Stopped reading at the introduction of spoilers but this sounds like the dog's BALLS. Always had faith in Sam once Sony gave him free rein to let him work his magic. Now, when's the $250 million budget Evil Dead going to arrive..? After Spiderman 3 by the looks of things but once he's raked in a couple more billion for Sony they'd let him do a remake of Plan 9 From Outer Space.

I'd also point out that I'm quite fond of HULK. I think I have a pretty well-documented fetish for superhero films of all sorts. The best comparison here though is the X-MEN series. As I said in the review, those films and the SPIDER-MAN films stand above everything else that Marvel has produced so far. If you want to totally toss out my opinion about this one because of DAREDEVIL, I certainly won't be upset, but I think you're going to be really, really amazed by what you see at the end of the month.

The first film had its faults but I can't help thinking that my main source of not feeling hyped over it was probably overfamiliarity with the subject matter, I mean Spidey Origin and Death of the Green Goblin have to be the two most read Spiderman stories there are. Now we get into relatively fresher territory and with Sam Raimi getting into his stride it looks like we are in for a ride. Go Webs! Shazam! Up Up and Away

Her relationship with Peter seemed to progress so naturally, never feeling forced or rushed like in DAREDEVIL. I loved those few tender moments between the two of them when they finally begin to open up to each other, I thought those were some of the strongest scenes in the movie and part of what made it work me. I'm glad to hear that the sequel will allow these characters to grow and that there will be consequences for the choices made in this one.

Read the spoilers. I was going to see this anyway, having been one of the few fans of the first movie (despite it's $400 mil domestic gross spurned on by repeat viewing, ahem...). But this whole review, spoilers included, make me want to make love to the damn thing. It's salacious. Seriously, if you are doubting the movie at all, read the spoilers section and prepare to be fascinated all over again in the way you were before the first movie came out.

Sorry to doubt you Mori but this kinda reads like a general summation of the script / novel. Points you raise could be predicted before seeing the dang thing. What about a bit more on the SFX, more details. Can you not specify how exactly you saw this when NO-ONE else has? Surely we're not going to get a ridiculous 'Attack of the Clones' I'll-never-reveal-my-source all over again, are we?
So what ever happened to Michael Chabon's screen credit???
by EL Duderino
Jun 7th, 2004
11:23:57 AM
I thought Alvin Sergent was only making minor "polishes" to the script, yet now it seems he's attained sole credit for writing the whole damn thing. Moriarty, do you have any idea what stuff from Chabon's script actually made it to the screen?? Don't get me wrong, the movie sounds like a fricken cream-in-yer-jeans good time and I don't have much doubt that the final shooting script was probably as good if not better than Chabon's draft... but did Sergent's alterations actually warrant that he win the coveted "screenplay by" credit while Chabon's name is nowhere to be seen?

That movie was great. I can understand people not liking Hulk or Punisher. I enjoyed both for what they were but neither was a great movie. Daredevil, on the other had, was wonderful. It was a perfect Marvel film, on a par with Spider-Man and X-Men. The film was a box office hit, and got favorable reviews from both fans and mainstream critics like Ebert and Roeper. There was nothing not to like about Daredevil. I think so many people hate Affleck that they let their opinion of him color thier opinion of the movie. Well Affleck has said he isn't interested in doing Daredevil II, so your in luck. The role will probobly be recast. The first one was a really great movie, however.

