What is the point in that? With Wolfgang Petersen? Why oh why Hollywood? Give me a job! If you are prepared to throw away millions, throw some my way! Oh, and first (I think) And Vincent Price's Last Man on Earth will always be the greatest I Am Legend adaptation.

I used to love that book, I don't mind Mark's first draft, but the ending IS a little, I don't know..... studio... Hey wasn't Kurt Russell attached to star in this a while back? now THAT would have been good... especially after his "Soldier" days when he was in peak physical condition.. Warner Bros.... for the love of god... Don't get Arnie... I beg you. He hasn't the acting chops to pull it off. my two cents... *BAMF*

If you aren't going to keep Mathesons ending, why bother making the movie? Without the same ending as the book the movie might as well not be called 'I AM LEGEND'.

He sure did a bang-up job remaking Planet of the Apes . . . why not put him on this one, too . . . followed by a remake of Soylent Green? Damn you, Hollywood! Damn you all to hell!

"Last Man On Earth" and "The Omega Man" both stand on their own merrits. Why don't they just shoot Matheson's book as is?

As far as actors go please no Will Smith or Mark Walhberg!

Anyone can do the apocalyptic stuff, but you need someone like Charlie to do the part that takes place in Neville's head. You know, the part that actually makes this story great. You know, the part they always want to throw away by changing the ending.

Would be the PERFECT actor for that role. Remember, kiddies, he wasn't a 20 something survivor, he was in his 50's! Of course, Hollywood doesn't like movies staring 50 year olds.

I have been hearing about this flick for a year now and the trailer has been out for 6 months. What gives? Oh, and a Michael Bay production of I Am Legend would be terrible no matter who is in it.

Yeah, you know it was the greatest sequel of all time! Will Smith has become the Anthony Anderson of the A list, he plays the same freaking character in every movie! I could see him injecting some of his stale brand of humor in I am Legend. Richard Matheson is rolling over in his grave! Kurt Russell would be good, hell even George Clooney would be good, I would definately go with an actor at least in his 40's. Please Will Smith go and rape another piece of literature, oh wait, I Robot... I say lets make a musical version of I am Legend! I can already picture the Oscars, and the award for stupidest, most self absorbed film goes to...

They should just NOT make it, if they're going to change the ending of the book. Make another Omega Man or Last Man On Earth and let it be different. It would be absolutely retarded to change the ending and still call it I Am Legend. I read a script for this years ago where the vampires were all tribal and primitive and it ends on a boat with Neville and some kids/survivors sailing away. It was fucking awful. Is that this script Harry's talking about? I sure fucking hope not. I got it from script-o-rama.com if anyone's interested...

Why in the name of all that's HOLY is Hollywood remaking that of all movies?? The oringinal was good, but i just don't see where they can improve upon it except in the FX dept. It's a freaking water film, so this this puppy is going to cost easily between 150-200 million. Hollywood loves to waste money, why can't we get some shyt that hsn't been on the big screen before like the AUTHORITY? What's next a remake of Airport 77
Michael Wincott should be Neville.

No doubt about it. Wincott is perfect. If not him, then I'd settle for any haggard guy over the age of 35. I will be PISSED if this stars Will Smith. Technically, the lead should probably not be black because he is described in the book as a big "anglo saxon" pretty clearly, and Neville is not Will Smith because Neville would never get jiggy wit it. He just wouldn't. He's not a witty guy. He's a silent, brooding, lonely son of a bitch.

I wouldn't bother looking here for any news on Pendragon Pictures or Tim Hines. Harry had been posting info on Pendragon, mostly about Chrome, but lately all info on or references to Mr. Hines and PP have disappeared. Either Harry got some specific info about Hines that didn't sit well with him or he just gave up covering them until they actually get something released, which may or may not ever happen; Chrome has been "coming soon" for nearly three years now. If you want info on Pendragon's WOTW, go here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt04 25638/ .

I re-read I AM LEGEND. I've now come to the conclusion that this is one of those books that simply cannot be translated onto the big screen. Not only is the ending NOT the kind of ending that studios want but there is no way that the anguish, tension and torment neville feels could be expressed on film; it'd be a bit creepy for a bit but after a while it'd become stale. Nope, it's a story that needs to be read to be enjoyed although i might have said that one time about Stir of Echoes; theres an idea: if you're going to do it give it to David Koepp. As someone who did sterling work adapting Stir of Echoes he might appreciate Mathesons work enough to pull it off.

I don't get it...if you go to IMBD, they have TWO remakes of the Poseiden Adventure listed. One is a Wolfgang Petersen film that it says is being scripted by Mark Protosevich, while the other is a TV miniseries version starring people like Steve Guttenberg, Rutger Hauer and assorted other B-actors (which you'd expect for a TV miniseries production). So are there going to be TWO remakes in one year? A big screen AND a small screen version? How the hell does that come about???
Didn't John Logan do a treatment of this?

At least that's the name on the script I have. Did he ever write his own version of "I am Legend" or did he try his hand at a rewrite, or is it some fanwank jerkin me off by changing the auther's name on an internet screenplay? Well, whoever wrote the version I have read did a pretty good job, IMHO. Too many music-montages of Neville welding together vehicles or setting traps, though. The ending I read had a final showdown in a deserted desert town in an abandoned grocery store. Neville then comes across an airfield with some kid introducing himself. The End. Come to think of it, a lot of the script I read had the trademark John Logan style - you know what I'm talking about, riffing on other genre movies, lots of pop culture references, etc. Anyway, thought it was a good script. Maybe a Bruce Willis vehicle.
Tommy Lee Jones for Neville.

Its a complete piece of vile shit. Its just an Omega Man re-imagining. Anyone who's read the short story and then had the displeasure of ready this crap knows exactly what I'm talking about. There's a reason why this script has been floating around so long, it stinks. Look around for it, I'm sure you'll find it floating around in the backed up toilet of the internet.
