?" There's nothing on now that even comes close. Yes, the Whedon DOES own all our asses. As nice as the "Firefly" movie may be, and as hopeful as Buffyverse fans are about the Buffy animated series, or the "Angel" comics comign this summer, or the rumblings about a possible Faith spin-off...none of it is the same as the weekly, flesh and blood (sucking) adventures of the vampire with a soul.

"peepee!" Holy mother of crap, ANGEL Season 5 is unbridled genius (and hence robogeek.com's DVD of the week). I second everything our good man Herc had to say. The WB execs will be eternally tortured in that basement from hell for cancelling it. Has any show ever gone out on top at an altitude even approaching this? It's a crescendo of greatness, and a MUST-HAVE DVD.

Its really too bad F/X Network didn't pick up Angel after the WB foolishly cancelled it. It would've been a no-brainer since 20th Century Fox was the true owner of the show anyway. To have The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, and Angel on a single network would've rocked. Of course, it probably would've only been a 13 episode Season Six though....granted, that's better than the nothing we have in its place. And when Smallville leaves the WB at the wishes of WB Pictures for the Singer helmed Superman film, I will not be watching that network anymore....just as I won't be watching anything on UPN after Enterprise airs its last episode. I should think that the network executives should be watching the TiVo users aggregate viewer statistics over the Nielsen ratings...let's see....3 MILLION + TiVo owners vs. 6,000 Nielsen homes... Hmmmm...I wonder which is more accurate...

What's the status update on "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent" being picked up on some other cable network (besides the atrocious G4-not-TechTV channel that cancelled it)? it really was. You're Welcome and A Hole in the World have got to be two of the most difficult to watches hours of TV in history. And Herc, thanks for mentioning the badassness of Lorne. especially memorable : "And here's one more thing--Winifred Burkle once told me, after a sinful amount of Chinese food and in lieu of absolutely nothing, "I think a lot of people would choose to be green. You're shade, if they had the choice." If I hear one note, one quarter-note, that tells me you had any involvement, these two won't even have time to kill you."

Herc, please don't use that word. My kids used to watch Charmed occasionally, and you can't go three minutes without them talking about "vanquishing" something or other. The freakin' show doesn't even have the balls to use the word "Kill". Even with the three hotties, I can't watch more than 5 minutes of that show, and it's still on. Sheesh.

"A Hole in the World" was one of the best things Joss ever had his name attached to. --- I had to tape each episode when they aired because I could only watch it in peace when my kids were asleep. One day I was watching episode 5.1 and my little brother came over. He had never seen a single episode of Buffy or Angel in his life but I could tell he really dug it. And as much as I talk shit about him, he has superb taste. That is what told me that I was rightly ga-ga over Angel season 5. That and not being able to sleep after intially watching "Not Fade Away". The end of season 5 seemed so rushed. Just one more would have been good, then they should have ended it anyway - Boreanaz and Marsters were starting to look a little to rough to play a couple of guys who hadn't aged since their mid-twenties.

My wife and I watched Angel together, even the last year of her life. That last year her lifelong problem with depression grew much worse, and she also started drinking heavily--so heavily that she would often pass out while alone with our seven year old son and five year old daughter. The night that Connor episode was broadcast she had been drinking, but we tried to put it aside and we watched the episode anyway. The next day I came home and she was drunk yet again, almost didn't get my son off the school bus. It was the final straw, I took the kids and left her. Two days later she killed herself. That episode with Connor, especially that last line, gave me a lot of strength. Still does. Not very funny, or bitchy, or trollish, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

I cried for a good 2 hours after the last episode aired. I had to go and be by myself and cry. It just hurt and sucked so bad to have that show taken away because I loved the characters so much. To have it done the way the WB fuckers did it is just bullshit of the first order. "Here, we'll celebrate your 100th episode with a big party. What knife? Angel Vs Charmed