ooooooooooohh yeah!:-)(.)(.) Daredevil and Hulk were cool people. Don't let the hatred for the man fuck up your brain. At least Affleck got rid of that husband collector. He blasted goo all over her (probably doggy style everytime... wouldn't you?), left her and never signed THE Contract if you know what I mean. I think he should reconsider making Daredevil 2 and if not, give it to Brad Pitt. The Hulk was excellent. It made it feel like you were flipping the pages of the comic with the split screen stuff. Granted that it should have had more smashing but, it was just a set up for the next one which should have the pissed off dude tearing shit up. Bana and Nolte ruled! don't deny it. by screenplaywriter
Jun 7th, 2004
09:40:58 PM
Sure, "THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK" looks like a darker "STAR WARS" and worth seeing just because of Vin Diesel and Judi Dench's talent and David Thowy's directing. Sure, "I ROBOT", Tom Cruise's "COLLATERAL", Clive Owen's "KING ARTHUR", Will Ferrell as Ron Burgandy in "ACHORMAN", Bill Murray sinking his claws in "GARFIELD: THE MOVIE" all look impressive, or have some life into the summer season, but this movie is by far the top on my list. After seeing the lackluster, pathetically made, ridiculously paced and constructed "VAN HELSING", and sitting through two great movies such as: "TROY" and "SHREK 2" and passing on the contrived disaster flick kwown as "THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW" it has made clear no one is safe from this baby of a film. The rest will get their turns, but Spidey will wipe them all away with his charges of web-fluid. I know maybe I am just being a "plant" here, or just hyping and milking this thing for all it's worth, but "SPIDER-MAN 2" has everything. 1. An impressive cast. Some of you still dislike Toby as Spider-Man, but clearly if you look at the older classic comics Peter Parker wasn't your jockish, tough science guy like the cartoons portrayed him, but an average ordinary kid trying to make a difference anyways possible, to fit in, be popular, and gain the girl of his dreams. And Toby brings all of this to the character. You're drawn to him, you feel for him, you want him to win, and be the superhero you wish you could be, but can't do to a thing called-reality. J.K. Simmons IS Jonah Jameson. There's no denying it. The man has the look, the feel, the gruff persona. You got Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. At first the choice seemed weird and kind of a "long-shot", but the trailer proved us ALL wrong. Seeing him looking menacing with those steel tentacles ready to spring and latch onto you and seeing him say that line to Pete about M.J. is just truly pure geekness. Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. She's the "girl next door" along with her Torrence character from "BRING IT ON" only smarter and grown up, not some dumb bimboish blondshell carrying pom poms. And lastly you got a very pissed off James-Dean-meets-Hayden-Christ iansen-look-a-like named James Franco as Harry Osborne wanting to put a knife through the burdens plaguging him and also through Spidey's heart. 2. BETTER STORY. 3. BETTER FIGHT SCENES, CGI-SEQUENCES. 4. Dr. Connors making an appearance, although not in Lizard form, but here's hoping that they'll show him without his arm, or show him playing with lizards, or snakes, or whatever in service of us comic book fanboys and geeks. 5. Lastly, I know Doc Ock isn't in his green, yellowish-orange armored uniform, or his white labcoat, but hell the green trenchcoat suits him just fine and makes him look like he is just a Joe Schmoe trying to fit in depsite the eight tentacles coming out from his spine. And let's not to mention the movie is supposed to end with a cliffhanger note.

for 5 reasons... (1) the Green Goblin's costume. it was just foolish and stupid... why they didn't go the Mutating route i'll never know, or just get a better costume... i mean come on WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? (2) the seriousness of Spiderman... the costume is Parker's escape... he gets it all out in the costume, he pretends he's someone else... that's why he's always being a wise-ass in costume... and in that movie he just wasn't... and it was missed. (3) the bad CGi... the scene where he's beating up the group of badguys where he first takes pictures of himself? (CHEESE!) it just looked horrible... i mean i don't expect Gollum type stuff but Jar Jar looked better then that! (4)the swinging and acrobatic Spidey. i'm sorry but the human body cannot bend the way Spider-man's body bent during most of his acrobatics. last time i checked he didn't get a rubber skeleton from the spider bite. as someone else mentioned it was like Spidey was in Zero G for some of the stuff he did. (5) Kirsten Dunst... yes i'll agree with the above poster that Kirtsen Dunst gave her best performance in Spiderman... but unfortunatly her best is still ass... she simply isn't that pretty (always squinty and weird looking) and i didn't buy her acting. in all the romantic bonding scenes between ehr and Peter, i think Maguire carried her, she seemed better and the scene was beleivable because Maguire made you buy it, he's THAT good an actor... although i did enjoy the rainy ally scene... she has nice boobs. however i look forward to the sequel very much, it's hard to screw up Doc Ock's costume (a trench and arms?) and from this review it seems wise-ass Spidey is back. although i don't like that Harry's relationship with Peter is basically at it's end... Peter and Harry were like brothers right up until Harry took the serum that damned his father. even in the first movie it seemed Harry and Peter weren't even really that close.

