Depp's been spotted with the Madman script under his arm. When Allred said Madman would be played by the star of 2003's biggest moneymaker, he was forgetting ROTK (and Nemo). He meant Pirates of the Caribbean.

...and over at comicbookresources.com, Rich Johnston's Lying in the Gutters column has a scoop that Depp has been seen walking around with a Madman screenplay under his arm. Depp IS perfect for the role. He can do kooky, and he can do sullen, and Madman is both.

Robert Rodriguez belongs to this class of filmmakers like Guillermo del Toro and some more I am forgetting, that no doubt, are the coolest peoples on earth. They are sure to be some of the best friends you can have. But they are not good directors. Their movies are ok at best, but they always get the coolest projects!!! I am sure that it is because they are just plain cool! But they are not so good directors!!! I bet Sin City will not be tood good. Wont be too bad but definitely not up to the comic book quality. I would love to be wrong, though! But I have seen all Rodriguez has done, and frankly I don

Allert shouldn't be allowed to direct. Just watch Astroesque. No come to think of it don't. Just know that it's a piece of shit film and Allert, as great a comic creator he is, he's not a director. And after seeing Rodruguez

You only liked the Spykids stuff? Well try watching one of the movies he directed...for adults then comment on his directing skills. As for DelToro, watch The Devils Backbone or Cronos. Consider yourself educated.

The only guy who can pull off Madman to prefection is Johnny Depp.I think most geeks will agree Depps the one and only.
Uhh, wasn't Passion of the Christ 2003's biggest moneymaker?

his band Chingon is better than his directing- their disc is insane. I expect him to redeem himself with Sin City. If it fails- then I lose all faith in him. The cast, source material, Tarantino directing a scene and extending guidance, stark black & white... Please don't fuck that up- it could very well be the best film of 2005. I don't think Episode III is much of a contender for that title.
Passion isn't even this years top moneymaker, it's #3 and would

Passion probably WAS the biggest MONEYMAKER (from an ROI standpoint), just not TOP-GROSSING. Shrek 2 and Spidey 2 cost buttloads more than Passion...
Nope, Passion wasn't most profitable either, F911 was.

Passion made an impressive 12 times what it cost...but F911 made almost 20 times the budget.

for the record I have seen all what they have done, kid. Devils backbone, real title, el espinazo del diablo, is just ok, with some good parts. Cronos just the same, ok with some good parts. Mimic is crap. Blade II is crap. What makes you think I hadnt see that stuff. I like to kwnow what I talk about, smartass. And ofr Rodriguez, the only stuff I enjoy from him is the spy kids movies. In case it is not clear I HAVE SEEN ALL THE OTHER MOVIES HE HAS MADE and all are crap. BTW, I consider myself educated, but way before your message.

SWIMMING WITH SHARKS is nowhere near as good as ENTROPY, LIVING IN OBLIVION, and of course, THE PLAYER.
Okay, let's now separate church and state, shall we?

It's bizarre how readily people are willing to turn each talkback into a shouting match over hot button issues with almost no provocation. 'Passion of the Christ' or 'Fahrenheit 9/11.' I don't know how much money either made, but I think the more important piece of information is, well, hmmm.... neither of them came out in 2003, thus rendering them ineligible for any sort of consideration as Allred's mystery movie (and a movie starring no one but Michael Moore and George W. Bush being considered in the first place? Can I buy some pot from you?) and making it wholly unnecessary to discuss either film in this here articly. And if you really wanna get into it, I think 'Shrek 2' made more than either of them. So Madman. Hmmm.... I'm not gonna speculate who's who, especially since I haven't read the comic nor do I know about B.O. receipts. I do think it's really cool that Rodriguez is giving creators like Miller and Allred chances to adapt their own work, although I think it made more sense in Miller's case. Then again, I haven't read "Madman" (although I am kinda sorta familiar with Allred's work via "X-Force"). Then again, this news could be bunk. We shall see.

If Passion's budget was in the 30 millions, then it netted 330,000,000 bucks for Gibson and Co. Assuming Moore's budget of 6.5 million, his profit is only 123,000,000. That rounds out to a net win for Mel of almost $110,000,000. I'll concede that ROI is the wrong measure, but Passion still wins. Is there a studio in the world that wouldn't take the additonal 100 mil in pure profit for the sake of the ROI argument??? Nope, and neither would you.
Way to keep changing the rules, muvynupe. So let's look at worl