Ye,s Joss is brilliant, funny and writes relationships and characters that are deeper the the endless well itself, and yes, he owns my ass (cant WAIT for Serenity) so why IS Charmed still on the air and Angel not? I have NO FUCKING CLUE! Does anyone else notice Charmed has to have a gimmick of the week? This week, Billy Zane (great actor, bad role) as FRIGGING ROBIN HOOD!! I mean seriously every week theres a gimmick, they become goddesses, trolls, whatever they have to do to keep their bored viewers coming back... whatever, jesus, Charmed sucks ass... god I miss Angel so much... it would be hard to have it back on the air without Alexis, Charisma and J. Richards though... I could live with Amy playing Elyria, her struggle with her own and Freds personality was actually really interesting (struggle always is interesting on a TV show, like Sawyer on Lost and Brian on QaF). In the end I think they made it hard for Angel to come back. SO many characters blossomed and died on that show and without them I think a lot of the magic would be gone... Heres hoping Joss blesses us with another great show, not Buffy, not Angel, but maybe something simliar, but new, and maybe a few of our old friends will show up to say hi. WB, you suck balls.

Figures that the WB would cancel it once Angel hit is peak. The Mountain got cancelled didn't it? Contrary to some, I thought the Girl in Question was the funniest piece of television I have ever seen. It was so weird and out there with the Italian flashback's and Spike and Angel yelling to anyone that will listen "We are the reason men fear the night" almost pissed myself after seeing Angel's new jacket.

I cried the day I heard that Angel would be cancelled. My boyfriend was coming out of the shower and I hugged him, embarrassed somewhat by the tears. He left me soon after (not because of the tears, he cheated and moved in with the guy). You'd think he'd considered if the cancellation of a TV show would do that to me WHAT HIS FUCKIN' LEAVING WOULD DO!!! It's been ten months and I'm still so far from over it (Valentine's Day, yesterday, was particularly horrible). The last ep we watched together was Fred's death. We used to watch with his head on my tummy. We didn't get to see the last episode together. It was a very sad spring.

Nihilist and Big Bad Clone....there are males in this world. Lots of them. Knuckle-dragging, self-involved assholes. And in this world, there are MEN. Only a few. That many of that few are single dads is no coincidence. You both have looked into hell and stood fast to take care of your kids. Been there, done that, and they give no T-shirt for that much less an award. The good news is the REWARD of the day your grown child shakes your hand, looks you in the eye and says "Thanks Dad, I love you." Way to go, MEN.

Too bad they had to cancel an excellent show. It surpassed Buffy in quality and the last part of Season 5 is one great ride. The first part The WB wanted more stand alones and it to be a lighter show (kinda like Alias now) but it didnt work. Once they got past that, the rest of the season is amazing. So many lives lost.... Too bad Boreanz is playing hard ball now about coming back but who can blame him.

Angel season five kicked ass! Thanks in large part to the big bad. I admit, Conner never thrilled me and Cordelia getting fat (preggers) going blonde and cutting her hair had my interest waing slightly with season 3 & 4. But season 5 cemented Angel as one of the single best seasons of television history. And it gets cancelled. Hey, you gotta make room for those great shows like ... Summerland? barf! The mountain? UUGGHH! and the "best "of the lot ... One Tree Hill. Just shoot me know. As for the best line in television history: "You give me da money, I give you da head." I can't believe that got past the censors. Comedy gold. I want a Spike and Andrew buddy/road trip 2 hour movie with Faith too boot! And bring back Wes!!

If any series deserves a motion picture, it is Angel. Angel deserves the film treatment at Fox more than an X-Files2, and I consider myself a fan of both. This is what Boreanaz wants, so why not give it to him? If Universal can make a film of Firefly - which enjoys less fans than Angel - why can't Fox deliver the goods on an Angel flick? C'mon, Joss, get to writing. Grab Edlund and some of the other writers and produce a solid screenplay.

that JLU DVD is beyond pathetic. 3 episodes? That's it? Give us the f-in season sets. Still waiting for Justice League 1 & 2; two 2-part episode DVDs don't cut it. Batman & Superman have nice fat DVDs already, how about JL, with more commentaries since Timm & the gang worked on 'em a lot less than 10-13 years ago? At LEAST replay the latest JLU on Sundays like you used to... once a week isn't enough, to say nothing of the complete moratorium on old JL episodes. Angel Season 5 -- definitely the set to get. Great show all around, but 5 had the balls to just go every which way and STILL come out kickin' ass. It's worth it just for the brilliance of the puppet episode.