Tobey Maguire was great in the first one, but the action sequences were dull and the CGI baaaddd. I'm not holding my breath on this one. I saw some to the train scene that supposedly had film viewers oohing and aahing. The efx were still not what I had hoped (like Buckbeak in Azkaban). I'm still crying it's not Cameron's baby.

I love most of Marvel's movies (especially Spidey/X-Men/Blade) and this one looks like the best of the bunch. If Mori wants to like Daredevil, let him, and don't let it taint all his reviews forever. NO person agrees with ANY reviewer 100% of the time and if you do, get your own brain........Now, Daredevil did some things right and wasn't all THAT bad, but it was flawed. The tragicness of the film is that it almost was really good. Mark S. Johnson was so worried about packing "Ode to Daredevil" into the movie instead of servicing the story, that he was unable to clearly see the story structure and problems and thus had too many ingredients in the blender. Affleck wasn't brilliant either but - GOOD FREAKING HELL!!!!!! - IT'S A MIRACLE THERE EVER WAS ANY DAREDEVIL MOVIE AT ALL. Seriously, he is a small-time comic book hero without the universal name recognition that Hulk, Spidy, Batman, X-Men, Supes and even Catwoman have. It IS a miracle a studio spent $100 million on Hornhead at all and then it made the money back, despite Ben A., hating whiplash.

Just can't seem to get excited about this movie. Peter Parker seems really mopey and whiney. I don't feel like sitting on my ass for two hours watching a story about a super-powered crybaby. Also it seems like they've really opened the tap this time and let the sap run freely. The first one was way too gushy, and this one looks worse. The action looks mostly like CGI stuff, not many real people or real stunts or real fight choreography. (Although I always laugh at the trailer when Doc Ock throws Parker against a wall hard enough to break bones right after he asks him to find Spider-Man. What a dipshit!) So I'll pass for now, although I might rent it in a few months.

Interesting read. I've been anticipating Spiderman 2 for some time. The first one was a very good superhero movie, despite the CG flaws and sappiness I realised that I am watching a movie based on comics and superheroes and as such I shouldn't be viewing it the same way as I would any other movie. They deserve to be reviewed within their genre and as such, Spiderman was better than X Men 1 and 2 (all they did was introduce character after character in both and give very little story in either), DareDevil (which I actually liked despite Ben Assfleck), Hulk (I also enjoyed this in the buildup and initial kickoff of the story but Hulk Hounds and Nick Nolte in general really spoiled the rest of it). Going back to the old Supermans, they were as cheesy as could be also - so why not allow a certain cheese factor in these? I thought it was probably the best comic book adaptation I've seen although I still hold a passion for the original Batman (

