though even if you didn't, I don't think you can fault Carrey's performance. But I think Sandler has already made this jump with Punch Drunk Love, he's already figured out the secret, which is getting hired by a good writer/director and then just trusting them.

OK, not really. But give the ol' star some props. Seven Brides For Seven Brothers was released on DVD recently, and despite its me-Tarzan-you-Jane attitude towards women, its still a pretty cool musical. As for Mr. Sandler? I'm still waiting for his brilliant return to The Wedding Singer days. Good luck to him, and I wish him the best. Wow, never heard that before in the AICN talkbacks...wishing someone you hate good luck? And no sarcasm? Maybe I'm just tired of the normal chitchat in this here forum. You all bore me. Oh man, there I go flip-flopping again! This site is contagious!

"Adam Sandler".

That is all I needed to hear. I did not read further. Hearing "starring Adam Sandler" in reference to a movie is almost as "encouraging" as hearing "directed by Paul W.S. Anderson" or "An Uwe Boll film". "Adam Sandler" even managed to spoil Paul Anderson's (the real Paul Anderson - PTA, not Wanker Scum) latest film, for God's sake...

I will, from here on out, demand that all non-english speaking individuals pronounce my name with a perfect american accent. There is an "r" in my name, and spanish speakers tend to roll it. I once thought this was charming, but i now know, thanks to the reviewer, that this is just a sign of their ignorance and cultural insensitivity. Oh what am i saying? We all must strive to pronounce foreign names with the appropriate accents. It is our responsibility as self-loathing americans. Foreign folks feel free to mangle our names because you are from wondrous far away lands and therefore must be oozing with brains and culture. We on the other hands are just dim and crude. Why have i been cursed with having been born in this aweful place? Why couldn't i have been born someplace cool like Cuba or France? Sigh...

"I want to start off by saying, i've never ever written a movie review before, so here goes." Never written a movie review before? Looks like the guy hasn't written English before. Has anyone on this board actually finished school? That aside, the funniest moment must have been the sight of Adam Sandler putting a jacket over his head to prevent anyone noticing him. Yeah, that sure looks normal. "Ok ok, i'm done, i'm not sure how good my "review" was, i've never done it before, it's actually kinda hard to do, especially spoiler free." Even harder to do without spelling mistakes and typos. But worth the effort if you don't want to spend the rest of your life flipping burgers.

I'll see this one, but I'm not all excited about it, or anything. Wish I could fast forward to Sandler's next one, "The Longest Yard." Cloris Leachman is in that one too. I'm more of a straight-up comedy man myself. That Paz senorita is pretty hot though. Brooks' track record speaks for itself I suppose.

That's the one where all the Mexicans in Caifornia magically vanish, and the rich white folk have to figure out how to do their own laundry and yardwork. But this is the one with Frau Blucher. That line of hers in the trailer ("Lately, dear, your low self-esteem is just good common sense.") reminded me of Jessica Walters' destructive comments to Portia De Rossi in ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.

There's alot of insults you can hurl out over the internet but the "I'll kick your ass!!" one is probably the lowest insult you can use because there is absoultely nothing you can do to back it up. It just makes someone sound like a nine year old. Try something different next time, kthanxsbye.

I don't think that's even humanly possible. The notion of Leoni now being even REMOTELY likable -- given her track record of being a total shrew annoyance in EVERYTHING she's ever appeared in -- would be a true sign that Armaggeddon was upon us. In other words, she stinks 100% of the time and how she keeps getting work is anyone's guess...well, except the casting directors she must be blowing on the side.

I'd rather read a review in imperfect English than to read no review. Also, you really should not get so into it on the Talkbacks, especially if the critical talkbackers are being lame; it's undignified for the reviewer. You don't see Harry or Moriarty rolling in the mud too much in the Talkbacks, probably for that reason.

Love Brooks, Sandler's a'ight, Leoni blows

Anyone who did "Terms of Endearment" and "Simpsons" is A+ in my book, so I love Brooks despite "As Good As It Gets." Sandler is sometimes great (Wedding Singer) but often seems to be very hostile, almost hateful (Something Brooks himself referenced in the latest issue of EW). But Tea Leoni? I don't get it. She is unbearable in everything. The only slight hope here is that her least-annoying performance was in "Flirting w/Disaster" so maybe a good director can do something with her. Maybe.
