Correct me if I'm wrong, but is a fellow native Welsh guy, like myself, the ONLY person ever to play both a D.C hero (Mr Miracle) and a marvel hero ? Hey, better yet...both in the same year...uh...and both starting with the word "Mister" ? (I'm now officially clutching at straws)

Too bad it won't be The Question of the excellent series from late 80's. One of my favorite characters and the character that Alan Moore based Rorschach on in The Watchmen, I may just check it out. By the way, why hasn't Herc mentioned all these ex-Mutant Enemy employees suddenly popping up as voices for these characters?

since you put providing a voice for a character on the same level as physically portraying them on screen, there is a chance that Mr. Guffy is the first, but not likely. The world of TV animation has a surpisingly small cadre of vocal talent they keep turning to (though JL does like to use a lot of people with recognizable names -- a rarity on TV), so considering the long history of both Marvel and DC characters on the small screen (particularly Saturday morning fare), there's probably a few people who've done work in both universes... just no one we've ever heard of. Sounds like someone might be spending a good deal of time on the IMDb this weekend... (though not me)

Cartoon Network's Strange Programming Strategy Regarding JUSTICE

As a devoted comics fan (i.e., a nerd) and as a devoted DC fan (i.e., a big fat nerd), I look forward to JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED -- when I can catch it. For it seems that the show is *only* on Saturday nights, and if I'm not home to see it or neglect to tape it, I miss it. (And 9 times out of ten, when I finally do get a chance to see the show, it's a rerun of one I've already seen.) Meanwhile, TEEN freaking TITANS seems to be on every time I turn on my television._____My question is why is Cartoon Network so *liberal* with their airing of TEEN TITANS, (which is barely tolerable), while they're so *stingy* with JUSTICE LEAGUE? It's like they're *hoarding* it, for crying out loud. Sure, sure, Anime is real big with the kids right now, and therefore no one with a eyeball diameter of less that 6 inches gets any airtime. But the bad taste of today's youth notwithstanding, you'd think they'd show it at least a *little bit* more, just to get their money's worth, right?

1816 -- no, it doesn't. There are no re-airings after the Saturday night one and haven't been for months. The titles of the episodes Herc mentions are "Cat and Canary" "Ties that Bind" "Doomsday Sanction" "Double Date" also coming this season: "Mystery in Space" -- oh, yes "The Clash" "The Balance" and a FOUR PART season finale. Captain Marvel? check. Suice Squad? oh yes, indeed. And by the way, "Double Date" isn't the first appearance of Jeffrey Coomb's creepy, paranoid Question. If you missed this past season's "Fearful Symmetry", you missed the Question terrorizing an informant with boy band music and revealing that he goes through the trash of all the JLU members...

Hmmm, hope Herc isn't borrowing stuff from TVTome.com (where we had some of this information for about six months - way to keep current). I'm also not sure if Ioan will be playing Mr. Miracle. It also hasn't been officially announced that Double Date will be on 2/26. JLU is shown about as often as Teen Titans - I think there are as many episodes, although JLU still has more (I believe...). In the previews for tonight, we got to see Doomsday and the Suicide Squad - Deadshot and Captain Boomerang at least, although in some crappy government-issue uniforms. Hey, and more action with Vigilante and Shining Knight. Vigilante vs. Deadshot - sounds like an interesting match...

Hmm. Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't that the title of an episode in "Batman: TAS?" A completely pointless fact, I suppose, but I wonder if the two are connected in some way (i.e., someone on "JLU" worked on/watched "Batman"). Oh well. I've never actually watched "JLU," even though I want to (believe it or not, I do have some semblance of a social life and am often not home on Saturday evenings), but the idea of the entire DC Universe in one show sounds pretty cool.

As a fellow nerd who loved Batman Beyond, I was excited to see them bring some of the characters back. They advanced it maybe 5-10 years beyond the end of the series (Terry seemed much older). It was nice of them to throw in Static, as he would be an elder statesmen of the superheros. I was dissapointed that the new future JLU made no reference to the one thee other characters they actually used in BB (Aquagirl, a new boy GL, Barda, Micron). Why did they can this series? I thought it was great.

