And now I'm in Korea. No, there's no connection. Though I sorta postponed my plans to come to Korea in order to be in T.O. for the film festival, which is how I saw Steamboy in Toronto in September. Anyhoo, Steamboy's really good.
I can't wait to see this one

GITS II was an amazingly beautiful movie to look at, but was a bit to talky-talky. I am looking forward to this one even more. I think the release date has not been set. IMDB and comingsoon.net do not have a date for it yet, besides 2004. So, soon, I hope.
the posting order really does suck.

It has always been a mystery as to how the posts would be displayed, but it seems more chaotic than usual recently. At this point, I will accept it as a lovable quirk of this fanboy site.

Doesn't this sound a bit like "The Difference Engine"? (Now that's a film I'd like to see.)

I saw Anchor man and open water today. Now I don't want to be picky, but it seems to me that anchor man was written as a point form script. You know - here's what we'll do, and then we'll just let the actors go hell for leather and try and make it funny. This is not the best way to make a film .Sure you get some good laughs, but shit - lets have something that'll stand the test of time and not just amuse the people involved with production till their sick dying bed days. Open water... what the hell was this shit? I've heard nothing but grand thing. how you CAN make a film on dv and get it into the cinemas. Well fuck me, you can too. you can transfer a dv image quite clearly to 35mm and screen it. Unfortunately, it's nice to have some production values in what one is watching. I thought I was watching the start of a god damn porn movie. and sure enough when tites appeared on screen i was ready for the guitar riff, keyboard drum bead and some hard core sweaty action. I'm keen on more film coming out under the virtue of having been shot for 100 bucks on a home camera, but for christ sake if this is what we're going to be getting then the next "Shot on dv" is just going to send me screaming down the street with my arms waving "noooooo!!" What have we come to when Icon can release such a piece of shit. Scary my arse. I've seen ponies scarier than this piece of shit. No defence is valid for this film. none. ok, i'm done
Yes this does sound good.

I saw 'Steamboy' in Sydney last week. Sorry to report that while the visuals are reasonably nice, the story is a complete mess and seems to be very derivative of Stephen Baxter and William Gibson. Not many new ideas here I'm afraid (but isn't that the case with most of this blokes films?) There is only so long you can watch a load of whirling Pickering Steam Governers and lovingly rendered nuts' bolts and pipes before falling asleep -which I did after one and a half hours into the film.