After watching the first Spiderman movie, the only real issue I had was that the climax was soooo typical, villain beats the crap out of hero, then just when hero is about to go down, he miraculously summons up reserves of strength and kicks villain's behind. So average! But I remembered enjoying the movie and bought the DVD, and then what? So boring! Definitely the excitement of seeing the big "event" movie influenced me. NO MORE COMIC BOOK MOVIES PLEASE
by bushsux
Jun 8th, 2004
05:02:09 PM
No more comic book movies, trilogies, sequels of trilogies, prequels of trilogies, war movies denouncing war while glorifying its violence and movies about warriors in Ancient Rome and Greece. Enough is enough. It seems since 1998 nobody in Hollywood has had an original idea. Why 1998? That year two movies came out that were successful and producers have been trying to replicate their success for 6 years. You know which two movies. Saving Private Ryan and Blade. Luckily, the war movie craze that was spawned by Ryan has died out with flops like Tears of The Sun, Enemy at the Gates and Hart's War. The comic book craze, however, has been unfortunately more succesful. For some reason people like crap like Daredevil and X-Men. Those movies were bad, Hulk, Bulletproof Monk and Punisher were even more pathetic. These movies blow, like Taylor Hayes after a coke binge. I'm even sick of Spider-Man, which was one of the better superhero movies. That's why Kill Bill was such a great movie. It didn't involve any superheroes, wasn't set in the backdrop of a war and didn't take place in the Ancient Medittereanan. It was the most original action movie of the past six years, which is ironic considering that it's a homage to kung-fu flicks. Don't see this movie people, buy the freaking comics, I recommend the Todd McFarlane back-issues.

I would be really interested in getting to know why the hell all of you "critics" dont go and write your own review instead of blaming someone for his personal taste in movies. Seems like all of guys are little Coppolas, why dontcha go make your own friggin blockbusters. i loved the first spider man, and thats cause i didnt expect "the best movie" or a "cgi revolution" i just enjoyed seeing spidey on the big screen and he looked pretty good to me! anybody ever complained over how "realistic" a comic book looked? i enjoyed the movie, went to have a drink and made friends with some girls, description of a nice evening. oops i forgot since your country is so immature youre not even allowed to go to have a drink under the age 21. poor kids i understand your aggresion now..im outta here

The first Spiderman film had truly poor cgi..somewhat ass backwards when spiderman is supposed to be swinging through New York City...although some around here hail it as one of the best films of 2002...guess it just goes to show some people around here have really low standards...big surprise.

If the first spidey is "truly bad cgi" what is really good cgi? Van Helsing? How about those very realistic wolved in Day After Tomorrow? No No No... Smallville has big time FX, when will we see that on the big screen? Spidey 1's FX were good. Some were very good. They weren't the best ever but they carried the plot and brought Spidey to life on the big screen. Get over yourself.

man you've never seen good CGI in your life before or what? go see spider-man again. specifically go see the scene where soon after Peter discovers his powers, he's jumping from rooftop to rooftop. far from being good or even adequate, that was undoubtedly the WORST bit of CGI i have seen in a big budget movie of recent years. sure, the wolves in Day after Tomorrow looked obviously fake, but not as ridiculous as the rooftop scene. i haven't seen any of the newer trailers for spider-man 2, but the one which i did see a few months back, you know with spidey swinging between buildings again, was again terrible CGI. maybe the movie will be as good as Moriarty said, and maybe Sam Raimi did a good job, but his CGI effects leave a lot to be desired.

If this is one of the first reviews anywhere, you'd all compalin if he DIDN'T go into spoilers. Plus, it is a review, as he talks about the direction, character progression, plot twists and just about everything else that can be said. What more do you want? He liked the film, which in the twisted universe of Talkbacks, means that you must disagree with him. He likes the first film - you hate it. He likes Daredevil - you hate it. I can't believe the number of pathetic, rain-on-his-parade losers that come to this site. You should all be banished to hell, or at least realise that deliberately disagreeing with everyone else and going against the "flow" doesn't make you cool. It makes you look like a petty fool. Good day, and I can't wait for Spiderman 2.
my major complaint with the first spiderman

Being a lifelong spiderman fan, I suppose it was inevitable that I would find things to complain about the first movie (stupid goblin suit, obvious cg, Macy f$#$ing Gray [I mean, COME ON!!]) but the worst thing about the first one was that Toby Maguire was fine as Peter Parker, but awful as Spiderman. Spiderman is a wiseacre, the bugs bunny of superheroes. Maguire sounded like he was physically in pain when he was trying to make smartass remarks. This time round, I guess I am more prepared for that, and I can let it slide. Also Doc Oc looks way better than the green goblin, but if I so much as see one f#@$ing flavour of the month pop group in this thing!!! Then Sam Raimi is dead to me.