Past and future mushed together in the "last Batman story", or something along those lines. Go out on a high note, thats what I say. Though now I am interested to check out the time travelin' league, if only to see Terry 10 years in the future. Still, I think ROTJ (heh) is a great note to go out on the BB universe.

If you think it's Hal Jordan, think again -- he was the GL on the old "Challenge of the Superfriends" toon. Actually, most of the JLU "special guest stars" ( The Question, Captain Atom, Booster Gold ) are new to animation thanks to the Cartoon Network. I must agree, though -- they're waay too generous with airing of Teen Titans ( they run mini-marathons, for Pete's sake )and stingy with the Justice League.

but the rest of the episode was fun. Seeing Joker's bad clown gang from BB:ROTJ again(VoiceActors, too!) was a neat treat, albeit an odd contradiction of Bonk's status from the ROTJ director's cut. Not too happy about the "clean slate" resolution, considering the elder Bruce Wayne had no recollection whatsoever of jumping around in time even though Bats and GL actually DID retain memory of those events after their return. The one thing that always annoyed the hell out of me was that with 4 or 5 seasons of Batman Beyond to work from, there were only vague hints as to Joker's and Bane's demise, as well as one somewhat unsettling story about Rha's Al Ghul's fate, but nothing at all on Penguin, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Ivy, 2Face, or ANY of Batman's other serious gallery of rogues. As if the previous entire decade of Batman animated stories were suddenly inconsequential. Guh. Oh, and it's about DAMN time we saw a Flash episode! They better make up for the speedster's total lack of presence in the entire first half of Season 3! I mean, what about his various team-ups with Elongated Man??? Those are classic!

Curious to know if this even fits within the other Timm/Dini DC timeline universes. Can't really tolerate the pandered-down pre-pubescent storylines so I haven't watched enough to know if they've clued that or not. Don't expect it to be the case since the TT Robin seems more the Tim Drake character, whose demise we witnessed in ROTJ at a young age, so that kinda boots that out. Then again, there was some TT episode of time travel with implication of Nightwing, like the Dick Grayson version in the B:TAS. Just doesn't make alot of sense. Wonder if they'll do a crossover ep like some of those oddball Static Shock episodes I heard about.

The title "Fearful Symmetry" comes from a line in the immortal William Blake's poem, "The Tyger": ---Tyger Tyger. burning bright, In the forests of the night; What immortal hand or eye. JF, you forget that in the Kyle Rayner Superman ep, there's a plane that says "Col. Hal Jordan." Who's to say that Hal doesn't become a GL sometime later in continuity? After all, we know that Dini and Timm are huge Hal Jordan fans. So yes, while we may not have seen him, his presence has already been technicaly established. And that's not even counting his Duck Dodgers appearance (John Stewart was in that one too, I might add)! And Killer-Goat, I don't know if you're aware but the "Hand" is a long-established concept in the DCU and GLC mythos, and was featured rather prominently in the JLA/AVENGERS crossover. So its appearance was actually perfectly in keeping with the overall faithfulness to the comics themselves. I think that's wonderful that they're so true to the original stories! In fact, half the fun of the JLU show is connecting all the dots, isn't it? As for the episode itself: I'm not so much a Batman Beyond fan personally (a little too wanna-be "hip" for my tastes), but there was so much to love in this episode. The two Batmen playing "good cop/bad cop"! Brilliant! The wonderful and underrated Peter "X The Eliminator from Harvey Birdman" MacNicol as Chronos! And Hal motherfucking Jordan, aw yeah! If only he stuck around a little bit longer... it'd be nice to see a GL who actually has some frickin' IMAGINATION with his ring instead of Stewart who uses it as a glorified blaster and shield. It's a GL ring, for God's sake, have some fun with it! Sheesh! Can't wait for next season!
'Justice League' gets no respect on Cartoon Network

I agree that 'Teen Titans' gets way too much airplay than 'Justice League'. 'Teen Titans' isn't nearly as good. The annoying anime sight gags, and piss poor writing bring it down a few pegs. (The less said about 'The Batman', the better) Cartoon Network needs to air 'Justice League' reruns durring the week on prime time instead of crap like 'Yu-Gi-Oh'!

