Anyway, after seeing Grevious in the Clone Wars cartoon, I just can't see Gimli's voice going with that character. Unless he can change his accent. He always reminds me of a low budget Sean Connery, but thats just my opinion. Gary Oldman is a badass actor, and can play almost any character thats thrown at him. From Dracula to True Romance, to Leon: The Professional, to whatever other bad guy he played, he does it well every time almost.

Lucas has been fighting with the SAG for years. Typical union, plenty of pointless rules with no flexibility built in. They made a big stink when Empire came out because there were no intro credits (can you imagine Star Wars with intro credits? Maybe they could have shoved them to the sides of the scrawl. idiots). They gave Star Wars a special dispensation because nobody thought it would make a dime anyway. I have my problems with Lucas, but good for him taking on those SAG idiots.

Well Gary fucked up, this could have been his chance to play a really fake looking CGI character in a movie that sort of matters, unlike the really fake looking CGI character he played in the last act of Lost in Space. Maybe Gary realized what a big fucked up pile of mediocrity Star Wars has become and figured Batman was all the geek attention he could handle. Big actors don't give a shit about SAG if it's a movie or director they "believe" in. So one of three things happened: 1.Gary saw the changes on the DVDs and said to himself "Do I really want to have my voice replaced in a few years when GL figures I was all wrong for the part and redubs it with an Inuit dinner theatre actor?" 2. Gary read the script and after a coughing laughing fit said "I think I'm going to gag." Someone mistook gag for SAG and the story ran from there, or 3. Gary realized he'd done enough bad movies in his career, like the above mentioned Lost in Space, and finally found a shred of respect for himself.............Don't buy the DVDs fellow nerds and geeks, it's a money grab pure and simple, in a couple of years DVD will be replaced by one of two new formats. GL produced the DVDs now just so he could make a bunch of money off of our asses. Don't be an idiot, don't be a mindless sheep. He's going after your wallet just like he did when he created the Ewoks and Jar Jar. GL is a pimp and any FOOL that buys his product is a John just waiting to get an STD and doing it knowingly. Oh and fuck SAG and all unions to hell.

Here's something an ILM employee tipped me off on from dailies that he and some fellow employees saw: The big showdown between Anakin and Obi Wan will involve LAVA SURFING. That's right. They act as if this is personal or something, as if the movies were coming out to spite them. Listen just because you busted a nut watching LOTR doesn't mean you have to shut down every thing about Star Wars. This is just an observation but people I run into who go "fuck Star Wars, its so gay" are guys who went to go see LOTR like 8,000 times. You can like both series of movies this isn't a war or something. I mean come on you got a whole list of actors who play villians who could do this: 1. Tim Roth- He's good at playing sinister people. He'd be a grand definition to the word "grievous" and I think he'd be the man to pull it off. 2. Michael Clark Duncan-I think he'd have that sort of James Earl Jones-type charisma and voice that would make Grievous tough. 3. Christopher Walken-Although, I see him more as a Grand Moff. 4. Joe Di Maggio-He played him on the "CLONE WARS" cartoon. Might as well sign him up. 5. Crispin Glover- He didn't get the part of "The Scarecrow" in "BATMAN BEGINS" so might as well let him into this. 6. Mark Hamill-Hell, he could do it he could mix in a little bit of "THE JOKER" voice, with a little raspiness to and BOOM! 7. Robert Deniro-Hmm...NO! 8. Christian Bale- He's playing "BATMAN" and he was excellent in "AMERICAN PSYCHO." 9. Anthony Hopkins- If done right he could deliver one of his best performances. 10. Ed Asner- Qualified voice actor. I've been thinking about this lately, and consider it this way. What about if a female friend you knew, or god forbid even 'girlfriend', wanted to change something about herself. I'm sure this has happened at least once to all the boys out there. She's not happy with her hairstyle, etc, or maybe even did decide on a major style change to something about her appearance, but she's ended up not liking the change. You, however - in the 1st instance, you always thought she was beautiful just as she was and shouldnt change; and in the 2nd instance, you thought that this new look that she went for looks terrific on her, and now don't think she should change anything about it. Whatever it may be, her present look to you has affected you in some way, it's touched you, and you love her for it just the way she is. And as much as she appreciates your support of that - when it comes right down to it, she's simply not happy with this thing about herself, no matter how much adulation she shower on her, she's just not satisfied and wants to change it into what she'd always dream it would perfectly look like in her mind. And so even though how good she looks now means a lot to you, and has had this positive effect on you, it's ultimately not something that she's happy with, she wants to change it to what she really wants, and so you support her. Right? Isn't that how it generally works? (And I don't wanna hear from the smartasses who'll quip that a woman is never satisifed with how she looks, therefore the argument would be bogus)

RE: SAG etc. Actually SAG are kind of jerks to the rest of the world. Tim Robbins gave a speesh at the awards blasting OZ and NZ and saying how they dont pay overtime etc which would of been inspiring if it was even remotely true. He was forced to apologise. SAG and a few other US unions love to pressure the studios and people in regards to what they consider runaway productions which film in the UK, OZ, NZ, Chech Republic and Canada - they seem to neglect that for most films more than 50% gross now comes from OS markets or that some films would cost double filming in the US due to exchange rates, tax breaks, less restrictive film permits, more exotic locations close at hand etc and those films may not even get made at all if they cant be made cost effectively. I've got no problem with them wanting to try to protect their local jobs but they do tend to bend the facts. The worlds different to 20 years ago and the days of 95% of films being filmed in Hollywood and its surrounds are long over and its going to be up to the US industry to make themselves more competitive cost wise because most films lose money which means very few producers are going to take the more exspensive US route if they are pushing their Budget over 60 or 70 million. You'll note that only big special effects and action heavy films tend to go overseas because you can max your budgets better where if your making a 30 million comedy you dont need to stretch your budget on the tech elements as much. Lucas beef actually is more with the Directors guild than anyone else but once he offended one union he kind of annoyed them all.