I just saw the trailer for this film and I do want to see it, although I must say that I am not really fond of the first film. I loved the whole getting-to-be-Spidey part of it, but I really hated the Green Goblin part. Despite being someone who usually bangs CGI nay-sayers I really really hated every single time Peter Parker became a cartoon (Human CGI characters still look awful and unnecessary) and I didn't buy the Peter MJ affaire... she seemed like a childish bitch I had no simpathy for. In this that shit looks even worse. She is seeing the Goblin's son, she then says she loves Peter and then marries a complete different guy? When Octopuss grab that bitch I'll be cheering HIM, although I wouldn't mind seeing that glorious pair of hers under the rain again. I should be doing something else now, so I'll go away. Gilkuliehe has spoken.

Hey, cloudrider, this is odd. I totally agree with everything you've posted regarding how unreal emotional reactions by characters can pull you out of a movie yet I am shocked that you think Spider-Man commits this cinematic crime. It's one of the most emotionally honest superhero movies ever made. I think what is tripping you up (in my humble opinion, of course) is your belief that shock is the only "realistic" reaction to extraordinary events. I think you're making the same error most moviegoers make when they condemn the babysitter in Generic Monster Movie Part IV for going in the dark basement where the monster lurks. To clarify: you're operating with the knowledge that monsters exist in the movie universe and you recognize that monster attacks are possible. The character on screen does not know this. The character thinks she's in a universe that operates according to our "real world" rules and there is NO WAY a bloodthirsty grue could be waiting for her down in the dark. (Notice I did not give a pass to babysitters who go in the basement when they know a human serial killer is on the loose. I'm talkin' monsters here.) Likewise, the characters in Spider-Man think they're living in the "real world" and that possessing superhuman powers is impossible. When something very, very unlikely occurs like Peter Parker catching lots of falling dinnerware on a tray, people who see the event apply the template of their collected experiences to the stimulus and think "WOW! That is amazing balance," not "LOOK! SUPERPOWERS!" Or, if you're a cool customer like Mary Jane, you do your double-take internally, throw a smoky look to the attractive guy who suddenly has his arm around you, and say "Nice catch." (Dude, if a girl did that with me, I'd be putty in her hands. See, Mary Jane is good at flirting, isn't she?) When people see nerdy Peter Parker kick a bully's butt at school, they gasp and think "WOW! That little geek sure knows his kung fu. He's like that Bruce Lee guy!" They do not immediately jump to the conclusion that supernatural - superscientific - superdooperness is at work. Before we move on, I'd like to point out that when people see Peter do something truly impossible and not just extremely improbable like, for example, performing superhuman leaps and fighting supervillians, they point, scream, and otherwise freak the fuck out. Now that we've covered the reactions of outside observers, let's move on to Peter's own reaction to developing superpowers

In the spirit of mutual respect, I found your post to be quite thoughtful and well-explained and also, for an argument, very even-handed. I wish that I could write with as much restraint and articulation on something I feel passionately about. ***** A couple of things: 1)I'm with you in thinking that Catwoman's gonna be an sexploitative piece of junk. I think that some dude on the TV put it best when they said "I have a hunch that this movie is going to be a test of how badly guys want to see Halle Berry running around half-naked." *** 2)While I also found Spider-Man to be very emotionally truthful as far as genre movies go, it always did piss me off that Peter wasn't at all bothered with the fact that he had mutated overnight. Sure, he was all muscly and had ninja moves, but he also started shooting webs from holes in his wrist and sprouting spider-like hairs that allowed him to scale walls. Maybe the filmmakers were just trying to go with metaphors for the ickier aspects of puberty and treated his reaction thusly, but being truthful, if I got bit by a spider and started taking on the qualities of one, I'd be a bit concerned, at least at first. Maybe I wouldn't tell anyone, but I wouldn't be elated, either. Just where I'm coming from. ** 3) I think we as fans can learn something from anyone who's had to suffer through bad, cheap, and disrespectful comic adaptations about just how frustrating the lack of reverence towards the ideas we cherish (although I also believe you do have to skirt a line there) must be. At the same, time, it's not likely that comic movies will ever go away. They're a viable form of commercial entertainment. Ones that take risks and that are done right may disappear, but they'll always be mined for property. War movies, too, are viable, although they're not the same thing, since comic book heroes make good summer movie stars. Also, keep in mind that the production of war movies came about not by three or so mediocre turnouts, but rather 9-11, and that it would be in poor taste to make a movie that glorifies war when people are dying overseas right now (and considering that the majority of Hollywood is against the occupation of Iraq, it would be doubly hypocritical). So now that technology has become so advanced and original ideas have sort of fallen by the wayside, they'll be filling out tentpole release dates for years to come, I'd wager (though not that much, since I know nothing about this business).