While seasons 1 and 2 did have 26 episodes, it should really be counted as 13 because they were mostly two parters. When CN wanted to "re-brand" the show, they asked the creators to ditch the two part stories every week. So really this is right. Next week starts the actual Season 4.

"The "hand of god" imagery was a little much, IMO" - Marv Wolfman would probably agree with you, since he used it in Crisis in Infinite Earths. Although DC had established the big hand at the beginning of the universe at least a decade before Crisis. Since the future we see here was an alternate timeline, nothing that happened here shouldbe confised "official" or part of the established continuity. Old Batman doesn't remember what happened because in his alternate timeline, he and Chronos never met. And Bonk never died. And Return... may never have occurred, if Chronos took over the world before then in the alternate timeline. Mr. Freeze did appear in Batman Beyond, and Bane's fate was determined. Teen Titans - they've already stated that show isn't part of the "official" WB animated continuity.

That makes it easier to accept as an easter egg, at least. Just perhaps a little too metaphysical or spiritual for my tastes. Then again, with a character like Dr. Fate around, I suppose it's all fair game. I agree that nothing should be taken as official in this last 2-parter since anything with time-travel has proven inconsequential throughout these animated series. But I suppose that's the bummer. It would be nice to see something bad stick, a missed flaw with consequences, since a perfect resolution is alot to hope for every time. And since they've already deviated from the comics with the series, they could get away with some more (witness Vandal Savage's WW2 dictatorship). This last episode was a good way to re-affirm the BB series continuity, but I almost feel they could've spent more time in the future than the old west to reflect that. Good reminder about Freeze, btw, thanks. That was definitely a good BB episode.

There were at least 3 awesome moments in Part II of the once and future thing. *Spoilers if you're one of "those" people* The first fight between the JL and the joker gang was fucking gangbusters! Holy jesus, that was the most kinetic, surprising, and down right cool fight I've seen on TV PERIOD in a very long time. Kudos on the editing! The whole "you guys screwed up" speech by the time master OWNED. I called a friend of mine after and the first thing he said to me was "Do you know what killed the dinosaurs?" Brilliant writing and comedic timing. And lastly, the whole interrogation scene with the two batmans was hilarious. That was some first rate comic book coolness on display there. *End Spoilers* Overall, who knew this show could be this good? Sure that Joker reality TV thing from last year was inspired, and Warren Ellis sure as hell delivered, but this show has been consistently surprising and engaging for almost a full year now. Wow...just wow!

I always find it odd that the 'Teen Titans' Robin is suppose to be Dick Grayson, when on 'Static Shock'', Batman tell him that Robin (Tim Drake) is with 'The Titans'. As well as the fact that Scott Menville voices the Tim Drake Robin in the 'Rise Of Sin Tzu' game. It's pretty clear that 'Teen Titans' (As well as 'The Batman') exists in it's own seperate continuity from the DCAU. I've always had a problem with different continuities because of how the make things more complicated. I just wish that 'Teen Titans did exist in the Dini?Timm continuity, and have Tim be the current Robin. It just makes things less confusing.

