This show is great, and Brock Samson, given time, could become the greatest character in Adult Swim's history.
F@#$ing Brilliant

Seriously, if you have never seen this show then you MUST! Last week's Fantastic Four parody was genius. I was beginning to wonder why there had been no mention of it on the site news yet. "Go Team Venture!" "I don't know. It's just some thing they do."

Yes, it's a brilliant cartoon, one of the network's best ever, but... it's been on about two months, dude. What is this, Wasn't That Cool Back Then News?
Jeez, you guys are more than just a little LATE discussing this

...it's been around for weeks already and it is HILARIOUS!! I hope you AICNers aren't just now discovering the comical genius of Adult Swim!? (though lately it has not been as good as it was in the glory days of Sealab 2021, before the voice of Cpt Murphy passed away)
Without exception...

The episode with a sasquatch-loving bionic Steve Majors was some funny shit. Every episode has been gold so far. Brock Samson for President! I said it first.

I find myself unable to separate Lee Majors from Steve Austin, therefore, Steve Majors.

I saw one episode and I wouldn't call it the greatest thing ever, but it was really good. I forgot to ever watch again though, I guess I'll have to start watching more.

last week's episode not only included a guest shot by Race Bannon, coolest character ever created, but the Fantastic Four! It was a half hour of hilarity. Aqua Teen and Sealab are both great as well, and hopefully Venture Bros will become an equally beloved and successful show for the network. I already can't wait for the DVDs:)

Glad to see this get some AICN attention, hope there's more to come. We've been loving it over at the JumpTheShark group for a month. So why is no one talking about the scene where Brock's sometimes girlfriend Molotov reveals she's still wearing her cold war era chastity belt and he excuses himself and heads for the bathroom with a Massive tentpole in his boxer shorts from a clearly visible erection. (And then comes out smiling and smoking and zips his pants after obviously having masturbated.) What, are you afraid the FCC missed it? And yeah, the Impossible IV were a cutting, brutal FF spoof ("Ned's heart hurts" "IIeee, it burns, I burn!"), but how about Dr. Orpheous and his daughter Pun'kin? The BEST cinema or video version of Dr. Strange EVER (though that TV movie with Greg Brady wasn't much competish). How about Helper robot riding the top of the Venture Jet in a ringed rooftop bin like a D2 unit on an X-wing, and on the night Cartoon Net does their Clone Wars marathon? LAX is funny, I'm hoping LOST has somewhere to go, I'm trusting Desperate Housewives will be more than soap and eye candy, the non-animals on Father Of The Pride make me laff my porky butt off, Veronica Mars looks promising (if you like teenagers), I'm loving the blue/gray look of CSI:NY, Drea de Matteo (on Joey) is a delight and Justice League Unlimited has done some very good things, but THE VENTURE BROTHERS is the best new show of the season. Period. Starting with the clumsy walking orb in the opening credits. Starting with Warburton's delivery. (It's "Jonny" with no "h" and Spidey pajamas, Aquaman underoos). "Molotov Cocktease". Race Bannon's last words: "Tell Jonny I love..." (just for the typical AICN hatefilled fun of being disagreeable, let me say that the very unfunny Aqua Team Hungerford does not belong even mentioned here (due to the extremity of its suckiness), and the very sweet young person who said this was not as funny as Dexter's Labratory told me everything I will ever need to know about his or her tastes and the ways in which they differ from my own.) And how about when Samson was held prisoner and tried to bum a cigaret. He told the fake ghost pirates he had the keys to the hydroplane up his ass. "What if he's lying?" "Oh, it would be better if he isn't?" Then he clenches down, breaks the guys wrist, swings him around into his partner. Kill's 'em both, picks up the smoke, hits on it and mutters "I warned you I'd kill for one of these." I would SO love to see Patrick Warburton on Conan showing THAT clip. He killed a guy with his asshole!!! (See, kids, if you want to get people to watch a show you have to give them some details so they'll see what they're missing.) And how about that ID card? He not only has a license to kill, it's laminated, has a photo and signature, raised numbers like a credit card, a UPC code symbol and an EXPIRATION date! Tell all your friends to watch this show, because mine already know.
So much better than Sealab!

Aqua Teen is by far the best show since Coast to Coast

Sealab has its moments, but mostly sucks. The less said about the Brak Show the better. Harvey Birdman is a brilliant idea, but gets stale quickly. Now, the Venture Brothers does seem promising, but I haven't watched enough to weigh in my verdict. I loved the bigfoot episode though that had a cameo from the Bionic Man. But Aqua Teen is by far the flagship series; it's amazing how accessible it is too. People I would never expect to even watch Cartoon Network love the show. On the other hand, the creators of Sealab openly admit that their show is at times completely absurd, unfunny, and makes no sense (I think I covered that with the word "absurd"). Not that there is anything wrong with that, but the show just isn't my cup of tea. Though I loved the "Uh oh" episode.

Holy crap, I totally forgot to mention Jackson Publick's esteemed partner in crime, the mysterious DOC HAMMER - series co-writer, designer, editor, and, I think, voice of Dr. Girlfriend. I was woefully remiss to neglect him in my article, but I guess that's what happens when I don't have my chocolate soy milk. Must. Have. Chocolate. Soy. Milk.

Glad to see Venture Bros finally getting some geek love up in here! I've been excited about this show since CN's Adult Swim first aired the pilot waaaaay back in Feb '03 - that ep had far better artwork and Hank & Dean were even more wide-eyed innocents, but the series is still way kickass. I know a lot of folks are into this show for Brock Samson and his many ways to destroy human beings and have sexual encounters with bimbos in all 4 corners of the globe AND outer space, but the show is so damned funny beyond that too - even at its worst so far, Venture Bros has been hilarious and naughty. This show is comedy gold on so many levels at once, watching Venture Bros is one of the bright spots of my week. Too bad the timeslots suck so much ass, though this is to be expected from Cartoon Network, keepers of the dreaded scheduling-randomizer that they use to shoot themselves in the foot every few months. But as long as this show has characters like The Monarch (who Dr Venture doesn't even know is his arch-nemesis) and Dr Girlfriend (Monarch's... well, you get the idea), Baron Underbeight (MOTU's Trapjaw as the leader of the eastern European nation of Underland) and his minions Girl Hitler, CatClops, and Manic 8-Ball, not to mention flashbacks of Rusty and his dad, it will always be a bright spot on TV. --------------- sparklecopy, are you nuts?!? You claim Sealab 2021 is more original than Venture Bros? I dig Sealab (though less so since Capt. Murphy's Harry Goz died and the character was replaced by pointless Tornado Shanks) but the ONLY thing original about it is the twist on the show it's parodying, which is exactly what Venture Bros is doing! Hell, at least VB is using new art, 75% of Sealab 2021 is just recycled from the original.