Believe me, as a Spider-Man fan, I can! Maguire is not Spidey at all, he`s just an average dude with problems. Peter Parker is way more upbeat than that, that`s what makes him different from other super-heroes, his optimism. The joy of beating the crap out of his lame gallery of rogues. Maguire is whiny and much too tortured. I was watching an interview with that kid from "Hole" last night he had the Parker attitude to the "T". An underdog that has a never-die New Yorker demeanor. Another great Peter Parker would be that kid "Seth" from the O.C.

And seeing them duking it out on the train is just a dream come true. I mean it's one thing to see Spider-Man do it on a cartoon show, but now with real live actors, the brilliance of CGI, and talent I am totally going to the midnight screening of this and coming out happy and wanting to see it again 3 times more.

up and down this topic i see people that complain about the CG in the first spider-man and how kirsten dunst cant act. the first movie was great, the CG was great and kirsten dunst was great. much better than her "bring it on" character. saying she was a "plot device" is like saying they needed a love interest for peter parker/spider man with perky tits and they found her..mary-jane is a major character, not a "plot device" and dunst plays her to perfection. the green goblin costume rocked, you can tell how young some of u losers are with all the power ranger comparisons. proves that many of u still watch to this day. it seems to be an epidemic with the viewing public, that even if a movie has few or no faults that there are always the few nitpickers left with nothing to complain about, that come up with some nonsense to complain about. and those people draw out all the other numb-brained slackers that never had an original thought till they saw the first post.then everyone starts scatchin their heads...sayin..."duh, oh yea hes right" the old adage is true here...if u dont have anything nice to say or bad to say, then keep ur mouth shut. as for spidey 2....cant wait, even after the review...which aludes to alot but doesnt spoil that much, most of what the review supposedly spoiled u can pick from the last trailer, and subsequent tv ads. also hope that spidey 3 brings venom into the mix, they can save green goblin 2 till spidey 4.....nothing personal guys but its just a movie, enjoy it, savor it, dont pick it apart outta boredome....thanks

Take a couple of things into consideration: 1)This movie is on lock. He either had a spy get him a print of the film or was asked to spread the word early. In either case, his future relationship with spy or studio hinged on validating their work by putting the review up before anyone else. 2)Maybe you're thinking of something else, but the only incident I can think of from a year ago between Mori and 'Hulk' media was that falderal over the copy of the movie that had been released online.
Secret Identity
by Shaadows