Holy cat turds people! Several to-the-point comments: Teen Titans is Free with their animation! Let them breathe in their own style. Yes, Justice League is woefully underplayed on Cartoon Network. Why? I don't know. CN is the best damn channel on cable right now going on (at least) two years now so let them figure out their schedule. Maybe they'll hit us with a glut of Justice League in June -- But it's not Teen Titan's fault. Thirdly they're all owned by Warner Bros. so don't count out a Batman crossover into TT at some point... Tim or Dick not withstanding they sure made the Nightwing on TT look alot like he was on Batman. And finally ... FINALLY ... Where are the f***ing complaints about Static Lame Ass Shock crossing over in the first place?! All you dicks bitching about TT got to look me in the eye and tell me Static Shock is a superior series. Because it AINT! Don't get me wrong, I've givin it a chance. But 12 out of 15 episodes feel like after-school specials. When Static crossed over to Justice League I felt nothing but bad for the Justice League. Tell me the whole thing didn't just feel wrong. I'm sorry, I've tried to like Static Shock, but it is LAME. Stick a fork in it.

I enjoyed the second part last night very much, despite not knowing who that Static person was. I hadn't liked the first half so much, but the conclusion was excellent. I agree that JLU is shown much less than TT, but I love Teen Titans. At first the extreme stylization bothered me, but once I got used to it, I have come to love the Titans. JLU is a bit more ponderous, whereas TT is frenetic and bizarre. I mean, this weekend when Robin went on his "vision quest" all the other Titans dressed up in his clothes and pretended to be him. Is that wild and crazy or what? Got to love the Titans!

The whole nightmare future where heroes have become the hunted has been done to death, but it was neat to see the alterna-DCU characters from other animated series in these incarnations. I actually enjoyed Batman Beyond as an elseworlds idea and, I think, using him here in a storyline about time travel and divergent futures was totally appropriate. So was icing him. Can't wait for more The Question and a little Suicide Squad action. I just wish the show was still an hour. If we're counting voice-over work (which apparently we are), I remind you that Mark Hamill voiced The Joker on Batman the Animated Series and played The Trickster on the live action Flash series, yet he also voiced Hobgoblin on the '90s Spider-Man cartoon and Gargoyle on the Hulk cartoon. So he's done at least four comic characters, two from each universe.

My cable was on the fritz because we had a Hell-acious IceStorm. My power and cable went out, of course until lame ass Megas XLR came one. What Luck.
Honestly the two best episodes of any of the shows in years.

Justice League was a piece of garbage. JLU hasn't been much of an improvement, I mean, who the hell wants to see an episode about Hawk and Dove? The reason these episodes were so good was because they really used the three best characters in the show. Batman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman (especially the sexual tension between Batman and WW) are really, with the Flash, the only characters worth watching. Also, they had much better villains out of the ROTJ (problably the best Batman movie of all time) Jokerz. JLU has really only been worth watching when the heroes' respective villains play a part of the episode. As for killing Terry off, that was badass, as they rarely have the balls to do so in any of the DCAU cartoons, and technically that wasn't his ultimate death as far as "history" goes because he never had to fight Kronos, the Jokerz never got the upgrades from Kronos. Hopefully after this they'll do another episode with the Batman Beyond universe.

Minus the Season finale. Season 2 was wonderful. All of it. As for JLU there are a few crappy episodes, but nothing as bad as an episode of "the batman" and the good episodes more than make up for it. The best episodes are FEARFUL SYMMETRY, Ultimatum, Wake the Dead, The Return, and Dark Heart. I do have to give props to the THIS LITTLE PIGGY episode... The ending was the funniest thing I ever saw/heard in my life.

The writers may have said that because maybe they thought that teen titans would be part of the animated DCU continuity. It might have been a mistake, but something they should consider. Since they never have officially said which robin it is they can get away with just saying he is Tim Drake. What gets me is that they mention Gotham city, and when Robin was Slade's apprentice, they fought on a Wayne enterprises building. They seem to want to connected but never want to go all the way. I'm dying for at least a guest appereance from Batman on Titans!! arrrgghh

Both episodes are posted in alt.binaries.multimedia.cartoo ns. If you don't want to mess with usenet, you can probably find them on BitTorrent, also. I rarely watch first-run episodes of ANY shows.I download them and watch them later at more convenient times.