Spidy2 sounds like a great movie .. I'll be lining up to see it ... but one issue kinda bugs Me ...and I've found it in the Ultimate Spiderman comic series too ... I thought a secret identity was suppose to be just that ... secret ... in the Ultimate comic series, there almost seems to be fewer people who don't know who Parker's alter ego is then do, ..and now, from what I read in Moriarty's review .... this is even becoming a fact in this take on the Spiderman legend. I suppose it will depend on how it's handled .. and who actually finds out ... but that was one of the big issues with super hero's .. nobody, or a very limited few, ever knew who their 'everyday' persona was ... and that was one of the things that made the Green Goblin one of Spiderman's best and most deadly foes, not only was he criminally insane ... but when He was well enough to function, He knew Peter's secret .. which meant Peter, and those He cared about, were in constant danger when Norman was in his more 'lucid' moments. Maybe it's just a reflection of our times ... and these days it's harder for a superhero to keep an identity hidden .. it won't stop Me from seeing the movie ... it's just a lil peeve I've had for a while now .. first with the Ultimate comics ..and now with the movie .. there's a number of other issues I've had over the years with the direction that the comics series have gone at times ..but that's a discussion for another time and Form .. being a Spiderman fan for over 35 years now, I am looking forward to seeing this next installment ... It is indeed a great time to be a Geek, and watch society 'discover' what so many of us have enjoyed for years ...

I don't know whether to be geeked up to see a scene involving the stress of a pizza deliver guarantee, or to be pissed that someone actually ripped off of Snow Crash. Because ultimately nothing, and I mean nothing, can compare with the hilarity of Hiro Protagonist battling Jeeks, bimbo boxes, a 15 year old courier, and the uncertain layout of a burbclave to try to get the za there on time and avoid getting whacked by Uncle Enzo.
Mori's Early Review of Spidey 2
by W0NDERB0Y
Jun 21st, 2004
02:16:12 PM
After reading this thread... for those of you thinking Mori has a spy or insider studio contact, relax. Why is he the only one who's posted an early review of Spidey 2? Because he's Moriarty and he's been posting on AICN forever. I too saw an early screening in L.A. last Weekend. It was a "secret screening" held by a marketing company, ie: they didn't tell us what movie we were going to see until we sat down inside and it started. It was, to my knowledge, the first press screening held anywhere for the finished print. So while Mori may be quite knowledgable in his movie lore and quite a well-written reviewer, don't doubt he's seen the film and don't accuse a good review on studio favors. I saw it. It rocked. 'nuff said. W0NDERB0Y
Spider-Man 2...orgasmically awesome villan.

Yes, I'm serious here. Well, not to that point, but to some extent... This is one of the best movies I've ever seen, hands down. The fights, the emotions, the character development (yeah, I'm a sucker for it)...but there was one little thing that really got to me. One little character. Doc...frickin'...Ock. Hold on, one second -- let me get this out: OMGOMGOMGGGG DOC OCK IS THE GREATEST VILLAN OF ALL TIME YEAH BABY W00T OMG I'M GONNA MARRY HIM W00TAGE RAPE ME OCK -- okay, there, got it out. But yeah, he's the single greatest villan (heck, movie character) I've ever seen, right up there with Hannibal Lecter, and that's saying a lot. Alfred Molina was perfect for this part; no one -- NO ONE -- could have done it better. It was great, the way he charmed you at the beginning of it all...then you see his slow decent deeper into his obsession...woo, chills. And the tentacles themselves are fantastic and actually believable, like you're just expecting to turn on CNN and see a report on the bank robbery or something. It's strange, really...in the comics, Ock is...well, ugly. Like a short, fat nerd with a bad hairdo. But...in the movie...um, heh...just a bit different. Yeah. For starters, his hair is way, WAY nicer, lol. And his eyes, creepy and totally piercing...and not to mention that one second...right before he grabs MJ...that sick little grin on his face...yow. Dang, I think I died in my seat. *AHEM* Okay, enough with the fangirl-ish rambling, this isn't the place; but seriously, you know it as well as I do -- Ock stole the friggin' show. Even though he could have done it, he wasn't all that made this movie great. I mentioned most of it above, but if you haven't seen this movie, SEE IT. I command you to. I could feel every emotion in this movie, I was about to fall off the edge of my seat during the battles (train: INSTANT CLASSIC), and I'll admit, I cried at the end -- but, of course, not for Peter and MJ. Bottom line? This movie is great, the SFX is great, the drama's great, the villan's great...I'd better be seeing it under my tree Christmas morning.
